EN I was reading this story, convinced that I had finally figured out who the murderer was — after all, it seemed so obvious! — only to realise, by the end, just how wrong I had been.
Agatha Christie is truly a one-of-a-kind master in the art of crafting plots. She skilfully misleads us with red herrings, deceiving us while simultaneously astonishing us with the revelation of the real culprit.
This book is yet another well-executed adaptation of this brilliant author’s work. This time, the story takes us to Ancient Egypt, into the heart of a powerful family whose members compete for the inheritance and authority of their patriarch, Imhotep.
A read that will surely not disappoint Agatha Christie's fans.
I think my favourite comic among the ones I've read from Agatha Christie's books. The setting allows for some gorgeous art showing off how the homes in Ancient Egypt (presumably) looked. I didn't remember the story having so many dead bodies, I think it's the one with the biggest casualty rate after "And then there were none". The characters seemed distinctive enough which was a problem before, but yes, as usual the ending wasn't exactly properly foreshadowed.
I wasn't thrilled by the story. It all goes around family disputes, which is not that much interesting. There is nothing suprising in this story either - when an older guy brings a new, young and bossy wife home, surely it is a recipe for a tragedy. However, it felt that more of the pages were devoted to arguments than to building the suspense. It was hard to guess who was the killer because of that and I cannot say I really cared as I didn't really like the characters.
