HRH Prince Chula Chakrabongse of Thailand funded the motor racing of his cousin Prince Birabongse (Bira).
Chakrabongse wrote this book about Bira's greatest rival and friend in a very readable style.
Richard Seaman was born in affluence and coaxed his parents into funding his motor racing activities at a time when the idea of a professional racing driver, especially in Great Britain, was nonsensical. Sheer determination drove Seaman on to become the fourth driver for the German Mercedes Benz team who, together with Auto Union and Nazi funds, were sweeping all before them.
Richard won the then principal Grand Prix on the calendar even though he still wasn't a regular starter. In 1937 he was dominating a wet Belgium Grand Prix when he was killed the wasteful type of crash that was so typical of the day.
