Obsessed with My Temptation

Rate this book
People know me as the college Prince, but I’m secretly obsessed with the most intimidating guy in this college.

They call me a Prince because I’m attractive, charming, and a good guy. The pressure to be perfect is exhausting, but it’s the only thing I know.
Then there’s Travis Ashford, intimidating, senior, and a boxer, my polar opposite, but his heated gazes haunt me at night. He speaks to the desires I’ve never dared to tell anyone before.
One night in an alley behind a bar changes everything. Once we start with the illicit encounters, we can’t stop. We become greedy, hungry, and reckless, and what started as a meaningless thing becomes something more faster than any of us can comprehend.
We have no future.
Everyone has one vision of me that I can’t bring myself to break.
So why does the idea of ending things crush me on the inside?

Obsessed with my Temptation is a steamy MM college romance in which the perfect Prince falls for the intimidating boxer. This story includes some hurt/comfort vibes, some kink, and secret cravings that prove to be just what these two guys need to find their brightest HEA ;) You can find content notes in the author’s website.

Obsessed with my temptation is a great rivalry to lovers and opposites attract romance. I really loved how obviously smitten both Travis and Scott are with one another, but due to social pressure, they feel they cannot acknowledge their attraction to one another. This pressure stems from Scott having a do-gooder reputation, while Travis's reputation is damaged from actions in his past.

I enjoyed how protective and primal Travis acts toward Scott. Scott has many responsibilities and with Travis's dominating personality takes all of his stress away. Over the course of this story, you see how Travis and Scott slowly unravel their feelings, which creates many tender and heartfelt moments.

Overall I enjoyed this story immensely. It has great character moments alongside a fantastic romance.

“You want to be my plaything? The Prince succumbing to his dark desires, letting me do what I will with you?”

Golden boy vs bad boy college romance.

Obsessed With My Temptation was overall pretty meh.
I don’t know if the writing style wasn’t working for me or if the plot was just a little too bland, but I don’t have many strong feelings either way about this story.

My main issue was that I felt like an outsider — I was being told what happened, when I very much want to feel as if I’m there with them, as if I’m living it.
All I got was somewhat hot but quick spice and teasing glimpses of them together, but I didn’t get to enjoy them falling for each other.

Scott and Travis were, unfortunately, one of those couples I have a hard time envisioning them staying together after the book ends.

Tropes and NSFW info (spoilers):
- Bi awakening
- Light humiliation kink
- Light D/s themes (more like rough sex than actual BDSM)
- Edging
- Strict top/bottom

Well, this was adorable.

"Obsessed with My Temptation" was thoroughly enjoyable, sweet and steamy, with a lovable cast of main and side characters (plus, a found family vibe that was *chef's kiss* utter perfection).
Travis and Scott's romance was packed with the most delicious elements: enemies-to-lovers, opposites-attract, bi-awakening, explosive sexual chemistry and an even more explosive, kinky D/s dynamic, lots of banter and, of course, the unavoidable relationship angst and drama.

To be fair, part of the drama was fairly OTT, but I probably felt that way because college-aged romances aren't quite my thing anymore: Scott and Travis can't be together because of the quintessential American social divide between the popular, cool kids and the poor, rebellious ones. I couldn't quite manage to take their relationship angst seriously (because, 1) I grew up in a whole different society with a whole different school/university social dynamic, 2) I feel my age), but I still appreciated it because it IS a classic, quintessential trope.
Although, I admit, I did skim most of it, especially in the second half of the book: I wanted more Scott and Travis exploring their dynamic and less drama.

Individually they're both lovable protagonists, and I adored all of their friends to bits: Eliot, Antony and Andy were fantastic and the very mysterious Henry is very, very intriguing. I also wonder about Mark: we haven't probably seen the last of him and I'm excited to see what will happen.

I really enjoyed this debut by Rina Damen, and I'm very excited to read the next book! In the meantime, I have also devoured Eliot and Jonathan's prequel novella, "Obsessed with my Brother's Best Friend" (you can sign up to the author's newsletter for it!), so I'll be including a mini-review for that one too: it was absolutely, deliciously wonderful! Eliot and Jonathan were lovely and hot and just a smidge kinky. Also, Brother's Best Friend™ is one of the SUPERIOR tropes and I ADORED seeing Jonathan being all protective over Eliot: *chef's kiss* utter perfection.

