More Than a Kiss

When a kiss...

All reporter Sadie Barton wants is to be taken seriously and judged on her own merits, not her stepfather’s money. She and her actress sister left Wisconsin to get out from under his controlling thumb and leave behind the malicious whispers that they’re no better than their gold-digging mother. But California isn’t all sun and fun, and paying the rent while trying to prove herself is harder than she ever imagined.

...is more than a kiss...

Something about Sadie drew self-made millionaire Zach Robinson—and it wasn’t just the amazing kiss they shared as impromptu actors in his company's commercial. He’s used to women being interested in his wealth, and Sadie’s fierce independence is an enticing breath of fresh air. He’s falling fast—until his brother suggests acting runs in her family and Sadie might not be exactly what she seems...

MY REVIEW POSTED HERE

For the past few weeks I have been going through a terrible reading funk. I tried to find a book that would capture my interest but nothing seemed to snap me out of my reading funk. Well nothing until I decided to mozzie over to my bookshelf and pickup my copy of More Than a Kiss by Stacey Joy Netzel. Within the first few chapters of this book I was sucked so far into the story that the world around me completely disappeared.

Sadie is running from under the thumb of her rich stepfather and her "gold-digging" mother. Sadie wants nothing more than to be independent and self made. Unfortunately the road to self made is paved with little money and lots of bills to be paid. When Sadie's sister Gemma falls ill Sadie has no choice but to fill in her sisters spot on a commercial set. Once on set Sadie is thrown into rich millionaire Zach Robinson's arms, and when the director calls action a passion ridden romance kicks off between these two characters that had me captivated; hook, line, and kiss, I mean sinker.

Stacey Joy Netzel has a gift for writing and creating characters with amazing chemistry. The passion between Zach and Sadie was natural and realistic. Sadie is sweet and caring but not overly perfect where you want to kill her. Zach is, I'm going to say it, Christian Grey if he wasn't all crazy and 50 shades of spanking girls. By this I mean Zach is a young, rich, businessmen man in charge but with a softer side. Did I forget to say handsome? Oh yes, handsome he is! The push pull chemistry between these characters had me barreling through this book to find out the ending.

The amount of conflict between Zach and Sadie literally made this book impossible to put down. I had to know if they were going to make it. I had to know if they were going to be together. I had to know if they would meet again! I finished the book in less than two days, because I just had to know. Not that I will tell you how any of these situations ended but you must find out for yourself!

I definitely recommend this book to adult readers. More Than a Kiss is a hidden treasure, an undiscovered jewel in a pile of books. When I realized More than a Kiss had only six reviews I was shocked. This book is too awesome of a read to not be read by millions of people. You should definitely check it out. I am holding out hopes Stacey writes a sequel with Gemma and Matt.

I have found a new author to love. A few weeks ago my buddy Danielle over at Book Whore Book Blog was talking about how much she loved Lost in Italy by Stacey Joy Netzel in her review and since she and I have very similar tastes in books, I went looking for Lost in Italy for my Nook. Alas, at the time it was not available on Barnes and Noble but I found another book that was mentioned in a follow up interview with Stacey Joy Netzel on Danielle's blog. It was More Than A Kiss. Even though it wasn't a romantic suspense novel, the summary did peak my interest.

Score another point for Danielle and about 100 for author Stacey Joy Netzel because this book is a keeper. This is my first real experience with an indie author's work and I didn't know what to expect.

I love being pleasantly surprised with books. More Than a Kiss is an entertaining, steamy, at times funny story about two people who come from two different backgrounds, Zach is rich and Sadie isn't. What I loved was that Sadie had flaws. She didn't realize that while she was adamant about not dating Zach because of his money that she was in essence judging him because he did have money just like wealthy people judged her for not having money.

Both Sadie and Zach have flaws, and I love that in books because it makes them more believable and real. No one's perfect in real life and they shouldn't be in fiction either. Perfection is boring and thank goodness Stacey Joy Netzel didn't create perfect characters.

