Rate this book
My life went from heaven to hell in one day.
Born with a silver spoon, I mated with my best friend and future Alpha.
But everything shattered like a bubble when my mate's father accused my grandmother of murder, resulting in my exile from the pack.
While my beloved mate did nothing, except leaving a 'surprise' in my womb.
Luckily, I managed to survive in a human town by doing humble labor.

However, my tranquility was shattered by my grandfather's letter.
It was a fake letter, supposedly from my mate, proving my innocence.
His love for me never wavered, even though the whole world seemed to be turned upside down and our packs were endangered.

To make matters worse, the enemy was so powerful that not even death could resist his summons...

Should I risk everything for a pack that never trusted me?
Or should I return and continue my peaceful life like a human?

This book is a mess 😣. The events at the beginning of the book are just thrown at you and are not explained until almost 1/2 way through the book. At this point I was so annoyed there was just no getting past it.
It felt like the author came up with a rejected mate storyline and just threw random shit at it hoping something would stick but it just didn’t work well.

Don't bother

Seriously, I pretty much skimmed most of the book. First of all, we're thrown into the middle of a plot without getting familiar with the setting or the characters. So how can I feel any type of connection with them? Sure, some authors can do this well and will catch you up in flashbacks. That doesn't really happen here. It just really felt cobbled together.

2.5 - honestly, I feel bad because I know the author worked hard to craft this fantasy world, but it had some structural issues.

The couple: Scott and Alyssa

Romance trope: shifter; rejected mate
Series: Rejected Mate and Secret Baby
Length: 267 pages

Plot: Alyssa is attacked, mated, and marked one night by a wolf shifter she has never met. She was a human and now she's not. She's dragged back to his pack and locked up in a room. After she was let out, she's bullied by the mean girls of the pack and ignored by the alpha, her mate, until he finally exiles her. She's pregnant, though, and he'll never know until she goes back to him to have his mark removed.

Commentary: I do wish that authors wouldn't list all the tropes in the title of the book. I know that's for SEO, but it makes me think this is more about marketing than it is the story (and I know, I know, you have to sell books to get the story to people, but isn't there a way to hit SEO without dumping all the tropes into the title of the book? (Not to mention that the name of the series is also just the name of the tropes)

At any rate. That poor girl needed a babysitter, stat. I get not wanting to be separated from your kid, but she was taking that four-year-old onto the battlefield with alarming frequency. Not to mention that at one point, it sounded like she was going to let her son choose whether he wanted to stay with her or Scott. Slow your roll, Judge Judy! He's 4! He doesn't get to decide his own custody! And seriously, you would have left your four-year-old son with a man you met for just a couple of weeks after he assaulted you, whose pack is in shambles and at war, who can't protect himself or his loved ones, who doesn't know who is friend or foe, and who barely met him two minutes ago? Wow.

I'm unclear what the need is for a waitress at a rock-climbing gym. But I guess it was good she worked there, since her one-time beau forced her to fight for her mate's life with a boxing challenge. That was super weird. And random.

He raped her. I know he was under the influence of the witches/wizard, but at the time, there was nothing to indicate it was anything unwanted, so later she's reminiscing about it and deciding she loves him after all? With nothing in between?
He marked and mated her, brought her home, ignored her, watched her get bullied and beaten, and exiled her. She came back, he was happy, then he had sex with her and exiled her again. Third time's a charm? I don't see the appeal - she slept with him twice, had no good experiences (although maybe that second night was spectacular sex), spent no time getting to know him, and only ever saw him putting his pack first. There was no connection at all between the characters.

The story started but felt like we were missing information. I felt like there was some world-building missing, because it seemed to me like the author was trying to do more than just a romance, which I appreciate. It just needed some follow-through (or drawing back, I guess, if it was just a romance with no fantasy elements). For example, maybe I missed it, but I couldn't tell if she was completely ignorant of shifters before, was she a latent shifter, did she know they were there - she seemed pretty blase for someone who knew nothing ahead of time.

I did like that she didn't fuss too much about being rejected or exiled - she just went on with her life and was even going to date again. When he was like, "oh we can be together again," she was not on board. That's the way to deal with a jerk like that!

Grammar/formatting: could have used another editing pass

Previous book in the series: Alpha's Secret Baby: Rejected Mate Secret Baby Second Chance Paranormal Werewolf Romance

I felt like it was close to a good story, but just needed some shoring up.

eh bleh ugh

This is a two star read I would even allow the argument of it being a one star read there is a trigger event at the immediate open of the book that is not referenced in a trigger list or trigger warning. It is used callously in statements, and references to the past. The characters are not great in-depth or action. It is a subpar book.

Bobby is the only character with any sense. Followed by Alyssa but her sense is LOW. it is almost painful at times to read these characters mess up their interpersonal relationships so spectacularly.

The first book of the rejected mate and secret baby was good - this was not

Great book

A book about a girl who is bitten by a wolf and mated but then he rejects her 5 years later comes back to have that mark removed since he banished her and she had his son all alone. And then he grovels for her forgiveness.

Hated it

I hated this book so so much. The girl was
dumb , I've read many books about wolf packs. This wolf was the weakest Alpha and I hated how he shows his weakness being betrayed over and over. He projected more beta vibes than anyone.

Luna"s Baby Wolf

I have never seen an alpha treat their mate the way Scott treated Alyssa. I think after hearing his explanation I realized why he was the way he was. A little stupid and arrogant, but he meant well.

I didn’t love it

The MC was too wishy washy and the reasons didn’t make any sense. This is a hard pass for me. Although the FMC was not horrible.

MC gets raped in first chapter. No warnings or anything. She supposedly gets raped by her fated mate. DNF’d. Rape is not romantic to quote another reviewer!

Unfortunately I DNF this book. I got about 50% into it and I just did not care about the characters. This book was overall meh and there are better shifter romances out there in my opinion.

Needs work

Plot was erratic and didn't make sense in a lot of areas. No smooth flow to the whole book. Needs a lot of work.

Zero stars - rape is not romantic! DNF 20%

Alyssa, a human, was raped by her mate Scott. The rape is in the first pages, she is crying, terrified, in pain, she is trying to disconnect while she is being violated....Scott brings her back to his pack, she doesn't fit in bc she is a weak human. He never protects her and publically rejects her on multiple occasions, and he exhiles her over a lie. Somehow the story in Alyssa's head became romanticized and she actually misses him or more specifically she misses his body on her and his touches (the only time they had any physical contact was the rape scene)?!

If I could give 3.5 stars that would be my rating. The beginning was a bit confusing but once I got into it the book flowed well. The FMC meets the MC when she is walking in the woods and he marks her and is taken to his pack. When she is rejected, she is exiled and finds herself pregnant and alone. After she finds shelter she builds a life for herself but wishes to be free of the mate bond and travels to request her release. When she returns the pull of the mate bond is intense and pack drama ensues. If you enjoy traditional fated mate storylines you will enjoy this novel!
