Three djinn warriors. One power-hungry sorceress. The battle for good and evil has taken a whole new turn...
From New York Times Bestselling Author Elisabeth Naughton, the first book in a series about brotherhood, survival and unexpected love in a world filled with magic and betrayal.
Careful what you wish for…
Sentenced as a pleasure slave, Djinn Prince Tariq of the Marid tribe has but one duty: travel into the human realm and corrupt souls by granting wishes to the women who possess the Firebrand opal, a gemstone of magical power. Ten years of imprisonment have left Tariq bitter, but to save his brothers’ lives, he’ll submit to his endless personal hell, even if it means giving up his own hope for freedom.
When Mira Dawson obtains the Firebrand opal, she’s sure the rumors about its magical qualities must be fiction. Until, that is, she touches the stone and a dark and dangerous warrior appears in her living room, offering to pleasure her beyond her wildest dreams. Soon, fantasy becomes a temptation she can’t deny. The only question left is…will the pleasure be worth the price? Because as Mira’s been warned, nothing…not even fantasies…are free.
Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—award winning author Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A voracious reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Elisabeth now writes full-time.
Though primarily known for her romantic suspense work, Elisabeth has penned over thirty books and continues to write in multiple genres, including paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have earned several award nominations, including three prestigious RITA® nominations from Romance Writers of America. In 2017, REPRESSED, the first book in her Deadly Secrets series, won the RITA® for best romantic suspense.
Elisabeth's work has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as being filled with "deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion.” Kirkus calls her "a writer talented enough at weaving a yarn to get her readers ensnared in it.” When not dreaming up new stories, Elisabeth can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home, wrangling two cats, or chasing after one very rambunctious Dalmatian.
I was happy with this one. Yeah, it's just a novella, but I was good with the way the story played out.
We have Prince Tariq, a Djinn who is forced to work as a pleasure slave by an evil sorceress. By granting lascivious human women their wishes, their souls are corrupted and the sorceress uses their delicious tainted souls to stay young... Or something.
Then we have poor Mira who figures men aren't into her and thinks she needs some lessons in the bedroom. So she uses the magical Firebrand Opal to summon herself a sexy-times teacher.
I like these two; Tariq is hot and has a good soul, and Mira is sweet and is a good person. Their scenes together are heated and quite sexy. I was also a fan of a Middle-Eastern type hero, and kept seeing Oded Fehr in my mind as Tariq. Yum.
This was a novella so loads of things were crammed into it, the princely Djinn hero trapped by a sorceress and forced into doing her bidding for the sake of saving his two brothers.
The heroine Mira summons him because she wants a man she likes to notice him. For the first time Tariq is attracted to someone he has to corrupt, she seems to care about him, who he is, his past and history and he waffles between corrupting her or just taking his punishment.
The romance didn't work for me, it was fast, sex and then suddenly words of love and it just didn't ring true for me. I didn't even the connect to the characters and world building was lacking, maybe if the book had been longer it would have been different.
This introductory erotic short for the series has an intriguing premise but I wasn't completely won over by this entry. Djinn Prince Tariq is bound to powerful sorceress Zoraida and tasked to collect souls by granted wishes to the ever changing owners of a magical firebrand amulet. While looking for a way to break his captivity, Tariq finds that the sorceress also holds both of his brothers and the only way to save them is to continue to complete his assignments. Tariq feels he cannot steal the soul of his latest customer, Mira Dawson because he wants her for himself so he finds ways to drag out the completion. Mira wants most to become more desirable to a fellow at work who goes completely out of her mind after she meets Tariq. There were things I did like here, for instance, Tariq as a reluctant captive and Zoraida as the ruthless and powerful sorceress. The portion of the ending designed to whet your appetite for the next book was well executed and makes me curious because the books are novellas. Rating on Smexy-ness only would give it a much higher rating. Based on the first couple of pages and the synopsis I wanted more. My list of things that didn't work for me was just as long. That I can't say I found Mira of interest mainly due to her flat character. This was very much standard erotica in terms of the object was to get the leads in bed together as quickly and as often as possible. I found the quick availability of answers for Mira once she started doing her research implausible and after spending a total of less than 6hours over the course of a couple of days the unquenchable love and desire to make this man her life - especially with the total of words exchanged not pertaining to sex were less than fifty.
