I'm giving Hitman: Chicago Deathwinds a weak 2 out of 5. This book has a reputation of being wild and over the top and the first chapter lives up to that. Dirk Spencer learns his friends were killed by racist security guards, so he exacts revenge by tracking down the killers, jamming the police signal, shooting out their tires with an uzi, forcing them to beat each other nearly to death before he uses their own guns against them and blows up their car with a bazooka. Wow.
The rest is mostly a bore. There is a sequence were he hits his target with an uzi while flying a plane, but there is barely any action before that. The villain doesn't do much, he's this racist who is White House bound and has a death squad and has bombed refugee boats but we really don't get to see him doing anything evil until the end and then he's a push over for our hero. The final action sequence is decent, but that middle section completely sags.
