This is a collection of fictionalised accounts of cases handled by Indian Paranormal Society. The cases are more poignant than horrific, and tell us more about our weaknesses and fears than the residents of the other side. A few of those cases are memorable, but most leave us with the taste of loss and pain. Perhaps that's why they are 'haunting'-s. Whether you believe in these tales and their conclusions, or not, is your personal choice. But I appreciate the efforts undertaken by these young men and women to perceive the truth through veils of superstition, ignorance, and prejudices. For that alone, reading this book was worthwhile.
Paranormal means anything which is beyond normal. Paranormal activities denotes the events which cannot be explained with the help of science. It includes mysterious forces which are at work. They are very strange, unpredictable, surprising, protective and emotionally attached.
Hauntings is a collection of eleven short stories. It is based on the actual paranormal investigations by Indian Paranormal Society. I found all the stories very entertaining but they were too short. The stories are not as fearful as the book cover proposes. But it has substance to ponder upon. I was very moved by the climax as to how the spirits remember the wrong done to them.
The life of Indian Paranormal Society members was also running parallel to the short stories. The incident where Meghna family was trapped in a haunted house was very addicting.
Like in the stories I have also felt some real experience around me. Horror was never my favourite genre, but from now onwards I will definitely add horror books to my TBR by my favorite authors.
The main essence of the stories was the writing style of the author. He has written in simple english and to the point, which enhances the reading experience. His writing style is exceptional.
I really enjoyed reading the book. I completed the book within a day. The stories were meant to scare us but I had a thrilling experience all the while.
