AVP Retribution
An alien hunter vows to get revenge on the humans that killed his father. Taking his grandfathers ship and loading it with deadly alien larvae he brings the beasts to Earth.
After dropping the insect like aliens near a remote town the hunter prepares for the ultimate hunt to prove his worth in battle. With aliens on one side and predators on the other the town must fight to survive at all costs.
A satellite tracking facility reports to its bosses, the newly formed Weyland/Yutani corporation, an unusual object in space. Tracked to the small town of Maddison Heights Weyland/Yutani send their best agent with an army to try and capture the hunter and steal its technology.
The war begins.

The copy I read was an advance digital copy so take that into account while reading this review.
The story line was pretty much as you would expect from books of this caliber. Lots of action, lots of blood, not a lot of character development. There was a large glaring plot hole centering around simple mathematics. Only 4 facehuggers were sent to Earth, producing 3 drones and a queen. And yet before the queen had even matured there were at least 50 alien running around and not enough missing people to account for the aliens produced.
Much of the writing was somewhat sloppy with redundancies within sentences. This could be because this was an advance copy and not adequately proofread. A nitpicky item is that two of the main characters have the same first name and this can sometimes cause confusion.
The ending was somewhat predictable, a few people died that I half expected to make it but nothing terribly surprising.
A good read to pass some time but it was a free download so I had limited expectations.

A combination of the old Predator movies and Starship Troopers. A hunter [predator] comes to Earth seakiare picked off by the hunter. A human boy turns reenegade afterng revenge for the death of his father. He releases he releases large eigth legged killer insects around a town in the Pacific Northwest. Some people are dying and disappearing as the bugs start multiplying. The army sends in teams to solve the problem, but are soon picked off by the hunter. A human teenager turns traitor and joins a pack of hunters.