Thank you GRR for the ARC. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Obsessed with my Temptation - MM College Romance

OMG, Rina Damen the author put my emotions on a rollercoaster with this tale of the ‘Prince’ and the ‘Bad Boy’.

Scott is regarded as the ‘Prince’ at College, he’s so good at everything, grades, manners, kindness to all, and very handsome also. But he is struggling to live up to everyone’s expectations, including his parents and professors. Plus he has another secret that no one else knows about and he is struggling with the guilt and shame he feels as it does not fit the ‘Princely Persona’ everyone imagines him to be.

Travis makes everyone nervous when he comes around, his reputation has followed him from High School, he is ‘ Bad Boy’, street fighter, rude, and he carries a lot of emotional damage from his family circumstances.
He is training in the College Boxing Team and is expected to take part in a Charity Boxing event which will be attended by Promoters that could take him up to Professional Boxer status, if he does well.

Scott and Travis are aware of each other since Freshman year but they don’t move in the same crowd whenever they are in the same place they always manage to be caught staring at each other.

When Scott broke up with his girlfriend his friends took him out to the local Bar. He was on the prowl when he notices Travis in a corner staring at him. Later when he’s dancing with a girl from one of his classes and she gets too ‘into him’ he apologises and leaves for some air.

He’s not the only one outside the door, Travis is across the ally leaning against the wall smoking. Sauntering over Travis and Scott have their first conversation, well at least Travis does most of the talking.

From this point onwards in the story, these two guys move around each other like cat and mouse, until it is hard to say who is the Cat and who is the Mouse.

I felt such sympathy for both of them, it became clear that each of them had the same problem, both of them had been cast in a role they didn’t want or deserve. Luckily they both had a good friend or two who had their backs when things got rough and tough.

Things did get tough and it was surprising who saved the day.

There were several secondary characters who featured strongly here and I believe two of them are getting their own story.

I’ve not read Rina Damen before and I would like to follow up on the next book featuring two of Scott’s friends from this book.

Tropes: enemies to lovers, opposites attract, bi-awakening, forced proximity
Feels: 4/5
Steam*: 4/5
Kinks: Dom/sub, humiliation kink
Angst: low
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks: none

This is a college romance. Scott is a "straight" popular guy, known for being a prince of a guy. Clean image. Secretly though, he's realizing he's bisexual and kinky and he is sick of pretending to be someone he's not to maintain his image

Travis is a tough guy boxer with an undeserved reputation for being bad news. He's got a bit of an attitude and chip on his shoulder. He's openly gay.

For some unknown reason the people on the college campus have decided that Scott and Travis are enemies or rivals. Despite them never really interacting much to cause that impression. Yeah they have some heated eye contact but it's a bit over the top to take that and turn it into enemies.

They're secretly attracted to each other. They end up partnered on a volunteer opportunity and get closer. They start a not enemies with benefits relationship. They develop feelings.

I was a bit torn on this book. There were some moments that I really liked. Like the sexual tension and smart was good. And these guys snuggled which is a weakness of mine. They had a bunch of small moments they shared with touches and words where they were just sweetly affectionate. But on the other hand the author was too heavy-handed with playing up the prince versus tough guy personas. And some of the people and situations were just over the top, immature, superficial, kitschy. It was inconsistent. But it was enjoyable still.

Some notable moments:

"I had him pressed against the sink, something that had become a bit of a thing between us, and I was running my hands under his t-shirt, over his taut stomach, while I nipped at the flesh behind his ears. I had become more than a little obsessed with the scent of his hair, the tickling feeling as I buried my nose in it, and the way Scott shivered when I touched him like this. When I bit his earlobe or his neck."

"And because I couldn’t resist, I reached out with said hand for his wrist, bringing his wrap to my mouth without much resistance, and taking a huge bite. The outrage on his face. He was so fucking precious. “You’re eating the same thing,” Scott said, sending me the softest glare ever."

