The Deadly Pieces is a novel by Sheila English. It is a novel that easily incorporates supernatural and thriller which easily has a reader on the edge of their seat in anticipation of what will happen next. To begin with, I would like to say the cover and description caught my eye so I had to read this novel to see if it was as good as it seemed via cover and blurb alone and I can honestly say I was not disappointed. In my opinion, Sheila English seamlessly integrates elementals of horror, mystery and suspense wonderfully with the narrative being unpredictable which leaves the reader intrigued to read on about what will happen next. I’d say the author wrote this book in a way that was enjoyable and easy to follow. I didn’t need to stop reading and look words up or sound words out at all. really liked the descriptions throughout as well which gave us the reader great imagery to imagine the scene as we read.

I also really liked how distinctive each character is so it made it easy to tell who is who by the way they speak and such. This thrilling story follows Adam Frankenstein. He is quite a lovely character in my opinion and he seems to know his rights from wrongs. He is the type of character that anyone would actually love to read. Adam is protective of Rebecca and seems to really want the best for her. As the story progressed, I found myself enjoying all the little twists and turns. As said above, the descriptions really sold me on this book as it made me want to keep reading and I was immersed into this word. The scenes really seemed to come to life as we read and that is what I love about well written books. The author really has a way with characterisation which is evident by the way Adam Frankenstein, for example, is written. The atmosphere for this book was perfect for the genre in my opinion.

In conclusion, The Deadly Pieces by Sheila English is a gripping supernatural thriller that will leave readers amazed and captivated. With it’s compelling characters, plot, atmosphere and wonderful description, this novel is sure to satisfy anyone who decides to pick it up and read it. It isn’t always that a book makes me keep reading from the first few chapters alone but this one did and I did not regret reading this book at all.

I've enjoyed Adam Frankenstein short stories and the comics so I was happy to see when the first full-length novel came out.
Whether you enjoy classic horror creatures or a good suspense thriller, this modern Gothic, scifi thriller is a solid story.
Adam is a character you really fall in love with. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and his own brand of justice. And this is the book where he meets Rebecca, his new partner and she is a strong heroine with courage and grit. Without a doubt you get the feeling that she and Adam have a special bond.
I would call this urban fantasy with a hint of a potential romance.
Adam is on the hunt for a scientist that works for Mary Shelley's League of Supernatural Hunters. The League has grown over the last 200 years and Adam isn't a fan. But, he agrees to help them since this scientist has stolen the journals of a Dr. Moreau and is altering the basic DNA of humans to create creatures she hopes to control.
Adam has to go undercover in Houston as a US Marshal and that is where he meets Rebecca who has no idea that monsters are real. Immediately he feels protective of her and admires her courage. That makes the entire mission more difficult.
It's a fun story and I look forward to the next novel.

Loved this read

Everything was old but new. A story that has been told and arranged in away that was fun. This book took the old and made it refreshing and new. Can't say enough, except you need to read this book!!

Beginning in 1851, Adam Frankenstein is a member of the League of Supernatural Hunters.

The concept was intriguing, however, the plot has a lot of gaps that weaken the potential.
