This book is a microcosm of the Celts. In short paragraphs, illustrations and photos of the Celtic tradition are discussed. It was a good jog of my memory.
One of the last sections was documents of the existence of the Celts. I found this to be the most I formative. It is interesting to see one society through the eyes of a second society’s- in this case Etruscans and Greeks.
I was surprised that many of the artifacts of the Celts are recents finds from new techniques to find artifacts in the ground in the late 1990’s. Using this technology, expeditions to dig were identified and completed. Many amazing finds throughout Europe revealed the wealth and artistry of the Celts beyond the religious manuscripts that were studied when I first learned about this civilization.
I loved the photos of art the most. I found that the easiest way to read this book is to go through the photos first and study the art. Then I would go back and read the prose that surrounded them in that chapter and it helped me absorb the information faster.
