I really enjoyed this volume because the visuals are outstanding and they show how powerful imagery was during the Vietnam War. It was fascinating to see how photographs, television reports, and filmed footage shaped public opinion and helped define the conflict for people who were far from the battlefield. I liked the sections on propaganda and how each side used images to influence viewers and control the narrative. This book also explains how Vietnam became a new kind of war, one that unfolded on television as much as in the field. It is a compelling look at how pictures and broadcasts can shape the way a nation understands war.
Not the greatest work of photo journalism in covering a war. There are some nice shots that give a good depiction of the horrors of war, as well as a narrative history....not bad...just not great.