There's also a secondary love story going on along with Zach and Sadie that while interesting, doesn't take away from the main focus of the story. The dialogue is witty, thoughtful and at times funny.

There's just the right amount of angst in this book to make the ending all the more sweet. After they throw out all their respective emotional baggage, Zach and Sadie realize they're great together. The chemistry and passion between the two is steamy, and it's set at the right pace to allow for personal and emotional growth between the two and makes the relationship more believable.

I can't wait to get my hands on more of Stacey Joy Netzel's books and I just found out Lost in Italy is now available for Nook. Guess what's going on my wishlist?

This poor book had a lot of things going for it, it just didn't happen at a good moment in my life. (Namely: at a moment where all my waking days are consumed by a Broadway hip-hop show about a founding father.) So I never really got into it, despite the fun beginning (kissing for work!!!), the cool characters, the tropes I like, etc. SORRY BOOK, you deserved better. (Also, the book is much better than what the cover would imply.)

I picked up this book several times, but every time I started reading it something would pull me away. It's taken me months to dig into this one, but I'm glad I was persistent.

This is the first book I've read by Stacey Joy Netzel, but I doubt it will be my last. I enjoyed all the characters, even the more minor ones. They were all well developed with their own backstory, which helped to support both the hero and the heroine's personalities.

Sophie and Zach were quite a pair. On the outside they looked like polar opposites, but they ended up being more alike than either of them realized. I love the set up for this story. It pulled me in right from the first couple of chapters. These two were both very likable, even when he was teasing her with a nickname she wasn't all that fond of.

If you're looking for a fun beach read, I would definitely recommend More Than A Kiss.

I enjoyed this story.

Sadie and her sister, Gemma, moved to California from Wisconsin to make it on their own. Their mother had married a wealthy older man when the girls were young and the stigma of her being a gold-digger spread to her daughters as well, making their lives a bit difficult with their peers. Their stepdad used his money to control the girls by getting them to do the things and make the decisions he wants.

Zach is a very wealthy entrepreneur with a Netflix-type company. When Zach loses a bet with a director friend of his, he has to be in a commercial for his own company that his friend is directing. Zach has lived as behind-the-scenes as he can for a man in his position. To say Sadie and Emma are broke would be an understatement. When Gemma gets sick, Sadie steps in for her as an extra in a commercial because the sisters really need the money.

Fireworks fly off Sadie and Zach almost instantly on the commercial set. The next day, a fellow journalist is stuck in traffic, so their editor send Sadie to conduct the interview for the small paper. What Sadie didn't know was that her interviewee was the same guy from the commercial.

Their chemistry sparks off the pages! Sadie is worried what people will think about her if she started dating Zach since he was more than rich and she was less than broke. As Sadie struggles with their vast financial differences, Zach tries everything he can to convince her that she doesn't need to worry about what others think of their relationship as long as they both know the truth.

I really liked Sadie and Zach. Sadie was fiercely independent and determined to do whatever she could to ensure she wouldn't have to call her mom and stepdad for financial assistance. Zach is very lovable with his rags to riches story and generous being. Not to mention, he's gorgeous to boot... OBVIOUSLY!

The story flowed well and kept my interest so much I couldn't put it down. It was a quick, sweet, happily-ever-after story.

3.5*

My first book by this author. I enjoyed it thoroughly!

The meet cute was funny, sweet and hot. Our couple sure had chemistry! But a few angry lines from Zach, overheard by Sadie, taken out of context and misunderstood, sent Sadie running. Both Sadie and Zach had emotional baggage about gold diggers so this was a sore point for both.

I could totally understand why poor Sadie was so sensitive to the money issue, and this coloured her childhood into adulthood. It cannot be easy living with the nasty gossips people spread, giving you an undeserved reputation. Worse was even adults like teachers took part in the gossips about her mother! It would have helped if the stepfather was a loving man, but unfortunately he was a controlling rich guy who's image conscious. But at times Sadie overreacted which was frustrating... She never seemed to give Zach a break. It didn't help matters that the jilted Matt was around to stir things and might even be messing around with Gemma to get back at Sadie!