"We stayed there for a long while, speaking in hushed tones, interlacing our fingers, and pretending like we were the only people that existed in the world."

*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

I struggled to give this one a rating because while I truly enjoyed reading this book, I wanted more. More depth, more meaningful dialogues, more of the enemies to lovers trope.
The story was sweet as the main characters were. But we’re they enemies as the premise said? Well, not in my opinion. The power dynamics between Travis and Scott was great as was the chemistry between them. But because of the big amount of sex scenes in the book their relationship never evolved. Their characters as well.
The obstacle in their relationship was the cliched social norm of good kid hanging out with the bad kid but I couldn’t believe it because while it was mentioned here and there, nobody seemed to care that much.
Also, Scott’s struggles to come in terms with his submissiveness was stated as a problem for him but again, no one cared about that just because you don’t talk about your sex life everyday with every person you meet. And on top of that he found that special person who liked him and wants to dominate him, what more to ask for?
And the main problem I have with all college books - what’s up with all that constant talking about relationship stuff? I don’t want to put labels but come on, when I was in college I had more men friends. Not one of them talked so much about girls. This is what women do most of the time - analyzing, talking, sharing. Boys don’t do that. There was an enormous amount of discussions between Scott’s friends, even Travis’s about relationship details. In my mind I was constantly picturing a bunch of girls in their mid teens gossiping and talking about sex.
Aside from that, those two were adorable together. Two very likable characters, some secondary characters I really liked as well (Henry) and a nice sexy story.

Gosh, I loved Scott & Travis! Their book was exactly what I needed!
I'd skipped a few scenes early as I just wanted to sample, but once they really started, I couldn't stop! Holy hell, this was Sexy & slightly emotional opposite attracts MM college romance with Travis the "bad boy" boxer & Scott the overall "good boy" & prince. They're so much more than their personas tho. They started as a fling, both thinking they couldn't last, couldn't be what the other needed, but ooff are they perfect for eachother. Plus I'm glad they realised! There's the classic "break-up before the end" but as it helped them realize things, I won't begrudge it. T+S are kinky too, not totally hardcore BDSM, but Scott has sub tendencies (big point of story) & Travis is a filthy & caring Dom! I love their parents at the end lol. And their friends are sooo amazing!! Hoping for Henry+Antony & Andy+Dan(?) Books & Ahh yes, Eliot & Jonathan's novella!

I swooned everytime Travis called Scott "My Prince" 😭

Glad to have found this author, tho this seems to be her only book here on goodreads. There were some scenes where I'd have liked to be shown than told, but it worked.

- opposites attract
- good boy/bad boy
- bi awakening

Scott has been secretly fantasizing about being overpowered and dominated sexually for years, and despite how much he denies it, he envisions a certain bad boy boxer doing it to him.

Travis is a total bad boy and notorious for his moody attitude. He's everything Scott isn't, and because of that their college has rumors that he and Travis are enemies...

If everyone knew how badly Scott wanted Travis, everyone would think so differently of their perfect little Prince.

When a cupcake drive for a local charity brings the two of them together, the chemistry between them ignites and Scott can't resist Travis any longer. It's just supposed to be no strings, a little fun until it isn't any longer, but lines blur and Travis and Scott are more than just friends with benefits.

I love a good boy/bad boy romance! Travis had such a bad rap, but was honestly such a sweetheart, and I loved him and Scott together.

The story itself is sweet, cozy and interesting enough to read till the end. But sometimes author uses clinical names and descriptions of intimate parts and processes which was a turn off for me personally. Otherwise it could be a 4 stars relaxing read.

❗️SPOILERS❗️

I would like to say that I did like the characters. Scott and Travis made a cute opposites attract couple.

There were things that pulled me out of the story which made it less enjoyable.

The first being the pacing of the story. There were scenes that had paragraphs of description and little dialogue. Then it would switch up and events between the characters would be glazed over. When I wanted more detail there was none, and there was too much information on details that didn’t feel relevant.

The amount of times the words “bad boy”, “prince”, & “boxer” were repeated is hilarious. At times I caught myself rolling my eyes. I never forgot the labels Scott and Travis were given.

