Molly Forrester had always hoped opportunity would knock, not throw itself at her feet. She enjoys playing a "Dear Abby" type for Zeitgeist magazine, a Manhattan glossy "wedged on the newsstand somewhere between Marie Claire and Cosmo." But when she literally stumbles onto a crime-tripping over a colleague's body and ruining her new pair of Jimmy Choos-she sees the potential to sink her teeth-or heels-into some real news for a change.

After all, writing a column dealing with people's secrets should be good preparation for solving a murder. Especially since the victim was a notorious lady's man. Still, even an expert could use some help. So Molly enlists Cassady and Tricia, the best friends she always turns to for support, shoes, and the proper cocktail.

She might even take a cue from that cute homicide detective... Or is he cozying up because he thinks Molly's a killer?

Sheryl J. Anderson delivers a wickedly funny, sexy, and suspenseful novel about one girl tackling a killer in the Big Apple. Compared to negotiating Manhattan's singles scene, solving one eensy teensy stabbing shouldn't be that big a deal.... Right?

Smart, funny, and twisty, this is a sophisticated light Mystery with an immensely likeable protagonist, equally appealing friends, and a hot detective. What's not to like?!

Short Review: I love Law & Order and this book appealed to me because of that. The only issue i had was that the ending was soooooo rushed!! Like for reals, you spend almost 300pgs having her run around and then spend like 2pgs explaining how dun it. I need much more than that. The MC needs to dump her wet noodle and shack up with Edwards, MEOW! ;)

Misc.

Book Boyfriend: Detective Edwards.
Best Friend Material: Cassady and Tricia

Molly is a reporter for a magazine that writes a lot of "fluff" pieces. When one of her co-workers is murdered in the office, and she almost trips over the body, things get serious for Molly. She's going to find out what really happened, even if it means going against the hot detective Edwards orders. But when the detectives start to suspect Molly things get even more complicated.

This book was okay. I was a little bored at times, but I thought it was interesting at other times. I didn't like how Molly's relationship with Edwards worked out. I felt like that wasn't explained very well, and I didn't really understand what was going on either.

I also hated the fact that she wouldn't just break up with the current guy she was dating, that was just stupid in my opinion and made me think less of Molly.

I'm not sure if I will read more in this series, but it was a funny read to pass the time with.

Molly Forrester writes an advice column for Zeitgeist, a Manhattan magazine. She'd like to write for a more prestigious magazine and sees her chance when Teddy Reynolds, advertising director for Zeitgeist, is murdered and she literally stumbles over his body at the magazine offices. Molly wants to try and sell the story of Teddy's murder from her viewpoint and decides to try and solve the murder herself as an additional selling point for the article. She has another incentive to solve the murder - hunky police detective Kyle Edwards seems to think Teddy's wife, Helen, killed him and Molly is convinced that the real killer works at the magazine. Soon Molly realizes that many people have secrets, secrets they want to keep, even if it means killing again.

"Killer Heels" is an excellent first book in what looks to be a fun series. Molly is a great heroine, both spunky and resourceful. Her best friends, Cassady and Tricia, are also likable. I'm not a "Sex and the City" fan and was a bit wary about reading a book with constant references to designer clothes and shoes, but they didn't bother me at all, in fact they added to the fun tone of the book. There's plenty of humor as well as suspense in the book. The mystery is well plotted with some red herrings along the way to keep a reader guessing who the murderer is.

This is a nice humorous mystery and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

1st in series. Very good, fast paced mystery. Sometimes the main character get complete run on thoughts (like me) which was frustrating at first. Can’t wait to read the next one

The story read like a breezy 80's romance book, merged with Sex & the City characters, but written as a cozy mystery. I am not a fashionista so all the designer references really didn't resonate with me. Even though the story began with the murder up front, it still lagged at times. Even so, I enjoyed the story and characters when viewed as a cozy mystery--not at a bakery or bookshop! I figured out the culprit really early on. SPOILER AHEAD.....

The relationship with Detective Edwards was VERY problematic to me. Super inappropriate for a murder investigation. Too steamy for the situation? Something seemed yucky to me.

Easy read. Finished it in a morning. Overall, a good read. I just wish her relationships had been better developed. With the detective it was so rushed and half the time it didn't seem plausible. And with the ex, I was annoyed that she wouldn't just break up with him. The murder mystery aspect was pretty good, lengthy at parts but overall good.

An easy and very fun read. All the characters feel like they could of been ripped off the screen from Sex and The City, for better or worse. The plot is intriguing and ties itself well initially, but comes a bit undone towards the end.

