I will keep this one as a reference. Many simple and practical bits of advice that leaders in churches need to lead their people. Slightly outdated, but still worth at least a scan and to be kept of the shelf for future consultation.
I really liked this as a reference for the administrative processes surrounding leading a church. It helped me to realize than when done well, clear processes can enliven creativity rather than quench it.
My administration gifts are some of my weakest skills in leadership, so I found this book particularly helpful - though more naturally gifted administrators might label most here as “common sense”. While a lot of people may not benefit much from this outdated yet still relevant handbook, the church leaders I know would appreciate this book.
This book was recommended on the Anabaptist Disciples of Christ website.
I wish there was an updated version of this book for today. This is a great all around book for any pastor to read. Gangel covers much essential ground in ministry for any pastor or staff person involved in a church setting. I highly recommend this.
