About the author

António Marques é Professor Catedrático do Departamento de Filosofia da NOVA FCSH. O seu trabalho incide maioritariamente sobre Kant (PhD, “Organismo e Sistema em Kant”, Lisboa, 1987), em particular sobre o primado da razão prática num âmbito sistemático. No âmbito dos estudos kantianos publicou, entre outros, o artigo “The Critical Value of Reflection in Kant” (in Terror, peace and universalism: essays on the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, ed. Bindu Puri, Heiko Sievers, Oxford UP), o capítulo “Unity and Diversity of the Transcendental Reflection in Kant” (in Kant Kongress, 2008, Berlin: Walter de Gruyter) e, mais recentemente, “Radical Evil and the Power of Judgment” (in Natur and Freiheit, Akten des XII. Internationalen Kant-Kongresses, Berlin:De Gruyter, 2019). “Wittgenstein on Understanding and Description” (in Human Understanding as Problem, Berlin: W. de Gruyter, 2019), é o seu mais recente artigo sobre Wittgenstein, sobre o qual publicou abundantemente, bem como sobre Nietzsche. No livro A Filosofia e o Mal (Relógio d’Água, 2015), analisa a concepção de mal e mal radical em Kant e Hannah Arendt. Atualmente, o seu trabalho de investigação centra-se sobretudo na esfera da racionalidade prática, ética e normatividade das regras.