All the chatter amongst side characters was juvenile and irritating. That includes the repetition of Travis being a senior and a bad influence.

I'm so glad this book catched my attention and I decided to read the ARC, because I loved it! It was exactly what I needed at this moment, and Scott and Travis were an amazingly hot and beautiful couple.

The author's name didn't rang any bells for me. And now I know it's because this is her debut book. What a start! I will definitely be waiting to read more from her.

At first I was pissed by how many times "bad boy" was said lol Then it stopped, and when it was used was more as a kink, so I didn't mind.

Scott and Travis couldn't be more different. Scott is the Prince at their university, the good boy everyone loves and wants to have close. Travis, on the other hand, has a bad boy reputation, has an imposing aura and looks rough fue to him being a boxer. What do they have in common, then? Well, they can't stop staring at each other.

And what started as heated stares soon grow into something more when they find themselves having to work together.

And let me tell you something: this pair is hot.

Their relationship starts as something physical, they even set some ground rules they must not break (they are exclusive, but not boyfriends, for example), but things feel deeper from the beginning. And that's one of the things I liked. I feel like their romance is well paced and evolves as you read. You can actually feel it switching and deepening even when they deny themselves.

They both have issues they must deal with, traumas and insecurities that will be a problem for themselves and for what they have (or could have).

It was a nice Opposites Attract romance, full of steam, light kinks and characters easily likeable. The pairs friends left me wanting more, and I can't wait to read next book (the Heartbreaker and Antony have common past drama I can't wait to discover).

I guess it will take some time for that one to see the light, much more considering this one is not even out (and I'm not sure when the official release date it since it's not in Amazon and the author's webpage doesn't include a date), but luckily the author gives a free short story about Eli and Jon by subscribing to her newsletter, so I will be reading that and waiting for more to come!

Scott is “ the Prince”, outgoing, friendly to all, an excellent student, handsome and not really happy with the part he plays so people won’t be disappointed in him. Travis is the Bad Boy with a reputation for getting into fights, intimidating people with just a look, a boxer, not caring about what others think or say about him, but knowing he’ll never be considered good enough to be thought of as “good”. On campus, the story is that the two are arch-enemies.
Scott and Travis have been engaged in staring contests whenever in proximity to each other, feeling almost an obsession with watching each other, until one night at a bar Scott follows Travis outside and a challenge is laid down. When the two are paired up for a charity cupcake sale for 4 weeks, they still have a strong magnetic physical pull toward each other, but they also start to learn more about each other and embark on a “non-relationship” relationship of buddies with benefits. The passion and emotions between them grows, even though they set boundaries to start on how long this would last, they would not see anyone else while they were “together”, and they were not boyfriends. As time passes, they find themselves developing more feelings, but are afraid to say anything or label them because of the initial perimeters set at the beginning. As graduation for Travis gets closer, the pressures of school, an upcoming boxing match, and emotional insecurities threaten to keep these two from what both desire.
I really liked the characters of Travis and Scott, and the interactions between them as Scott confesses his desires for domination and Travis accedes to his requests, giving Scott everything he craves, in an enemies to lovers scenario. Scott discovers he isn’t quite as straight as he thought he was, wanting all these things from a guy and losing any interest in the girls he chased before. Both are growing emotionally and psychologically as they learn to express their wants and needs and communicate in a meaningful way.
This was an enjoyable book to read with both characters coming to realizations and then terms about who they are and what they want to be, personally and in life.

Rating: 4
Steam: 3
PoV: dual, 1st person

I was impressed by this debut novel, and I especially liked the obsession and feelings between Scott and Travis - their chemistry was off the charts! I liked to see their relationship develop, from the rumours formed about them being rivals of sort, to not-enemies-with-benefits. Seeing Travis being possessive of Scott was hot, but he was also so sweet, and I couldn't help but melt every time he called him sweetheart. Their dynamic really was explosive, and it was easy to get caught up in their story.

I mainly picked up this story because of the kink aspect and while there were some light D/s and humiliation kink, I would have liked to see more exploration and communication between the characters. I liked the development for Scott, he was struggling with his submissive side at the beginning and it was interesting to follow his thoughts and feelings about it once he got involved with Travis. Their D/s dynamic felt very natural and it was great seeing Scott being able to let go and get out of his own head.

