Obra maestra de la literatura universal y uno de los momentos cumbre de la cultura italiana, La divina comedia es un poema épico en el que Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) plasmó, mediante la unión de poesía y erudición, un viaje por el infierno, el purgatorio y el paraíso bajo la guía del poeta romano Virgilio y su amada Beatriz. He aquí la versión manga de dicho viaje iniciático hacia la redención en el que confluyen todos los sentimientos propios del ser humano.

Dante Alighieri, or simply Dante (May 14/June 13 1265 – September 13/14, 1321), is one of the greatest poets in the Italian language; with the story-teller, Boccaccio, and the poet, Petrarch, he forms the classic trio of Italian authors. Dante Alighieri was born in the city-state Florence in 1265. He first saw the woman, or rather the child, who was to become the poetic love of his life when he was almost nine years old and she was some months younger. In fact, Beatrice married another man, Simone di' Bardi, and died when Dante was 25, so their relationship existed almost entirely in Dante's imagination, but she nonetheless plays an extremely important role in his poetry. Dante attributed all the heavenly virtues to her soul and imagined, in his masterpiece The Divine Comedy, that she was his guardian angel who alternately berated and encouraged him on his search for salvation.

Politics as well as love deeply influenced Dante's literary and emotional life. Renaissance Florence was a thriving, but not a peaceful city: different opposing factions continually struggled for dominance there. The Guelfs and the Ghibellines were the two major factions, and in fact that division was important in all of Italy and other countries as well. The Pope and the Holy Roman Emperor were political rivals for much of this time period, and in general the Guelfs were in favor of the Pope, while the Ghibellines supported Imperial power. By 1289 in the battle of Campaldino the Ghibellines largely disappeared from Florence. Peace, however, did not insue. Instead, the Guelf party divided between the Whites and the Blacks (Dante was a White Guelf). The Whites were more opposed to Papal power than the Blacks, and tended to favor the emperor, so in fact the preoccupations of the White Guelfs were much like those of the defeated Ghibellines. In this divisive atmosphere Dante rose to a position of leadership. in 1302, while he was in Rome on a diplomatic mission to the Pope, the Blacks in Florence seized power with the help of the French (and pro-Pope) Charles of Valois. The Blacks exiled Dante, confiscating his goods and condemning him to be burned if he should return to Florence.

Dante never returned to Florence. He wandered from city to city, depending on noble patrons there. Between 1302 and 1304 some attempts were made by the exiled Whites to retrieve their position in Florence, but none of these succeeded and Dante contented himself with hoping for the appearance of a new powerful Holy Roman Emperor who would unite the country and banish strife. Henry VII was elected Emperor in 1308, and indeed laid seige to Florence in 1312, but was defeated, and he died a year later, destroying Dante's hopes. Dante passed from court to court, writing passionate political and moral epistles and finishing his Divine Comedy, which contains the Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. He finally died in Ravenna in 1321.

La Divina Comedia es un poema donde destaca la dimensión visual. Tanto es así que han existido ilustraciones casi desde que Dante acabó de componer su obra en el 1320—desde miniaturas que representan eventos del viaje al más allá, hasta obras de Botticelli, William Blake, Gustave Doré, Salvador Dalí y Robert Rauschenberg.

Este volumen es un ejemplo curioso de la influencia de Dante sobre el manga japonés; es posible que existan otros ejemplos. Las ilustraciones son poco originales y tal vez un tanto vulgares, lo cual contrasta con la sofisticación del poema original. También pone en relieve el Infierno mientras el tratamiento del Purgatorio y, sobre todo, del Paraíso son una chapuza. En todo caso, una posible introducción al poema.

Bu kitap İlahi Komedya'nın tamamı olmasa da güzel bir kısaltma/uyarlama eser. Ancak Türkçe'ye çevrilirken malesef manga türünün gerektirdiği bazı özellikler tam anlamıyla çevrilememiş ve uyarlaması düzgün yapılamamış gibi duruyor. Bu durum da malesef kitabı okurken konuşmaların ve panellerin hareketinin bazen takibinde sorun yaratıyor ve bir karmaşaya sebep oluyor.

No sé qué decir, gente... Dado que me especializo en literatura italiana (por lo tanto, Dante es mi horizonte constante), me cuesta mucho ver estas versiones modernas. Por otro lado, las consumo como loca. Tal vez haya algo de masoquismo... Por lo pronto, este manga me sorprende por dos cosas: la actitud constantemente azorada de Dante y la capacidad de síntesis (especialmente del Paraíso). Me gustaron algunas cuestiones puntuales (Cómo resolvieron la duda de cómo pasó Dante el Aqueronte y la última viñeta, principalmente) y me quedé con el gusto raro de saber que para un dantista seguro es una herejía digna del canto X pero que la disfruté. He dicho.

Burada bir uyarlamadan İlahi Komedya eserine yorum yapamam söz meclisten dışarı. Bu yüzden bu yorumum diğerlerine nazaran biraz farklı olacak. Orijinal eseri de bu sene içinde okumayı umuyorum 🙂

Benim sorunum uyarlamanın kendisiyle. Manganın bir sanat formu olmasına ve aslında çok yaratıcı sanatçılara ev sahipliği yapmasına rağmen bu *manga* çok çok başarısız. Tekrar eden ve insanı görmekten bile sıkan, AI mı değil mi diye sorgulatan yüz stilleri mi dersin, okuyucuyu iliklerine kadar korkutması gereken cehennem tasvirlerinin es geçilmesi mi dersin ben bilemedim. Bu kitabı okumak yerine *İlahi Komedya tablolar* diye Google’dan aratın, daha çok etkileneceksiniz.

