Wardle made a solid book on how to overcome the wounds that we have with a biblical perspective. Terry Wardle does a great job sharing his personal journey to healing and recovery from depression, addiction, and brokeness.

But part of why this book isn’t rated higher for me is not necessarily because I think this book is mediocre at all. Rather, he has done a better job with other books that he has written, and it just felt like some of the concepts and even chapters of this book had things that were missing a more thorough explanation. He could’ve taken some things a few steps further and explained other things better.

It just felt like the book was a collection of different ideas, but failed to have a cohesive outline. It felt like I’ve read 10 different lectures, rather than a story. That’s not to say it was a bad thing, but it definitely is a step down from some of his other writings.

All in all, I would highly recommend this book to those who are looking to heal the wounds of their past, plus for those that want to learn more about reconciliation, forgiveness, repentance, and a biblical perspective on these things. This is not the greatest book if you were looking for something more therapeutical, but it’s solid and it’s forgiving, and Terry Wardle is a great man of God.

Rating: 6.5/10, 3 stars.

A very good and thoughtful book on the condition of the human heart amidst suffering and sickness. There are a couple of things I wrestled through, but ultimately found it to be an easy read and a good analysis of how to approach the topic. Wardle does a great job bringing in compassion and understanding towards the topic while also giving some good pointers and advice he has learned going through his own mental journey.
