Kentarou Miura (三浦建太郎) was born in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in 1966. He is left-handed. In 1976, at the early age of 10, Miura made his first Manga, entitled "Miuranger", that was published for his classmates in a school publication; the manga ended up spanning 40 volumes. In 1977, Miura created his second manga called Ken e no michi (剣への道 The Way to the Sword), using Indian ink for the first time. When he was in middle school in 1979, Miura's drawing techniques improved greatly as he started using professional drawing techniques. His first dōjinshi was published, with the help of friends, in a magazine in 1982.

That same year, in 1982, Miura enrolled in an artistic curriculum in high school, where he and his classmates started publishing their works in school booklets, as well as having his first dōjinshi published in a fan-produced magazine. In 1985, Miura applied for the entrance examination of an art college in Nihon University. He submitted Futanabi for examination and was granted admission. This project was later nominated Best New Author work in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Another Miura manga Noa was published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine the very same year. Due to a disagreement with one of the editors, the manga was stalled and eventually dropped altogether. This is approximately where Miura's career hit a slump.

In 1988, Miura bounced back with a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, as an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves (王狼, ōrō?) based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken. It was published in the monthly Japanese Animal House magazine in issues 5 and 7 of that year.

In 1990, a sequel is made to Ourou entitled Ourou Den (王狼伝 ōrō den, The Legend of the Wolf King) that was published as a prequel to the original in Young Animal Magazine. In the same year, the 10th issue of Animal House witnesses the first volume of the solo project Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga titled Japan, that was published in Young Animal House from the 1st issue to the 8th of 1992, and was later released as a stand-alone tankōbon. Miura's fame grew after Berserk was serialized in Young Animal in 1992 with the release of "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of his masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary mangakas. At this time Miura dedicates himself solely to be working on Berserk. He has indicated, however, that he intends to publish more manga in the future.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. Various art books and supplemental materials by Miura based on Berserk are also released. In 1999, Miura made minor contributions to the Dreamcast video game Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage. 2004 saw the release of yet another video game adaptation entitled Berserk Millennium Falcon Arc: Chapter of the Record of the Holy Demon War.

Since that time, the Berserk manga has spanned 34 tankōbon with no end in sight. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan-made, ranging from statues, action figures to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentarou Miura received the second place in the Osamu Tezuka Culture Award of Excellence for Berserk.[1]

Miura provided the design for the Vocaloid Kamui Gakupo, whose voice is taken from the Japanese singer and actor, Gackt.

Miura passed away on May 6, 2021 at 2:48 p.m. due to acute aortic dissection.

My prediction was way off.
Everyone fought to the best of their abilities.
Serpico proved formidable, and a very fast learner with his wind sylphs.
The little witch proved fierce, but she needs a lot of preparation time.
Isidro was helpless, i think he will push himself the next few volumes, and he will be effective for the team.
I love how Kentaro Miura is trying to rationalize his twisted as fuck world.
The whole spirit world, and the spirits, and angels is very interesting.
But i am starting to have serious doubts, if this series will ever end, they are too far from Griffith he is just so out of reach, the world is twisting around him, and they are just fighting these mutations that are happening because of his mere existence...

This is good, but when will we stop having casca and farnese kidnapped and in need of saving?

Apart from that aspect, I liked the volume. It was fun and dynamic. The art is gorgeous and the story is solid.
The monster designs are chiefs kiss, they are so disturbing and horrendous.

Have I mentioned, that my favorite thing is Guts having friends and being able to rely on them and they care for him and they respect and trust him. Guts is no longer alone and I'm having feelings.

MAGIC ✨ It’s Serpico and Schierke’s time to shine!

P.S. the final scene of this volume is the most disturbing thing I’ve seen in a while. I can’t.

There's a good fight or few here, as well as some nice insight into magic and religion and deep faiths. It's also where things get, perhaps for the first time in Berserk, pretty unnecessarily gross.

It's so great to see how far Farnese has come and developed as a character. Also Schierke gets her time to shine. The ending with the trolls though? Disturbing as hell.

Their freaking magic system. Molding western concept of fantasy magic into medieval christianic concepts. Its the turning point in berserk were the genre turns into full fledged medieval fantasy.

Also move out the way Rape Horse Rape Troll is coming.

**English down below**

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

Volume 25 of Berserk is a chilling and sublime journey into the darkest depths of Kentaro Miura's masterpiece. Without a doubt, the standout that left the greatest impact on me was the final chapter. In this installment, Miura manages to create an experience that is raw, horrifying, and simultaneously sublime.

The final chapter serves as a vivid reminder that Berserk is not for the faint of heart. The scenes from the world of Qliphoth are staggering, plunging us into a realm of nightmares that feels astonishingly real. Miura spares no detail in depicting grotesque imagery, adding a level of intensity that is hard to find anywhere else.