The language sometimes became a bit repetitive and I felt like the characters were a bit stereotypical at times, even if it partly served a purpose. Being a college romance, the roles they had as "the prince" and "the bad boy" were played on pretty hard, and the drama was a bit over the top as well in my opinion.

Overall, I'm happy that I took a chance on this book as I ended up enjoying Scott and Travis' story. The author definitely peaked my curiosity about this group of friends and I'm excited about reading more books in this series!

4.5 stars. A stare contest is what seems to be going on between Travis and Scott.

Scott aka the Prince is an attractive guy, always polite and charming, Travis is his opposite
he’s raw, a boxer, and the bad boy.
They can’t stand each other, but impossible to avoid each other at college.

One night Scott saw Travis in a bar with a guy on his knees before him with his dick in his mouth, Scott can’t deny he wanted to be that guy.
Travis saw the hunger in his eyes.
Still, they can’t stand each other.

Selling Cupcakes for a Charity leads Travis and Scott to paring up.
One thing comes to another, they start hooking up. Nothing more, exclusively but nothing more.
Well, that didn’t seem to work. They are a perfect fit.
Bad experience from the past withholds Travis to get serious with Scott. Travis wants to be a boxing pro, and nothing will stand in his way. Not even love.

Besides watching their hot chemistry and growing feelings, we also can follow some other students who are trying to sabotage Travis and Scott. Or are they the ones who are sabotaging themselves?

That was a great read, strongly written, Scott and Travis are great characters, flawed and lovable, with some nice layers.
There are some scorching scenes to enjoy, there’s a bit of hurt comfort, and some amazing supportive secondary characters. Overall a very enjoyable read with a solid plot.

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Gay Romance Reviews.**

Scott is known around campus as the Prince. Because of his looks, his charm and his likeability. But what if they all found out that's not really who he is. He tries to be the perfect person everyone expects him to be but it's exhausting. He has fantasies that no one would expect from him. He desires the one thing he can never have, Travis. His desire to submit to the bad boy boxer is overwhelming and at the same time completely unexpected.

Travis has a reputation as the bad boy but he honestly isn't what people perceive him to be. When he sees the Prince from across campus he can't help that he's drawn to the man. He sees the way Scott stares back at him, the lust is returned in a way he didn't expect but has to explore.

When a charity cupcake drives throws the two of them together (with a little help from Travis's sister) they are finally able to let those walls down with each other and let those desires go wild.

I really enjoyed this read. The sexual tension build up between Travis and Scott was perfect. And the small tender moments that they just let each other see are what I love. I can't wait to see what's next from this author!!!

Obsessed With My Temptation is an MM College Romance previously named Obsessed With The Bad Boy.
This is an absolute new fav for me and I was gripped and intrigued from the very first page.
I couldn't get enough. This book is filled with banter, a meddling sister, steam.... so much steam! The chemistry is off the charts plus the possessive alpha vibes you get from this are out of this world.
The good boy and the bad boy brooding boxer ( Although there's so much more to him than that. )
The slight build up and the looks they throw each others way before hand was giving me all the feels.
Its an awakening romance with past problems that they each need to overcome, although to be honest I feel these two were so suited and meant for each other.
It melted my heart, Made me swoon, Need a cold shower!!, and laugh so hard. It's truly an incredible read that I can't rate high enough.
It's well written and thought through. A romance that will leave you begging for more. At no point did I want to put it down!
Five stars for sure. Can't wait for the next book by this talented author.

Okay so I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did but Travis and Scott were soooo freaking sweet together. Even if they both tried to deny it, I loved that they were equally obsessed with each other.

I wasn’t expecting any character growth in such a short book but there definitely was. These two brought out different sides of each other and definitely made each other better. I loved watching them go from heated glances to being in love. Their chemistry was 🔥🔥.

Honestly the only reason for the missing star was because of some grammar issues. I am in no way the grammar police but a lot of the wording was off to me. Like some words in the sentences should have been switched (if that makes sense) it kind of threw me off while reading. But I still really enjoyed it.

