* warning i take books too seriously i don’t know why i have so many opinions 🤷♀️🤷♀️*
i am so sorry but im gonna speak my truth. this was bad. like of course not actually but like I CANNOT. THE CHEATING?? brushed off. THE SISTER SLEEPING WITH HER SISTERS BF THE SUMMER BEFORE??? also kind of brushed off. UGHH
i was so so disappointed because beth and george were my favourite couple in the first book!! beth was genuinely the hardest chapters to get through because they want us to believe that she did weeks of emotional cheating because “they didn’t do anything because they’re just friends” by literally going on dates, not mentioning that you have a bf, caring more about him then george, him professing his love to you on multiple occasions and ignoring your boyfriends calls just because of adam. ALL BECAUSE YOU WERE APART FOR LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. i’m sorry but he was working a job to make money to buy HER things because he cares about her?? adam really was the friend she tells you not to worry about. and then they made george suprise her while she’s literally with adam and HE HAD HER FAVOURITE FLOWERS?? but then she just said sorry and they talked it out and forgave each other within a week…
i hardly ever say this but the guys in this book were far better than the girls. kelsi is the only tolerable girl in this book. also not enough jamie because i feel like she’s one of the only people with common sense so im excited for her to be back 🙏. adam was disgusting because why do you want a girl with a bf so bad?? but george deserves SO MUCH BETTER. ella was just insane because why is her mentality like that… but i really liked jeremy and i feel like if their relationship would’ve been developed more i would’ve like it but you can tell he’s too good for her 😭😭 i also liked tim but after their big fight she just randomly kisses him and it’s all okay?? okay then.
anyways safe to say the first one was better and i was very stressed the entire time reading this book. i have also discovered that cheating is the absolute worst trope to give anyone ever because how did they see that as an opportunity to make her realize that she was actually just wanting george. and then took that as their sign to finally have “their moment”, like no.
this is my longest review i have ever written, but, am i gonna take this as my sign to read the next one? yes, yes i am.

In the book Next summer by Hailey Abbott there is more scandalous moments. More drama. More romance. More dating. This book has it all! I’m starting to really like this series and I’m excited to read the next book!
In this book the girls are back and the boys are cuter than ever! This summer is a brand new one for Ella, Kelsi, and Beth. Poor Jaime is off at a writing camp. George (Beth's boy friend) has a summer job as a painter.
Beth is back at pebble beach with the girls and she misses George and loves him but she starts having feelings for the lifeguard that keeps flirting with her.
Ella has been looking for the guy that could be "the one" so I don’t think Ella will be all over the boys like she was last summer.
Kelsi is who I like to call “the hopeless romantic”. She is falling for Tim, but she feels he isn't her type. In Pebble Beach. Kelsi finds out that Ella slept with Kelsi's boyfriend last summer. Beth wasn't sure if she was going to kiss Adam or not.
This book is so scandalous and there is so much drama that I highly recommend this book! I think a lot of teenage girls, such as myself, would really appreciate a book like this because im sure some girls could probably relate!
I read summer boys to : Next summer Summer as an ir book. Beth wants to spend this summer with her boyfriend George. Yet he has a summer job as a painter. This makes Beth really upset. And since George will be out of Beth's site, she will have to spend this summer with her 2 cousins Kelsi and Ella on Pebble Beach. Will Geogre cheat on her or will Beth cheat on him with a cute life guard who's been flirting with her since she has arrived in Pebble Beach.
My text-to-self connection is that last year a guy asked me out to go to the movies while the whole 7th grade was going. And I said yes of course. Turns out he ended up cheating on me with another girl from Brazil. In other word, I thought that the guy was going to cheat on me and so did Beth. Yet Beth didn't get cheated on... I did.
I thouth that this book was amazing. I gave this book five stars because it was very interesting and I just love the way that the author makes Beth think. I also love the way that the author puts Beth into really difficult situations where she really has to decide what she wants to do. I would recommend this book to a person who loves romantic yet dramatic books.