BOUND TO SEDUCTION (Firebrand Series #1) by Elisabeth Naughton (3.75 stars)
BOUND TO SEDUCTION is the premiere novella and May 29, 2012 release in Elisabeth Naughton’s new Firebrand series of novels. Elisabeth introduces a passionate storyline of slavery, seduction and the cost of one man’s freedom.
Mira Dawson is tired of rejection. Although she is beautiful and talented, the men in her life never want to stay around. And she wanted someone in her life. With her sights set on Devin Sloan, a fellow employee, Mira goes on the hunt for the elusive Firebrand Opal-said to contain magical and unique properties that will ensure all of your fantasies. But with possession, comes a heavy price. Heeding the warning, Mira’s quest for a relationship will take on an entire different direction when a gorgeous man suddenly appears in her doorway asking her heart’s desire.
Tariq is an enslaved warrior, a Djinn Prince of the Marid Tribe, a brother to Ashur and Nasir, and commander of his father’s armies. But a near fatal error has cost him his freedom. For the past 10 years, Tariq has been bound by Zoraida, a powerful sorceress. Using the Firebrand Opal, Zoraida controls and bids Tariq corrupt the human souls by granting their wishes. Used as a pleasure slave, Tariq must fulfill the fantasies of those who command the Firebrand Opal in the human realm. But when the beautiful Mira Dawson calls forth the power of the Opal, Tariq knows that he will never allow Zoraida to gain access to Mira’s soul.
The attraction between Tariq and Mira is immediate and Mira becomes aware that what she desires most will have to be taught by the mysterious stranger who calls to her soul. When Tariq pulls away too quickly, it is Mira whose heart will break until she discovers the true reason for the sudden withdrawal. But with each caress of the Firebrand Opal, Mira will learn what it is to love an immortal Djinn warrior and the cost to each to save the life of the man who she will call her own. With the help of a Djinn lore historian, Mira is determined to put an end to Tariq’s enslavement and put the Prince of the Marid back into the command of his army.
BOUND TO SEDUCTION is a short story written to introduce the premise behind Elisabeth Naughton’s new Firebrand series. With the introduction of Tariq’s brothers, Elisabeth has offered a peak into the future storylines of those bound by the Firebrand Opal. A wonderful start, a great premise and I am looking forward to her next novel in the series in August 2012-Slave to Passion-Nasir’s story.
Bound To Seduction is the first book in the Firebrand series and is the first Elisabeth Naughton book I've read. I wasn't expecting much from this book, I have read a few novels with this storyline before and found them entertaining enough but they were not anything special. Because I have come across books with a similar storyline I thought I would find Bound To Seduction boring, but to my surprise I didn't. Bound to Seduction was not a masterpiece or terribly original but it was entertaining and managed to carry a lot of story in only a few pages.
Elizabeth Naughton wrote this story well. I fell into it easily, it was nicely built and I cared about what happened. There were a few small plot holes and a few places where things could have been explained a little better, but as the storyline was about magic it was easy to overlook these small issues. The novella was not the most engaging short story I have ever read but is also never bored me.
The whole book more or less hangs on Mira being a good and relatable character. If the reader doesn't like her than this book will not work for them. She is the personality and moral compass of the book and luckily I did like her. I found her sweet, she could be a little naïve but that came more from inexperience not stupidity. Tariq was also a good character, he wrestles with some big choices and manages to do so without angst. He was not quite as charming as as Mira but that was not really his purpose. The book was more about Mira than it was about him.
The romance was ok. It was not really built on any substance or real feelings. There was a lot of sex which took up a lot of the room for any emotional growth in the relationship. This lead the romance to feel a little bit inst-lovey. There was some great chemistry between the characters but it never led to anything truly substantial outside the bedroom.
Bound To Seduction does nothing new but thanks to Elisabeth Naughton's writing and characters it was adequately entertaining. It was enough to make me want to read the next book in this series.
The two main characters in Bound to Seduction are both good people caught in the evil spun by the Firebrand Opals. Mira Dawson wants to be found attractive by a man she works with and being a shy girl does not feel confident she can attract him. She acquires a Firebrand Opal and Tariq, the Djinn Prince that has been made a slave by en evil being from his world. She controls him and drains him of his magic by putting a Firebrand Opal around his neck. It is up to Mira to figure out how to help him and free him from this evil curse of slavery. Tariq is attracted to Mira for the first time in his life, so he can't complete his mission and the fireworks start in both worlds for a wonderful story. I loved the use of the Firebrand Opal necklaces and how they were used in the story.
