Rebecca Cooper is a regular, everyday scrapbooker—just like you. She stretches her supplies, thrives on design shortcuts, and scrapbooks when her kids are asleep. In Real.Life.Scrapbooking. she shares simple, beautiful pages about her small-town life, plus easy layout solutions that you can use right away, including building blocks for easy pages and simple schemes. You’ll walk away from Rebecca’s book with tons of tips and inspiring ideas to try—but more importantly, you’ll learn to appreciate your own extra-ordinary life.
Rebecca Cooper leads a small town life in Alberta, Canada, with her husband Randal and their three children Emily, Carson and Addie.
She has always been a scrapbooker at heart, but the 'obsession' she now has with her hobby began officially in 2002 when she first became a mom. Since that time, scrapbooking has inched its way into her heart, changed her everyday perspective, and almost completely taken over the small office in her home.
Rebecca is a photographer and serves as a contributing editor for Simple Scrapbooks magazine. She is an avid reader, loves chocolate (a lot!), and is always game for a long afternoon nap.
One of the best books I have ever read about scrapbooking what is important. What you wont get is super complicated high time consuming layouts with tons of techniques. If that is what you look for in a scrapbooking book, this is not it.
If you are looking for ways of capturing the real meaninful day to day events that make up our lives, with heartwarming journaling and a simple classic style, Rebecca's the gal for you.
I often pull this off the shelf when I am stuck. I don't end up with amazing art worthy pages, but I always find a page to scrapbook and a story to tell. I love this book, one of my true favorites.
This is my go-to scrapbook idea book. When I'm overwhelmed by photos, supplies and tools, and no-time, this book reminds me:
1. it can be done 2. it can be done in little time 3. it can be done with meaningful stories told
I've bought and sold more scrapbook ideas than I can count. This one stays on the shelf, and is often by my bedside, inspiring me to get scrapping again.
Whether you're a new scrapper or a long-time devotee, this book should be on your bookshelf. Rebecca Cooper goes through several elements of scrapbooking, from what to cover, why to document the little things, and how to create eye-catching, simple pages.
Not only are the examples included amazing in their gorgeous simplicity, the journaling she includes on her pages brought me to tears more than once. I appreciate how she covers the good times as well as the not-so-good aspects of family life and parenting.
This book will go on my list of must-haves while I'm scrapping, both for the motivation and inspiration, as well as for the examples it provides.
Book has 4 main sections: Why to scrapbook - journal. What to cover -(the every dayness of life. How - keep it simple. Keeping it real - templates for pages. I liked the How section the best - about where to get inspiration and ideas, ideas for quick projects, how to save money on scrapbooking. At last, a book not using so many doodads! One of the things Rebecca Cooper did well was personalize the story. I will try to do more of that, however, by the end, it gets just a bit tiresome. Hopefully my scapping won't.
I devoured this book from cover to cover as soon as it arrived. Then I ran around the house and took photos of things I would never before have considered scrapbooking before. Then I read this book again.
I think I'm more than a little in love with Rebecca and her style.
Excellent book! Love how she documents important stories from her and her family's every day life in beautiful and very simple layouts. And I love that she scraps a lot in 8,5x11 - same as I do. All in all a very inspirering book and I think I'm going to return to this one a ton of times.
I LOVE this book. One of my favorite scrapping books ever! I love Rebecca's real life approach to scrapbooking and recording memories. Her style is simple and fresh, yet effective. I love her perspective on things. Thanks for all your inspiration Rebecca!
I love Rebecca's scrapbooking style and her simplicity. I love the stories she tells on her scrapbooking pages. This book more than anything else has encouraged me to do a lot more journaling on my pages.
