Links, blogs, apps and more easy access to up-to-date information online. Practical information on shopping, food & drink and much more - plus a phrasebook section."
The guidebook opens with things to do that are free and then an ‘Only in Edinburgh’ page. And of course things to do if it rains (which, of course, it does!!!)
There is so much history to drink in from the Old Town to the New Town.
And, great to see, a small section for Bookworms and Film Buffs. You couldn’t really visit Edinburgh without reading a novel by Ian Rankin (well, we couldn’t anyway!). And maybe a trip to Rosslyn Chapel beyond the city which appeared in the Da Vinci Code.
So, it’s a good guide for cherry picking things to do on a long weekend visit.
I’ve made a good research on Edinburgh, before looking for guide books. I got this one and several others on Scribd. Since I’m paying for the subscription, I might as well compare some of the guide books. Well, it’s an ok guide, but there are few things that it misses. It’s 2012 edition, so maybe that’s it. Some links do not work, some listed places don’t work anymore. Author seem to miss some of the attractions, which I’d totally add to this guide. Some places are described very briefly, so it’s bit of a shame. In general, it’s not a bad guide, but I’d suggest getting more info online.