Zach was a likeable hero. His doubts about Sadie were a direct result of his only brother being cheated not once but twice by gold diggers... He would be a fool not to be more cautious!

When he made mistakes, he manned up and owned up to himself and Sadie, which was admirable. Sadie did too, like apologising when she knew she was wrong.

Very enjoyable short book!

More Than A Kiss is a fun contemporary romance by Stacey Joy Netzel. Ms. Netzel has delivered a well-written book loaded with a fantastic group of characters. Sadie takes her sick sister's place at the filming of a commercial where she has to kiss a stranger. Back in her journalist position she's pulled off an assignment on orphaned ducks at the last minute and sent to interview millionaire Zach Robinson. Zach lost a bet with his friend and the payment is to appear in his own commercial where he ends up kissing a stranger. Imagine his surprise when the same stranger shows up to interview him. Zach and Sadie's story is loaded with drama, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed this book cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Stacey Joy Netzel. More Than A Kiss is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Sometimes it seems that sweet, straight contemporary romance novels are a dying genre and it always make me happy when I am proved wrong. If the characters are from different social statuses then the book is on my “to read list” automatically. More Than a Kiss falls in both categories and I am very glad that I had a chance to read it.

This is a lovely, sweet romance with great characters. The main characters are Zach and Sadie. Zach is a self-made millionaire, while Sadie is the stepdaughter of a very rich man. She and her sister decide to make it by themselves, so basically that means she is poor. Zach is good looking, funny, and the man with the ideas and determination to see them through. He is super rich but he is such a down to earth person, he really knows how to enjoy life. Sadie is cute, funny and also very determined to succeed, but not at all costs.

The attraction between them is instant and they are really great together even if, at first, they are not able to realize that. One of the major obstacles for their relationship is that that Zach was under his brother's influence, colored by having had a bad experience with his deceiving ex-fiancée. Sadie, on the other hand had so much emotional baggage. The main conflict being that she did not want to be labeled as a gold digger. All of this could be solved easily, but unfortunately things got very complicated and lots of prejudice came between them. Therefore Zach and Sadie were challenged with so many hindrances on their way to happiness that in the end, I was wondering if they would even have their HEA. The bottom line was that because of their previous experiences, they did not trust each other easily. But, since love conquers all, they managed to overcome all obstacles and fall even deeper in love.

Although it has already been said, More Than a Kiss is a really sweet contemporary romance with a satisfying plot that put a smile on my face more than once while I was reading.

They, whomever they are, say that the biggest source of trouble in a relationship is money. If Sadie and Zach are any indication, they are correct.

Sadie and Zach meet when each is undercover. She is filling in on a commercial shoot for her aspiring actress younger sister, while he is disguised as a zombie, a sort of payback for losing a bet. Zach instantly is attracted to Sadie, but all she sees is a zombie. But before you can say, “Action!”, the two are cast in different roles – ones that make them kiss.

But Sadie, who makes things as difficult for herself as she can, misinterprets a conversation she overhears and bolts before Zach can ask her out. This being a romance novel, though, our lovers are not apart for long. When they reconnect, each learns the truth – or part of it, anyway – about the other, and their mutual attraction continues to build. Their relationship faces a series of obstacles (most caused by Sadie), and they have to work to be together.

This is a pleasant, although not entirely remarkable or memorable, little read. Nothing dramatic or overwrought occurs, and Zach and Sadie are a likable, if even a bit admirable, couple. As we get to know Zach, we see the significance of what he has achieved. In Sadie’s case, we offer respect for the choices she has made, even if she is one hardheaded girl.

In terms of romance, it abounds as far as feelings are concerned. As far as sexy times, well, you have to content yourself with one sex scene. It’s hot, but not steaming or explicit. By the time it happens, we’re ready for it. Stacey Joy Netzel does not disappoint, unless you’re looking for something more than mildly R rated.