I really liked this book to a point. But I did guess the killer very early on and I didn’t like the way that it was handled at the end. However, this book kept me reading the whole time, and I really had a lot of laugh out loud moments. The end didn’t really make sense to me though.

A little clique with a few interesting twists - also could have done without the forced one-side romance and various motives dealing with affairs with the 1st murder victim.

Sometimes you just need a fun book...nothing cerebral, nothing poignant. This book fits the bill. Predictable but plain and simple fun!! I enjoyed the ride.

It was fun for a light read with not very involved characters. Definitely a sex and the city vibe with a hint of murder to solve.

An okay book. I like shoes as much as the next woman, but I don't consider liking shoes a personality trait, like it was supposed to be for the MC Molly. The mystery itself was interesting, I just don't know if the characters and background will ever resonate with me. I may try book 2, but it won't be for awhile.

Molly Forrester writes for Zeitgeist in the advice column like Dear Abby but one night her new pair of Jimmy Choo stumble into the body of her dead colleague. Since Molly writes a column about dealing with peoples secrets it should be a piece of cake solving a murder. Molly enlist the help of her Lawyer friend Cassady and Event planner Tricia to support and help her find the murder. As luck would have it a cute Homicide detective can't decide if Molly is guilty or truly just wanting to help a friend out.
I will admit it I have found a love for Cozy Mysteries and I can't help but giggle, fall in love with and enjoy every second of a light murder Mystery with a touch of romance.
Killer Heels is the perfect book to sit by the pool and enjoy hours of tanning while laughing endless at Molly how she seems to find herself too many dead bodies and her love life taking a turn in the right direction. This book is wickedly clever with moments of honest to good humor and simple who don it. The killer is pretty easy to figure out with most cozy mystery but I found the writing so much fun it kept me reading to the very end.
I found myself borrowing book 2 from the library just in case I liked book 1 and I glad I did.
The found very little language in the book and sex was stooped at the door and lets be honest sex scene while sun bathing do not mix because you can never tell the difference between a sun burn and blushing. I love the banter between Molly and the Detective and found it to be lively, natural and quite fun.
If you like the High Heel Mysteries by Gemma Halliday this book will fit perfectly next to it.

One my of my favorite scene in the book is when Molly stumbles across the dead body.
"Call Ticia on her cell. "
Cassady squinted. "Your kidding right?"
Actually, I wasn't. "Who else?"
"I thought I'd start with the Police." I couldn't stop laughing thinking I would do the same thing first call my best friend and than the police. Every girl needs someone to tell right?

What a treat to discover a fun, new-to-me series seven years after its kickoff! No long wait, and I can just dive immediately into the follow-up.

Molly Forrester, advice columnist for Zeitgeist magazine, is a welcome addition to my list of aspiring, savvy, hard-working women thrust into the midst of a crime (or three) who work their way through the events, peoples' reactions to said events, and then come up with a resolution. Only in Molly's case, she's got two great friends who aid and abet her, and her sardonic wit and snappy comebacks render it a pleasure to read.

Molly's a bit of a girly girl New Yorker, which she should be given the fact that she works at an up-and-coming fashion magazine. That said, with the help of Google Images I can now join her in distinguishing a pair of Jimmy Choo Cat 85mms from Stella McCartney pumps. It's equally nice to have a protagonist who can quip like Robert Parker's Spenser at the top of his game but is a good deal better dressed. (And please recall that within his own context, Spenser and Hawk could rise to the sartorial occasion when warranted, so that's saying a lot for Molly.)

It will be interesting to see how Molly navigates the magazine subculture and when she'll be able to move on from her current gig to a different job title at a better-known magazine. Since she managed to both solve coworker Teddy's (and a subsequent) murder and spin it into an interesting essay for a competing magazine, Molly Forrester is clearly a young woman who is going places. Interesting places. And I'll be happy to follow her there.

Molly Forrerster is working for a NYC magazine as an advice columnist but she has higher journalistic aspirations. When she and a friend literally stumble over the murdered body of a coworker, Molly hopes to solve the crime and write the article that will launch her career.

When I first started this book, I was not really enjoying it. I put it aside to read something else. I am so glad I went back to it. This is a very funny and entertaining chick lit mystery. Molly and her friends are sort of Sex In the City New York women. I thought I was getting a peek into single life in NYC. The mystery is OK. I sort of knew who the killer was but was not sure why until sort of late in the book. Lots of fun.