I also liked the secondary characters (not quite sure about Henry but we will see in the next book) and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

4 Estrellas.

Scott is the all round good guy on campus and has a reputation to uphold.
Travis the rougher, boxer on campus whom Scott should not be drawn to.
The chemistry between them is electric and when they get paired up to work together, the spark between them ignites.
The more time they spend together, the more they realise that they bring out the best in each other.

An engaging story filled with a little bit of angst, opposites attract vibes, steamy scenes and two characters who are better together than apart.
A great time first time read by this author for me. I’m hoping we get a continuation of this series.

I was quickly drawn into Travis and Scott’s story when we learn at the beginning that while their college considers them rivals because of how different they are; they don’t know each other well enough to be rivals and harbor little opinion about the other. That doesn’t stop some intense eye battles from across the room though. Soon enough eye battles aren’t enough for the bad boy and the prince and they give in to the desires that they have had building up inside them.
I really loved seeing Travis and Scott grow and figure out what they each really want out of life and from each other. Their story is sexy and sensual as well as sweet and swoony.

The pressure is there for Scott to live up to his good guy reputation and Travis to live with his bad boy reputation and the twain should not meet. But they do. Scott and Travis have great chemistry and they find that their attraction to one another is addictive. They are considered opposites but they have more in common when they look at one another more closely and when they spend time together than their labels suggest. And that initial temptation turns into a pretty serious thing for them. Their story was fun and I enjoyed reading it.

I ate this story up, it had a little bit of everything, from sweet to sexy and some yummy possessiveness. Both main characters were flawed yet extremely likable and perfect for each other, their relationship development was perfect, I always love a hookup that turns into so much more without the characters even realizing, that's my kryptonite. This was my first read from this author and I would most definitely look for more from them, I would recommend this one.

The book was well-written and kept my attention throughout. I enjoyed getting to know the characters. Scott was the quintessential good boy, and he was obsessed with bad boy Travis. Travis was misunderstood and under all that bravado and scary demeanor was a beautiful soul. You could see the attraction is very mutual. The MC’s had amazing chemistry and I loved watching their relationship develop. The steamy scenes were well-written and had me hoping for more.

I enjoyed this one, and I really liked both Travis and Scott. But I just wish we'd had a little more of them. I feel this could've been an extra 50-100 pages long and I wouldn't have minded. I liked the set-up of the good boy/bad boy.
The over use of Scott being called Prince was a bit much. Maybe a few times but when Travis was saying it at certain points, it just didn't seem believable dialogue.
Overall enjoyed this though. Just wish the epilogue had been a little more into the future

This was a really good book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am frankly amazed it's by a debut author, it definitely doesn't read like it.

Oh my lord, the chemistry in this book was wild! I'm always up for a bit of D/s, and this was right up my street. I really enjoyed the dynamic between them.

This was a really cute romance with a strong storyline and plenty of heat! It's well written and I would definitely read more by this author. I'm already looking forward to their future books.

Scott and Travis had a fake rivalry but secretly were crushing on each other. Specifically, both wanted Travis to dominate Scott sexually. Both guys are under such pressure to be things they are not, some self imposed. They are so hot for each other you can feel the steam and I love that "eat you up" smutty vibe. My first book by this author and it was enjoyable, I look forward to more. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

There’s some serious chemistry between Scott and Travis, who each bring their own special something to their dynamic. Their story takes some familiar elements: opposites attract, something fun-til-it’s serious, plenty of heat, and a bit of angst, and combines them in ways that make for an enjoyable read– this author was new to me, but I’ll definitely be interested in reading more of their work after this.

*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

IT WAS PERFECT!!! Sucked me in, and ruined my sleep schedule (lol). It was everything I hoped, everything I wanted, and MORE 😍😍😍 I loved everything, the chemistry, the banter, the emotional struggle and insecurties, the pack of friends, the promise of more stories to come 👀👀👀👀

MWAH. LOVED IT THROUGH AND THROUGH.
And I'll say it again: FOR ME, IT WAS PERFECT. 💖💖💖💖