Sadie and Gemma are sisters living in CA. Sadie is trying to be a journalist and Gemma an actress. They are barely making it financially. Gemma has a small part and gets too sick to keep it. It's a non-speaking role so Sadie agrees to go in her place. She meets Zach who is there and will be in the film. Parts get rearranged and she ends up in Zach's lap kissing him. It required little acting to pretend she was lost in his kiss. Zach is rich and Sadie does not like rich men. Experience with her step dad taught her their money comes with the price of the rich always getting their way. It's why she and Gemma went out on their own. So Sadie fights her attraction to Zach. Zach's brother Matt just broke up with his fiancee when he found out she was a golddigger. Matt does not trust Sadie. Yet he starts dating Gemma. What is going on? Sadie gets fired from her job because she wouldn't agree to turn in an article on Zach to the publication she was working for. They publish a sensational article anyway and use her name as the author. Maybe Zach and Sadie are just not meant to be. How can their attraction overcome all their obstacles?

I purchased this as part of the "Loving the CEO" box set and so far it's been the best one. Sadie, Zach, and even side character Matt are all jaded and decently well developed characters in need of some honesty. Due to the rumor surrounding her attractive younger mother and her rich husband 30 years her senior, Sadie is basically anti-rich guy. Since Zach is a well off CEO of his own company (that's basically Netflix), he's off limits to Sadie. This doesn't stop her from falling for him, though.

I thought the meet cute was pretty adorable. I really liked the idea of Sadie pretending to be Gemma in order to play her role on a TV commercial since her sister was sick. It was reminiscent of the start to 50 Shades, just a cute story instead of a dirty one.

Overall, this book is highly predictable and easy to read. The main conflict could be seen from miles away, but it was still a fun and comfortable read, which is something that I need every now and then. =)

Good book, a little cheesy at times but overall, a good one.
Zach is the owner and CEO of movie mail, but a bet with a friend lands him starring in his own commercial where he meets Sadie who is filling in for her sister. On screen kisses light a fire into both of them but Sadie takes off. The following day sparks a new surprise when Sadie has to interview the owner of MovieMail.,.to both of their shock, they are once again face to face, but when Sadie refuses to write an article over the material Zach asked her not to use, she finds herself fired. Zach gives her an exclusive inrerview that allows the two of them to get to know each other ajd their chemistry grows. Sadie is reluctant because of his money.

A truly beautiful story about trusting others and yourself. Sadie and Zach's journey of learning to love and trust others is a lesson everyone can learn from. I loved how neither character was weak but also not strong enough to resist each other. The constant turmoil kept me wondering if there really was going to be a HEA for their story. Needless to say I was just as satisfied at the end as I was when I first started.

Loved it! Lots of yummy chemistry between Zach and Sadie. Sadie has huge issues with being judged by other people. She will do just about anything to avoid being labeled as a gold-digger. So what does Sadie do? She pushes away a great guy like Zach just because he is rich! Sadie informs Zach that she has a job and does not need or want his money! I laughed so hard when he told her, "That's good because I have decided not to give you any!" Great story!

Sada takes her sisters place in a commercial because she is sick. While there she meets Zachary but thinks he is just another actor. Little does she know that the next day she is sent to interview the CEO of a million dollar company who never gives interviews. As she steps into the offices, she discovers that it is Zach.

Loved Sadie and Zach' story. I loved that the drama was realistic and not so heart wrenching that it broke my heart. This is my first Netzel book, but won't be my last. I hope there is another book to go with this that has Matt and Gemma's story!

this was a cute quick read. Confusing at times. Sadie and Matts hate seems forced. The quickness of sadie and Zach's relationship is too fast. A slowed down longer book would work for this story

Totally unbelievable but quite sweet and neither the hero or the heroine made me think they should have been drowned at birth. So that's a plus.