...Djinn and all the sexy shenanigans that come with them. ...a lady who wants to feel confident with her sexiness. ...an evil sorceress who is hellbent on stealing power. ...a hero that is torn between the survival of the woman he might love and his family.
Did I mention the sexy times? Because there are some here. Just sayin'. Overall, it's an enjoyable, light read with those aforementioned sexy times. SCORE!
This was actually a novella. It was a good read but there was so much sex in here there wasn't a great deal of time to develop the characters and for love to grow. It was all of a sudden there.
The book was slow to start but then did pick up a bit. I just felt that the love was sudden.
I'm interested enough to read the rest of the series.
I liked this novella a lot; I had never read a djinn story before so it was a refreshing change. The background of the story was interesting with how he was bound to the opal by the evil sorceress. Mira and Tariq had a steamy relationship that I felt worked well. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
This was the first book of Elisabeth's I've read and it was highly recommended from a friend. I'm so glad I read it! I very much enjoyed the unique story line and can't wait to read the other books in the series.
Steamy sexy hot oh my god gimme the damn necklace! Lol! Wow! I’m willing to pretend that I need to be taught every thing about sex from ahh!! to yes yes yes!
Was tut man in einer solchen Situation?

Holy scorching hot genies, Batman! I think I’m going to melt!
Honestly, I think it’s on fire from this book. Not only was it short-circuiting my Kindle, but I think my fingertips were burned as well from the heat coming out of the thing. I don’t think there was a single thing about this book that I did not absolutely love. ALL the characters caught me— even the backpack. The story was engrossing. And don’t get me started on the sex, I’m still fanning myself.
It was a little awkward for me in the beginning because Mira was so awkward herself. Then Tariq shows up and gives her a little nudge in the right direction and BAM! Sex kit in a weekend! But what I really liked about her was her ability to think of others first. Yes, she had the selfish wish, but she didn’t want to push Tariq to doing something you want to do. She made no decisions without being informed first. She took the time to think out everything and do what she believed to be the right thing. She was such a caring and considerate woman, and the depths of her feelings for Tariq were nothing short of love in its purest form. I thought she was the perfect companion for Tariq.
If I could have Tariq under my spell the way he was in this book, I would be one satisfied woman. He was sex on legs. Hell, he was a sex god! I respected that he did what he had to do for those he cared about. He truly cares about others, despite the situation he was stuck in. When he met Mira, everything changed for him. He been forced into his life for so long that he had forgotten what real emotions were, what real care felt like, and what it was to fall for someone. Being with Mira reawakened everything human in him. For once, he didn’t see being with her as a job, but as a man wanting a woman. He even tried to say from the devastation he knew would follow him. He was noble, strong, and as hot as the sun. The embodiment of an amazing man.
The entire story was nothing short of amazing. It flowed flawlessly, things developed at a realistic pace, and feelings developed to believable level. Although this wasn’t an erotic romance, the few scenes with a did the horizontal rumba were absolutely scorching. The way everything progressed made it hard to breathe.
This is a phenomenal for story in a very interesting and hot series. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance.
Unexceptional human/genie romance novel, but I wish the author had come up with a better excuse for the MC to put on the charmed necklace. She's warned repeatedly that putting on this necklace will change her life irrevocably and have unexpected side effects and she puts it on . . . because she has a crush on her co-worker and wants him to return her interest.

My Review: I wasn't quiet sure what to expect from this book or the series really as I am not familiar with Djinn legends and myths. It took me a little while to understand what was going on but as Mira did her research I got to learn along with her. I liked the dynamic between the characters and it was a pleasant change from the usual male dominated scenes I read so often to have the female a little more in charge. I thought the conclusion of this book was clever and it makes me want to continue reading the series to see where it leads and how things turn out for Mira and Tariq.
This review covers 1-3. The whole concept is great,; for all 3 books, very interesting story lines... BUT....
Too bad this writer Isn't developed. I saw the 'guardians' series had 4+ ratings ( I pretty much ignore anything rated less the 4 now) ASSUMING this series based in Djinn ( one if my fav paranormal subjects) and started reading it first. Thank god these are small books, neatly bigger then novelette size.
