Fred Hollows is an Aussie ledgend, & when he passed away the world lost a really down-to-earth, irreverend, dedicated man... Peter Corris is also one of my Aussie heroes, & in writing this biography he extensively interviewed Fred Hollows & used his own words to tell his story... even now, years after first reading this book, I can vividly recall that reading the words off the page, you could hear the tone & inflection of Fred himself... a wonderful collaboration!

A fascinating glimpse into the life of a "knockabout" Aussie boy who never intended to become a doctor and the man that he became.
The world is grateful for the many and varied experiences that lead him along his path in life.
Easy reading and such an interesting man.

Hard work, beer and eye surgery. Cracker of a book. What a life! Reminds you just how much one person can achieve.
