There will be hell to pay.

Evelyn’s parents have been missing for more than thirty years, and at last Evelyn has a clue as to their fate. Investigating won’t be easy, even for someone as powerful as she is, yet she won’t be deterred. Her preparations have her requesting aid from those of great power and visiting ancient ruins with hidden dangers, yet all of that pales before what she will encounter.

It’s really a shame that she’s truly pissed off.

I was born in October, 1985. Not much of my history would likely be of interest, but I grew up primarily in Utah, a land of ultra-conservative people, and yet oddly open to Science Fiction and Fantasy.

I started trying to write in high school. That didn't go well, and I mostly lost the spark for a long time, only rarely finishing writing a story, as most of my inspiration instead went into tabletop role-playing games, like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. In the process I developed a possibly unhealthy obsession with elves and succubi. If I ever write a story without either, it's probably Science Fiction...and there are even odds that someone will body-mod themselves to look like an elf. Trying to be honest here.

My writing tends to focus on the relationships between characters, though it may not seem like it at times. The stories in the background are just that, a backdrop for the development of the characters and situation. I try to fully think them through, but it's not always the case.

Anyway, not much more to be said. I'm an oddball, and I know it. I'm also somewhat stunned at the success my work has attained thus far, and am trying not to panic over it.

This is fourth in an ongoing sci-fi series that builds characters, plot and other story devices over time. Read them in order.

You know what you're getting with this one. Still over-the-top power fantasy in a sci-fi setting with all the things we have come to expect.

This one culminates a ton of ongoing plots by the end. Enough so that I wonder if Medrano will actually continue the series after all. An afterword seems to indicate so, but I have doubts as there's not a lot more to drive a story. I mean, . There's just not a lot left she can do. And I'm good with that.

I'm giving this four stars, mostly because I had to just go along for a big part of the last quarter or so. A lot of events just happened to fall right to allow them to progress while lining up the conflicts in exactly the right order. Like, there's no way we should have expected . It felt like a lot of special pleading that I had to just roll with. Not that it wasn't entertaining, but it wasn't enough to clench the fifth star rating.

A note about Steamy/Chaste: There's still the harem and those relationships are actually quite endearing. We get some lead-up to intimacy and sex, but nothing really explicit enough that I'd consider it steamy. And it's enough I can't justify calling it chaste. So neither tag applies on this one.

DNF at 15% Could not force myself to focus
There is nothing wrong with, or different from the previous book except it was like I took amnesia pills every time I sat down with this.
I tried to keep going, I tried to go back and reread the last sentence again. Finally I accepted the inevitable.
Once again, there is nothing wrong with the story. I think I might have just had enough of this one. I'll try again later.

Concluding an arc.

Evelyn has finally found a credible clue to her parents whereabouts and even allies to go find them. Problem is that they are likely at the edge of The Rim, at a mysterious planet where no one returns from, guarded by a fleet of over 500 leviathan class warships.... So not so easy an task.

This latest book really raises the stakes quite a bit, and a first glance the tasks set for our protagonist seem insurmountable. As mush as action took a fair point of this book, it remains a slice-of-life book and kept things calm despite all this. It made for an easy and enjoyable read where Evelyn remains our over-powered main character as she solves problem after problem and introduces interesting scenario's just by the mere presence of her power. Only real downside to this series remain the many, many names that float trough the story. Repeat readers of Medrano's book will be familiar with his style and the many, different characters involved. Keeping them all straight took a moment. Especially if you haven't read the previous books recently.

In all a satisfying read that honestly kept me reading well beyond what I panned... (cooking, sleeping and the laundry could wait just a bit longer)

Superb as always!

I'm a great fan of master Medrano, and Eve of Destruction in particular as it was the first series of his I found. Once again Evelyn and her harem end on a collision course with chaos, this time on an even grander scale than anticipated.
The writing is as always engaging and crisp. Fya's shenanigans ridiculous and fun, Evelyn's ridiculous power displayed and the absurd entanglement of lovers and friends showcased.

I could sing praises for paragraphs but suffice to say - it's another amazing installment of the series. I can't wait for the next one and truthfully hope they keep coming until I'm old and frail. Benjamin Medrano is a master of the sapphic craft and as a newly publishing writer I hope to reach his skill. I genuinely place his works amongst the mainstream greats like Brandon Sanderson and Jim Butcher.

On a side note, I'll be buying the audiobook as soon as it's out and if you can't be bothered actually reading, get them. They're really well done. :)

Amazing series, every book gets better

This series has become one of my favorites. I don't bestow the title of "one of my favorites" easily.

It's witty, charming, full of action, diverse characters who are well thought out, and a diverse world, well star systems and worlds actually.

I wasn't expecting so much fresh creativity.

Some worlds in these books cause a double-take as fantasy and sci-fi blend seamlessly as if Dragons, elves, and deities have been traveling in spaceships, wearing magically enhanced armor, and dealing with the fallout of prophesies and djinni for decades.

After reading this series, you'll wonder why no one blended these in such a way before.

I do a lot of reading and listening to audio books. I just started book 4 Dawn of Chaos and the character list is getting a little long. It’s normally fine when reading a series back to back but it’s been almost a year since the last book and I am having a hard time remembering who all the girls on the ship are. Ether a little reminder of each character or a character list would be really helpful.

SO INCREDIBLE

This book was one of if not the singular best ebook ever read written by Benjamin medrano.

Action and intrigue start to finish, Great development among the characters, genuine consensus for some of them, well done plot, very dense story development, tons of things happening start to finish. It was absolutely fantastic

really good book

I really enjoyed this book. I personally think it’s the best of the series so far. I even look forward to the next book because the author gave us hint of what might happen next with the main characters family.

Another great entry in the series.

I love this blend of science fiction space opera combined with a magical fantasy universe.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Evelyn's parents react to everything she has done and who her ancestors are.

A good continuation

A good book. If you've read the previous ones, which if you're reading this one you should have then you know the kinds of things to expect. The ending felt a bit more definitive than previous titles but with a few plot threads to lead in to a sequel

The best one so far

This is easily the best book so far, from this series. Not only does it have a lot of great action scenes but also a lot of humor and the characters have developed quite nicely.

I am still liking the series and will be patiently (sarcasm 😑) waiting for the next book.

Eve and her crew are on their way to find her parents. While doing do they find something that they did not expect to find, and a final boss not from this plane.

Your writing is wonderful. Great dialog, character growth and plenty of action. Did I mention the humor? Please continue the series, do spinoffs for Yrisial and her family.....

This is a very entertaining story. And yet it provides all the elements of a well conceived sci fi paranormal lesfic. I have always been totally satisfied with every book I've read from this writer.

Benjamin does it again. Dawn of chaos is an epic chapter in the life of Evelyn Tarth. Love, life, and fights with a greater dark god is just what was ordered.

Best of the series (so far)

This book could easily be the end of the series, but happily the author says he has more stories to tell about Evelyn. In any case, numerous plot lines are wrapped up satisfactory, with a really big explosion. Even Fya had fun.

Of course, Evelyn is only 50. She'll live a LONG time, so there will be lots of adventures. I hope to read them soon.