Writings not good, background information is nonexistent, nothing of details and the small amounts, just read bumpy. I'm assuming this is classified as erotica, unfortunately that still means 'any badly written trash still somehow gets read with decent reviews'. I hope they chance descriptions to racy romances, maybe then the ratings won't be so off. 1 star books, but I'm being generous, not anyone can write. Just because she can't pull it off now, I'm sure either serious hard work she can do much better. Her imagination for the idea is very good, just needs a lot of development on writing skills.
Plan on reading the guardian series next, if the 2nd book isn't a true 4+ ( and I am VERY generous with my ratings!!) I'll stop, only reason why I'm going to book number 2 is only the first book rated something around 3.8, the rest 4+.
I'm not going to bother reviewing book 2-3. Finishing 3 now and just not worth my time.
If you want a fun, sexy, romantic short book, this book is for you. The short length of this book is meant to be an introduction to the Firebrand series. If the series is anything like this book, then it's a series I will gladly turn to.
Considering the shortness of the story, it was packed with a lot of drama, conflict, and of course love scenes. The story was all around well written. This was the first book I've read in which the idea of a djinn was incorporated. It was something different for me which I enjoyed immensely. I liked the chemistry between Mira and Tariq. Their love scenes were great. I really liked that there was an actual plot and not just a typical pleasure-slave storyline.
This was just a fun, fantasy book to keep you preoccupied for a couple of hours. If you want a light read that let's you just sit back and relax, this book provides that distraction you're looking for. It's a nice introduction to a series which did it's job perfectly in peaking the interest.
The story line was very imaginative. The beginning was a bit slow. I know that the reader needs the history but, I felt the history went a little too long.
Mira's character was very clever. She knew what and who she wanted and was desperate to get on with her life. She soon figured out that she was looking at her life in quiet the wrong way.
Tariq's character is a demon who needs to be released but he has lost his confidence and his hope. Until he is summoned by Mira. Where he soon realizes this one time he can't go through with his mission.
Mira and Tariq son find what they both need, each other. Mira is willing to sacrifice her desire to not be alone any longer in order to release Tariq. But in turn Tariq can not let Zoraida have Mira's soul.
Can't wait to begin the second book in the series Slave to passion.
Mira is skeptical when she pursues an object that is supposed to grant her wishes, but she knows just what she's going to wish for - the confidence to go after the hot guy at work - even though she's warned that magic comes at a price. But when the luscious Djinn Tariq turns up asking for her command, her wishes become all about the sexy Djinn.
I finally finished this after putting it aside for a bit, not that it was bad, I just wasn't in the mood for as much smexy-ness as Bound to Seduction started out with. That said, there did end up being a more of a story in the background than it first appeared and this kindle freebie was a nice Nocturne caliber novella. There are two more in this series with ensorcelled Djinn brothers in the lead.
This novella is the first in a new series about three Djinn brothers trapped by a power hungry sorceress.
Bound to Seduction was a good read but as with any novella you need to suspend the belief that the development of any storyline will be minimal and you just have to accept the accelerated pace of all things.
Since the premise of the book was an enchanted pendant that fulfills the wearer’s wildest desire it at least sets the stage on why things move so fast for Tariq and Mira. I felt that Tariq’s character was more finely developed and although he didn’t understand his growing protectiveness toward Mira; you did feel his guilty in the choices he was forced to make.
Overall it was a quick read and let me interested enough to continue with the series.
I could not really get into of the story because it did Not have any character connection or build up. Mira rubs the fire opal, Tariq appears, "your wish, my command". And, even after she finds out that Tariq is a djinni, who is there "against his will", she is still on board with the seduction and lust that is mentioned frequently.
I would have been turned off if I found out he was being forced and there against his will. Mira is Stupid......... Tariq warns her about a curse and she gets angry with him: "so what if he wasn't attracted to her". Really? Mira is needy, clingy, desperate and very demanding: "Are you attracted to me?".
And, the character Zoraida, the villain. No one thinks of weapons, you know, like shooting her, taking an ax to her head, or something..
I love Elisabeth Naughton. When I discovered her (not to long ago) I devoured several book starting with "Wait for me" and eventually came up for air. I like this book a lot. Tariq (the leading man candy) is a hunk a hunk o'burnin love. Gorgeous, loyal and tortured-literally..you can't help but love him. Mira was a treat-soft and strong in all the right places. The story itself was good I just wished there was more of it. It seemed to be over to fast or perhaps that's just the indication of a good book-you never really want it to end. Was it my favorite of her books-no. Am I glad I read it-absofreakinlootley.