Bu eser ne yazık ki *çocuk kitabı* diyebileceğimiz bir seviyede yazılmış. Ancak İlahi Komedya gibi ağır bir eseri hangi çocuk öğrenmek ister, hangi anne/baba çocuğuna bu ağırlığı yaşatır bilmiyorum.

Uyarlama konusunda birkaç problemle karşılaşılmış gibiydi ve -bunun çizer/yazar kaynaklı olduğunu belirterek- hikayenin gidişatı asıl esere tam olarak uyum sağlamamış hissi verdi bana. Karışık duygular içindeyim. Ayrıca kitabın kendisini okurken daha korkunç şeyler hayal ettiğimi fark etmek beni şaşırttı, buradaki ifritler de şeytan da resmen yakışıklı gösterilmiş.

Una divertida lectura que he hecho en paralelo a la obra de Dante.

En el manga que se centra en su mayoría en el viaje de Dante al infierno hay representaciones muy descriptivas de algunos de los tormentos.
El personaje de Dante resulta muy entrañable por el miedo que comunica con las expresiones tipicas de las ilustraciones mangas.

Como acercamiento a la Divina comedia me parece extraordinario.

Es una pena que no haya sido mas fiel al orden de los cantos y que algunos saltos de los mismos resulten demasiado bruscos para el entendimiento total de la obra.

İlahi Komedya'ya detaylı bir bakış beklentisiyle okunursa hayal kırıklığına uğratabilir diye düşünüyorum. Zaten orijinal eser kadar kapsamlı bir şey ümit etmek hata olur, oldukça özet haline getirilmiş ve olaylar hızlıca gerçekleşmiş. Bazı resimlerin kalitesi iyi değildi ve bazıları sayfadan taşmış gibiydi, özellikle son sayfalara doğru bulanıklaştı ama onun dışında ben çok beğendim. Hoş vakit geçirmemi sağladı. Bir beklentiye girmeden okuyun derim.

“Mantık yoluyla düşünmeye çalışma” Vergilius kesinlikle haklıydı. O yüzden bu mangayı okurken İlahi Komedya’nın mangasıymış gibi okumaktan kaçındım. 192 sayfa ile anlatılması imkansız çünkü. Ve okumakta çok zorlandım. Mangaların okunuşu böyle değildir öncelikle sorun Yordam Kitap mı yoksa East Press kararı mı bilemem. Okurken çok kafam karıştı o yüzden ve bence bir bütünlük yoktu. Hani kitap okurken sayfa eksik gibi gelir ve arada sayfa var mı diye bakarız ya aynı o durumdaydım. Çizimleri beğenemedim. Beğenmek için tutanacak dal yoktu maalesef. Mangalığı sıkıntı içeriğı sıkıntı. :(

En esta versión manga del clásico de la literatura universal, en una sentada de lectura, nos podemos empapar de esta historia que acompaña al mundo desde que Dante Alighieri la escribiera en el S. XIV.

La trama de la obra form parte del acerbo popular: Muere Beatriz, joven de la que Dante está platónicamente enamorado y, en su dolor se pierde por los vicios del mundo. Ella, desde el Cielo, le envía a Virgilio (quien se encuentra en el limbo por no haber sido bautizado ya que vivió previo al tiempo de Jesucristo) para que lo conduzca por el más allá. El periplo que Dante efectuará por Infierno, Purgatorio y Paraíso, (en estos dis últimos acompañado por Beatriz), Dante conocerá los secretos de la ultra vida para compartir con la humanidad.

Esta versión gráfica deja poco lugar a la imaginación gracias a sus viñetas ilustradas con todos los escabrosos detalles tan de moda en la Edad Media.

Es un relato ligero que puede servir de introducción para los que todavía no se sientan preparados para afrontar la lectura de tan densa obra.

Klasikleri severim. Bütün klasikleri okumaya ömrümün yetmeyeceği düşüncesi beni korkutur. Çizgi roman da severim, mangayla çok ilgilenmemiş olsam da. Bu düşünceler sırasında elime geçen İlahi Komedya mangas�� mükemmel bir klasiğe hoş bir özet sağladı, beni Dante’nin, Beatrice’in, Vergilius’un evreninde dolaştırdı.

“Ölümden sonraki dünyayı bilirlerse insanların bilinci değişecektir.” Bana öyle geliyor ki, sevgili büyük Dante, ne peygamberler, ne ahlak öğretileri, ne filozoflar, bu kitabın yazıldığı yüzyıllardan beri bu aşağılık, bu ahlaksız, bu yalan dolu insanoğlunu yola sokamadı. Bundan sonra da olmayacak. Gene de, kitap için teşekkürler.

Es verdad que la historia queda bastante comprimida, pero es una forma simpática de acercar la literatura a las personas más jóvenes. Si les gusta, podrán leer en un futuro la obra de Dante, ¿no? Ese es el objetivo.