I loved this book a lot! It reminded me of any typical teenage group of girls who all like a guy even though they know that the certain guy they like is not the right one for them. Beth, Ella, and Kelsi, who are all cousins, spend their summer making new friends and meeting new boys! Beth leaves her home behind all summer and her boyfriend George who she ends up completely forgetting about in her new life during the summer! Definitely a book I'd recommend to those who like a simple love triangle story.
The writing style of this book existed to be different from the way the author usually writes. This book was about three main characters. It became confusing, at first, keeping track of every girl and what was going on with them throughout the book. Every chapter would be narrated by a different girl and their point of view on the general situation along with their own problems. Although i do like the one, main character stories the author usually writes, i enjoyed the three different perspectives for a change. The author did a great job with connecting each girl with eachother instead of making it three separate stories in one book. Overall, I love this author and i would recommend this book like i would recommend Starbucks on a crappy day.
This book was a world of pain right from page one. If you haven't read the first book, there is no finding your way through it, as nothing is ever described -- the setting, the characters, even that staple of YA fiction, the clothing -- unless these girls can make out with it. Hence, we do get descriptions of the "Summer Boys" of the title, but precious little else. It makes the Katherine Applegate series that was actually retitled "Making Out" (originally "Boyfriends/Girlfriends") seem deep by comparison, as at least those characters struggle with family issues and so on in between swapping spit.
This book takes place the summer after "Summer Boys" and follows the Tuttle cousins as they continue to look for love. Beth and George hit some rocky spots, Ella tries to transform her flirty/slutty ways and Kelsi tries to find a guy who isn't only after one thing. Lots of drama! This book only mentioned Jamie in passing, and the focus was mostly on Ella (who is the most annoying character). The story was pretty much exactly like the first book, just with different boys. A quick two hour read, but two hours I can't get back.
This was a quick read. It took two days to read it. his is the kind of book you read when you just want to read something without thinking too much about it. It's all drama with not much of a story, but it's still enjoyable.
The book brought me back to my high school days, a more carefree time when my main worries were spending time with my friends and trying to land a boyfriend.
This book is geared for younger readers and probably something I would have read in high school... if I read romance in high school (I was a much pickyer reader back then).
I underestimated how much I would like this book. It's perfect to read when relaxing on a summer day.
This book picks up almost a year after Abbott's first book in this series ends. The main difference is that Jamie isn't at the beach this summer, so Kelsi gets bumped up to main character in this one. Abbott does a good job of giving brief overviews of what happened in the months between the 2 summers while not bogging down the story with too many details. This book brings back some old guys from the first and new guys too. A lot of the drama in this book began in the first and comes to a head in this book, but it doesn't feel like Abbott is just retelling the same story. The first book sucks you in easily, and this second book just continues that trend.
fantastic. obviously not an absolute literary masterpiece but i really enjoyed it. took me about three hours to read in entirety and i enjoyed every one of those hours. would recommend if you need a break from heavier books.
Simple summer romance plot between 3 cousins. A cheating plot that I didnt need but it didnt ruin the book for me. But everything else was very cute and nice.
I definitely liked this book better than the first one and it had me constantly wanting to read it. However the actual premise of the book is just shitty. Also somewhat confused how this book is targeted towards middle/high schoolers. I'm 23 and thought it was too much with the sexual themes.
Eh. Honestly didn't fulfill me just like the last one. This one however had Kelsi who doesn't deserve Tim (lowkey ship Ella and Tim). Thank God Jamie was gone but it just wasn't the best book, like it was alright, the drama was interesting but everything else was meh.
Kelsi is angry with Ella, her sister and says many ugly things to her ,telling her that she was no longe her sister while Ella cried because Kelsi said ugly things to her, But Ella calls her but Kelsi just ignores her and leaves leaving Ella crying.
