The famous poem, "Footprints", has just taken on new value. This small inspirational book is filled with tie-in scriptures that go along with each stanza of the poem. The author has done a beautiful job of summarizing every piece of the poem with real-life examples, and then providing scriptures to help the reader to understand God's Presence in our lives. I've used this book many times as a reference to write scriptures of encouragement to those who need uplifting in times of pain and weariness. It also makes a perfect gift. The copy I own is distributed by Hallmark.
I haven’t read such a pile of self-indulgent, delusional twaddle since Shantaram. As a person of faith, I want to object in the strongest terms against this woman’s treatment of the subject. I suspect that it is all a complete fiction; even if it is not, her duels with the opportunistic “Christians” that attempted to capitalise on her loss of the manuscript for the titular poem tarnish the visage of Christianity beyond repair.
Regardless, this is nothing short of a waste of your time. As opposed as I am to book-burning, I’d be hard-pressed to find it in me to protest this book’s complete destruction.
I've always liked the "Footprints" poem, and the Scripture quotes arranged in categories from the poem was nice. It was heart-warming and inspiring to ground the Bible in practical knowledge.
However, I was a little disappointed that the same verses showed up several times. They were good quotes, but the Bible's a big book, and I'm sure others could be found. Still worth a read. (October 2008)
Each chapter of the book focuses on a line from the famous poem. Each chapter includes a message and many biblical passages that pertain to a particular line in the poem. A nice book for individuals going through a rough time needing spiritual support and guidance.
I use books like this as reference books. When I need something to refer to when looking for verses on a specific topic, I go to books like this. I read this through and I enjoyed it. There were a lot of good verses and tidbits. Overall, I thought it was well put together.
