Great great story held the attention of my 9 yr in a way I haven't seen in awhile. Read it over 2 meals. Just a fun story with a good morale at the end.

Sweet and funny wisdom tale from the 800s, featuring Emperor Charlemagne as a character but not telling any of his history. The illustrations are done in the style of an illuminated manuscript, or, a 1970s reinterpretation of those.

A lovely tale! And beautifully drawn pictures. Nice moral at the end as well. Highly enjoyable picture book.
