When Conona forces you to stay indoors, travel with your mind. This book helped me do this. It helped to also find out about amazing and beautiful places I’ve never heard about before. I was amazed by the multitude of green places there are in Africa, the beautiful beaches from Australia and the history of Asia. Each place has a few historical details and some tips about what you should visit there. It took me a while to read it, because I wanted to enjoy each place. I didn’t want to rush it. Each day I read just a few pages and also, I googled them to find more details about them. It’s not each to encompass 501 places in a book. A page is not enough. 😁 But it’s a good start.

The ultimate travel bucket list! Packed with stunning destinations and inspiration for your next adventure. Dream, plan, and get wanderlusting.
This book is simply incredible! It's got a great design, fantastic layout, wonderful images and most adequate text descriptions. The only thing I would add is a map, which indicates where exactly these 501 destinations are located and also include a few more places to the book. For example, Romania is packed with incredible hidden gems and it’s unfortunate that only the city of Sighisoara makes the cut. All in all, the 501 Must Visit Destinations is most definitely worth its price and value. A big, big recommend!
Shame there are NO MAPS at all in this travel book - how can you write a travel guide without maps???? Also sooooo many mistakes in the text - both typing and factual mistakes :( However, it did give details of some lovely places I'd not heard of before :) I've already been to 47 out of the 501 ... still a few left to visit then!!!!
Quote from the Introduction: It is likely that some - or maybe even all - of your own favourite destinations are not included in this book. So it needs to be stressed that the 501 destinations chosen are just a selection... I found that I have been to less than 100 of the places listed, but I would substitute at least 50 of the other destinations with ones I have been to. So like any list, this one is subjective, but certainly attractively presented. One criticism is the lack of any maps in the book. I found myself regularly consulting my atlas as I read the book. It is also a guide to places that are still worth visiting. Now, if I ever get to America...
Somewhere between coffee table book and encyclopedia, this actually isn't a bad book for reference. Definitely wouldn't recommend it as a comprehensive guidebook for any region though, more so a way to identify important/ popular areas and gather a little knowledge to build on.
The book is organized by continents and further more by countries. The pages are color coded which helps when looking for a specific location. There is a brief overview about each item and a picture included. Some of the most common questions, like Where is it? or How do I get there? or When is the best time to travel is highlighted in the margin. I'm surprised at some of the locations mentioned in the book, certainly not mainstream. I have never heard of some of the places described and on the flip side some of the very famous places are mentioned. A very good buy for an active traveler, with a bit of flexibility and the ability to spend a bit more.
I am a travel junkie and this book was quite entertaining for me, though I felt it was a bit too "clean". I don`t know the ages of the authors, but I was hoping for something a little more - wild. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it, as it proved to be very informative, thorough (perhaps even too much) and covered many countries. The text was always accompanied with a beautiful picture. All in all, this book was a beautiful way to spend time and, if you`re anything like me, pick places you want to travel to.
it was a present from one friend who knows i really do like travel. i guess authors tried to be as comprehensive as possible, but selecting 501 places out of many many beautiful places would be really subjective decision :P anyway, good starting point for those who want to see the so-called must see world ;)
as far as pictures went, i think some destinations deserved a little better quality, but it definitely was a nice read / leaf-through (i think i've read half of it) as it provided interesting and practical information and finally left me with quite an update on my bucket list (and it already was sooo long! :))
This book is so so so huge and big and fat :p my precious upline gave it to me when i've reached new title :) it's kind of amazing if i could travel it all :D
