I read/skimmed This book. Summary appeared interesting. Old boyfriend is in an accident loses his memory of everything except the summer when he was 17 and his girlfriend Claire. Claire is now 32 married for eight years. Receives a postcard from the old boyfriend‘s wife asking her to come and see him because she’s all he talks about. Claire’s marriage has reached a rough patch so she travels back to the town in Maine where she met him 17 years ago. Bottom line, the guy gets his memory back and she ends up fine with her husband. Wouldn’t recommend.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I listened to the audio version so that could be why it wasn't as slow going for me as it was for others. I listened to it in less than one day. I felt emotion for the characters- I felt band and sad for Riley and his loss of memory. I felt bad for Clare "MAC" and her confusion over her marriage and her still existent love for Riley after 17 years apart. For Riley's family, his wife and kids that he no longer remembered but still loved him. I felt bad for Riley's wife- Laura i think- who had to live in the shadow of his first true love all their lives together- who then had to possibly sacrifice everything in order to get him back by contacting that great love- a love that even his kids knew about- were told bedtime stories about- Clare Mac. I enjoyed the ending- how she Clare was able to help him move on- and try to rebuild a relationship with his wife and kids- urging him to create new memories to replace the ones he had lost. How in helping Riley- Clare helped herself and her marriage to a man who was slowly drifting apart from her in order to take care of his mothers- yes plural- but not gay- just read the story- who did not life Clare because she wouldn't call them mom since she had lost hers years before to cancer. It was good- and I would recommend it to a friend- especially the audio version. The reader had a nice voice to listen to.

I really didn't like this book at all during the whole first half of it and just about gave up reading it. But finally half-way through I felt like the story started. It did get really confusing as the author constantly jumped from the present to the past, always leaving me a little confused about what timeframe I was actually reading about. It wasn't a great book, but I did like the way the book ended.
In their teens, Riley and Clare were lovers. Twenty years later Riley suffers an accident and Clare receives a post card from his wife asking for help. It seems that despite a wife and two children, Riley’s memory stops at that summer he was in love with Clare. The premise seemed good but frankly the book left me a little lukewarm.
I don’t tend to read books in this genre that often but I am happy I did. I loved this book. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. It was a unique and interesting read for sure. I highly recommend it. I liked the story and enjoyed the writing style.
