A Cure for Gravity

Rate this book

Mercury Gant climbs aboard his vintage motorcycle and leaves behind his entire life. So, his journey begins taking him from one coast to the other and from the ghost of a woman without a conscience into the arms of a little girl with his eyes.

Umberto Santana walks out of a bank with $314,000 in stolen cash. At seventeen, he is only a boy about to embark on a journey where he will discover he is more of a man than he ever thought he could be.

Then there is Graciela. Beautiful, strong-willed and independent, she is carrying Umberto's baby. She loves Umberto with every thread of her being and it is that unconditional love that may ultimately save both Umberto and Gant.

Traveling the same route unknowingly, Gant and Umberto cross paths while "flying without wings" in the middle of a tornado. Becoming partners, the two sojourners continue together down their road learning about each other, but more importantly, about themselves and the relationships with those they love, have loved, or will come to love.

A novel of love, trust, and transition, A Cure for Gravity is bound tightly together with strands of magic and its workings in everyday life. It is the story of love's power to save and a person's ability to overcome their past. A Cure for Gravity will leave an indelible mark on the reader's heart and mind--an impression they won't soon forget

About the author

Arthur Rosenfeld

Born Arthur Rosenfeld in America, Yun Rou (the name means Soft Cloud) was ordained a Daoist monk in China. Host of the hit national public television show "Longevity Tai Chi with Arthur Rosenfeld", he is the author of award-winning titles and teaches tai chi around the world and in South Florida. As did Alan Watts, his non-fiction books use the wisdom of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching to address climate change, the challenges of culture, society, and everyday living, advancing prescriptions as useful as those in Wayne Dyer's "Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life", but with the east-meets-west philosophical flavor of Eckhart Tolle and Henry David Thoreau. His novels, by contrast, bring a New York literary sensibility to the emerging "Silkpunk" genre, blending Chinese history, some science fiction, and fantasy into adventurous, rollicking, thought-provoking reads.

Do you ever pick up a book off your bookshelf and think: "Oh, I have been wanting to read this forever?" You start to read and then realize you've read it before. That is what happened with this novel. I remember that I loved the feelings and emotions it evoked and thought, I am reading this again. Many years ago I read "Diamond Eye" by the same author and wished there were a series written with that character involved in other cases. This novel "A Cure for Gravity" was written before that and I had no idea. The book is intriguing with believable characters. It's hilarious and daring as two of the characters travel coast to coast and continue to learn about themselves and their relationships with others. The author Arthur Rosenfeld lives in south Florida and also happens to be a martial arts master.

Super-random book - I enjoyed it, but had a hard time wrapping my head around it.

What an interesting and unexpected book! Ross Thomas (look it up) meets Isabel Allende - who would possibly have thought of this combination? Very enjoyable.