I sought out this mystery series on the recommendation of Mindy Kalling's Stuff I've Bought That I Love blog and, on the whole, I am not disappointed that I did. I guessed the killer pretty early on, simply from her inexplicable prominence, but I didn't figure out all the why's of the case until Molly herself did. None of the characters were as fully developed as I would have liked, but hopefully that changes as the series goes on, and I enjoy them in their essentials. And, of course, I am a sucker for a potential budding relationship between Molly and Detective Edwards. Neither the best chick-lit, nor the best mystery, but a reasonably satisfying combination of the two.

Molly had two best friends. She worked as the Dear Abby of a ladies magazine. Out for drinks one night she was explaining that the magazine that she worked for had just purchased a horrible piece of art. Cassady was very curious and begged Molly to show it to her. They went to the magazine and before Molly could turn on the lights for the "ta da" effect, she stumbled over something and felt her shoes getting soaked. A dead body of a colleague is on the floor and the mystery begins.

The book was light and a fast read. It is not a transparent who dun it so it was pleasurable to read. I would recommend it to others. Now I will start her second book to see how that one goes.

In Sheryl Anderson's Killer Heels, the first installment in the Molly Forrester mystery series, this mystery has it all--romance, humor, and plenty of intrigue. Molly was a columnist for Zeitgeist magazine, when she wanted to get away from it all and become a real journalist. As she discovered the dead body of a colleague, that's when she investigated the murder and met the handsome Kyle Edwards, a police detective for the NYPD. As they dug into Teddy Reynolds's life, she suspected a couple of people from her magazine, until her boss wounded up dead. The closer the truth she'd gotten to uncover an, the more she couldn't believe the real culprit was and why, when her life was on the line.

I LOVED this fun romp into a murder mystery in NYC! It's Sex in the City meets Agatha Christie with the best writing I've ever seen in this genre. I laughed out loud a lot, guffawed more than I've ever guffawed in my life, and marveled at not only the perfectly woven storyline for a mystery but how these jump off the page characters kept me enthralled and reading late into the night to find out who did it! Anderson concocts a sympathetic heroine we root for no matter what, in Molly Forrester but doesn't go overboard.
If you need a laugh, appreciate the beauty of the "every woman" and find yourself wondering what to read next, you won't be disappointed in Killer Heels.

It's good for what it is: A light murder-mystery. (It really deserves 1.5 stars, but that's not an option.) The book jacket gives away a key plot point, however, so the suspense isn't as high as it could have been.

The brand-name dropping and the pop-culture references only serve to make the book feel dated.

The protagonist's job as an advice columnist is a device for inner monologue, which gets tedious the third time it's used. And the broadly drawn characterizations of a lawyer and an event planner were laughably bad.

I would *not* recommend other books in the series.

Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapur on the Office) recommended this murder mystery/Sex & the City mash-up on her blog as a fun breezy summer read. Carrie Bradshaw-esque advice columnist solves a murder with assistance of Charlotte & Samantha/Miranda-esque friends, hooks up with detective with good bone structure. A very mild read, with not an extraordinary amount to offer by way of suspense, sex, wit, or insight into fashion.

This wasn't the greatest mystery but I will admit I was guessing on who it was between three suspects I had in mind. This story didn't evoke any emotions from me but it was entertaining nevertheless. The heroine, Molly Forrester, was an amateur sleuth who didn't really help solve anything in my opinion. Overall, it wasn't bad but if you want to read something similar in the mystery genre, I suggest the Psychic Eye series by Victoria Laurie. 3/5 stars.

Found this at the library. I was looking for something fun to read. The quote on the front mentions Stephanie Plum so I decided to give the book a try. Too much Sex in the City feel and not enough Stephanie Plum for my taste but I'm only on page 100. I will hold judgement until the end.

Its offical, not enough Stephanie Plum (no cars exploded). I was really hoping to laugh out loud but I was only slightly amused.

This is the first mystery book I've read in a while, and definitely the first of its kind. I'm not disappointed at all. Definitely going to dive into the rest of series ASAP. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because at a certain point I was able to figure out who the murderer was, and I would have liked to be on the edge of my seat until the last page. Still a great book, though, and perfect to take a break in between some of the more intense series that are out there.

I saw it on a display table when I walked into the library. On the cover were the New York City skyline and a pair of fuchsia stilettos. I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover but I couldn't help it. It was about a 29ish girl who tried to solve a murder on her own and get to the bottom of the scandal. It was a fun light read 13 an easy way to start the New Year 13 but nothing to run out and get right now.

I'm obsessed with comedy murder mystery books and this one was no exception.

As a journalist, I particularly liked that this one was set in magazine land, and could totally relate to the lead... well, except the bit where she trips over a dead body at the office right at the start.

Can't say that's ever happened to me before! A really fun first book that had me super keen for subsequent novels in the series.
