When she's forced to practice self-defense against a lecherous billionaire, Celeste's boss forces her to go on vacation. Except it feels more like exile. But to save her career, she has no choice. Kanoe Anakalea's first impression of Celeste is that she's another pale, uppity tourist. When they meet, both are blindsided by a sea of emotions, and an erupting volcano of sexual attraction. But Celeste only has ten days. And everyone knows vacation flings can't last. Or can they?
Raised on a boat in the South Pacific and in the quiet rainforests of Hawaii, Dawn Halliday had plenty of time to develop her overzealous imagination. Between exploring deserted atolls, swimming in churning seas, and exploring lava tubes, Dawn started dreaming up stories of love and adventure before she could read them.
When she's not traveling to exotic lands (which she can always justify as "research"), Dawn lives with her True Love and three rambunctious children in Southern California. She writes passionate historical and contemporary romance, and loves every minute of it.
Ok just finished and have to say that I really enjoyed this story which follows workaholic property lawyer Celeste from LA to Hawaii for a much needed break, where she meets local lad Kanoe [sufer come hula boy, or is he?:],where she/they experience the whirlwind of lust, love and friendship all within the space of 10 days. For me this read more like a friends to lovers [despite the fact that the relationship is fuelled by lust:] rather than a couple who'd just met, and fall for each other over a period of a few days. Celeste and Kanoe have a relaxed and comfortable relationship despite the fact that they actually know very little about each other, other than first date kind of stuff. Over the few days they are together their feelings for one another blossom and run the gauntlet from excitment to realization to denial [after all it's only a holiday romance so you can't possible be falling in love:] and back to realization until at the end their parting becomes too unbearable to even consider.
I liked the way the characters interacted with each other, we also get to hear their thoughts, thereby getting a little insider information so to speak. The story flowed nicely too, with some very hot dates, which were an integral part of the story, because it was through these that Celeste and Kanoe really got to know each other.
So all in all a nice sweet read which has made me want to read Honeymoon Castaways
Very enjoyable read. Loved the Big Island setting and the author is very familiar with the islands layout, with a few tiny details being incorrect. Only problem was the heroine was a tad to insecure for someone at the age of 29 about to be named a major playing at her high ended company. Other then that I would recommend this book.
I really loved the Hawaiian locale and the scenes on the big island are wonderful. For me the heroine's constant and I mean incessant moments of biting her lip screamed for editorial attention, however I did enjoy this lava-bound romance.