However, what truly makes this volume exceptional is Miura's ability to balance brutality with beauty. Despite the horrifying scenes from the world of Qlipthoth, his skill in crafting landscapes and fantasy creatures that are truly sublime is astounding. The contrast between the darkness and the majesty creates a unique atmosphere that fully immerses you in his world.

In summary, Berserk Volume 25 is a masterpiece in its own right. Its capacity to impact and move through its art and storytelling is outstanding. This final chapter is a reminder of why Berserk is considered one of the greatest manga ever created and why Kentaro Miura is an exceptional artist. It's an experience that leaves you shaken and eagerly anticipating more.

Continuing the Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc - The Holy Evil War Chapter

The gang go to the near by village to try and stop the Troll invasion. Serpico's wind sword is really cool. He's almost at Guts's level of skill. Or perhaps higher skill level but not as strong.

The village priest is really having a tough go of things. He doesn't want help from magic, but also doesn't want all his people to be killed by trolls. They all hide in the church and Schierke (her elf's name is Ivalera) puts a spell around the church preventing spirits from the astral world from going in (IE the trolls).

An orgre shows up and starts throwing huge wood pillars at the church so Guts goes to fight it. Once a Kelpie shows up, a thing that can summon water, Serpico gets involved in the fight. Using his wind elementals, he can nearly fly now! Schierke summons a spell that nearly drowns the whole town. She saves the day, but Farnese and Casca are taken away by Trolls.

The trolls den is in the astral plane. It seems the whole world will be consumed by the astral plane soon.

This is the 25th volume in the Berserk series. In this volume Guts and crew defend a town from trolls, an ogre, and a kelpie. We also get to watch Schierke wield some pretty awesome magic. At the end of it the trolls are swept away but so are Casca and Lady Farnese; they have both been taken captive by the trolls.

Schierke teaches us a lot more about how magic works and explains about the different astral planes. The addition of magic to the series has been fascinating and I really enjoy it. I love Schierke as a character and think she’s added a lot of interest.

The artwork continues to be well done and I enjoy where the story has been heading. This series continues to stay new and fresh and I am loving it.

Overall a great addition to this series; this is such a high quality manga series and has remained consistently so. I would recommend to mature readers who enjoy fantasy horror manga series.

what the hell is this? can I skip all the crap about magic and witches and get back to a story, Guts never set out to "understand whats going on in the world and put a stop to evil", I don't need every little detail explained to me, I never needed it in the past, if the writers are going to go out of their way to give me all this crap then they can go back and explain the missed details from the previous books.
If guts had destroyed a village in saving it from monsters at any other time he would have been driven out as a heretic or demon, not praised and thanked by the priests. I also love how they have to put that bit of gore in at the end for no reason other than to make up for the cartoon aesthetic, like they forgot that this series is actually dark and just remembered the tone of it when they were wrapping up.

A predictive and boring sidestory, used to further introduce Schierke. Oh and more rape...

I'm starting to wonder if I will even finish Berserk.... On one hand, there's only 15 volumes left, on the other hand the last few have been very boring, and there will probably never be a satisfying end to the series. :/

Vols 21-25

Despite the clumsy lead up, the Incarnation Ceremony turned out appropriately massive and cathartic. And now Griffith is back, on his journey of conquest, either crushing or tempting all in his path. I don’t think he’s ever been rendered as gloriously by Miura before, like a radiating force of nature atop his hawk-winged caparisoned horse.

We see Guts’ travelling party shaping up, with Farnese, Serpico and Isidro all getting to have their arcs taken in interesting, compelling directions. The shadowy enchanted forest where they face off against the troll menace is a great new setting for Miura to stretch his artistic muscles, infusing his story with the alternatingly folksy and ominous vibes of a darkly warped fairy tale.

In particular, I love the extremely snug, brambly, Elven-looking witch hut of newcomer Schierke, whose design also revolves around fairy tale motifs, with long robes and face sheepishly concealed beneath an oversized pointed hat. Some great character moments between her and Guts reinforce that the character growth in this arc so far is considerably more satisfying than in the Conviction arc before it.

This one totally caught me by surprise!!!! From all of the vigorous battles against the trolls to everyone including the village realizing how powerful Schierke really is!!! And not to mention in this is and in 23 & 24 it feels like guts is letting up a little bit and remember how it feels to truly be part of a team for something (kind of like how it was with the hawk but everyone has their better purpose) AND THE TROLL CAVE/QLIPOTH!!! Something else!!! This must be related to Griffith somehow…

"How can one human do this much..." (So real) "are not souls in want of salvation all the same?" (I love her perception of the world)
Also character development is INSANE

-"This is the will of god!! This village should entrust all to the fate god has assigned it!!
-This man is the same. The same as the...old me...sending people to their deaths...in the name of god."

Very good! I like how the concepts of the world like the Godhand and the Apostles are being explained more explicitly by the witch. It was good to have it more obscure at the beginning, but the explanations are very nice now. The new cast of characters is very fun, and it's encouraging to see Guts character soften a bit while still having a darkness within
