I'm constantly referring to this book. Lewis McArthur, and his son have done a great job researching the origin of Oregon Place names. This is a must have for anyone interested in knowing the history behind Oregon's somewhat quirky town and other geographic names.

This book will never be finished. :) It's a reference book for all of the names of places on Oregon. Well researched, it's a fascinating read. There's a lot to this state!
