Nikolay Alexeyevich Nekrasov (Николай Алексеевич Некрасов) was a Russian poet, writer, critic and publisher, whose deeply compassionate poems about peasant Russia won him Dostoevsky's admiration and made him the hero of liberal and radical circles of Russian intelligentsia, as represented by Vissarion Belinsky and Nikolai Chernyshevsky. He is credited with introducing into Russian poetry ternary meters and the technique of dramatic monologue (V doroge, 1845).As the editor of several literary journals, including Sovremennik, Nekrasov was also singularly successful.

I prefer these poems to the more famous “Who can be happy?”. Top tip: “Russian Women”.

Versurile preferate:
Feklușa cea orfană rabdă mult timp tăcută
Privind la toți copiii cum mestecă din turtă,
Dar când în cărți văzuse ce poze sunt, o droaie,
Din ochișorii-i, lacrimi îi curseră șiroaie.
De milă, moșu-i dete un mic abecedar:
„De ești așa sărmană, deșteaptă fii măcar!”

highly structured, melodic poetry, if that's what you're into. honestly not really my cup of tea, but it was interesting to see things from such a foreign perspective. lots to do with romance (women missing/chasing their siberia-bound lovers, etc), maybe a bit too much, but the situations that were illustrated through that were interesting.
