Jewelry maker Sasha Taylor is from an old and aristocratic line of mages and expected to mate with a mage of the same background to secure a continuing pure line of little magic children. She would probably have complied with the old mage tradition had she not had one tiny problem with the plan. She had the mark of the vampire that she had hidden for years and was slotted to be a mate to one of the savage species of blood drinkers. Mage and vampires did not mix…so she kept the secret to herself and avoided a mating until she meets her mate, Nathan Hale…a vampire that saves her life. Nathan squashes every myth she has ever heard about vampires and she soon finds herself drawn to the very vampire she had fought so hard to avoid.
Nathan Hale never planned on finding his mate. At the age of 600 years, he had thought his time for finding his mate had passed him by. He’s shocked when he rescues Sasha only to find out that she is his chosen mate. Sasha insists that she can’t mate with a vampire, but Nathan knows that she can and she will. Fate chose her for him and he wasn’t about to let her go.

J.S. Scott is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary and paranormal romance. She's an avid reader of all types of books and literature. Writing what she loves to read, J.S. Scott writes both contemporary erotic romance stories and paranormal romance erotics. They almost always feature an Alpha Male and have a happily ever after because she just can't seem to write them any other way! She lives in the beautiful Rocky Mountains with her husband and two very spoiled German Shepherds.
Love love this series. I've had to read them all in quick succession as they are so gripping. I love the Hale brothers. These really or a sexy read with a lovely plot ans even more lovely characters. I pleaseure to read.
Nathan is over six hundred years old, and is the oldest of the Hale brothers. Now that Ethan and Rory have found their mates, Nathan's sense of loneliness is intense. This one seems shorter than the previous two and once again Scott is failing to fully use certain plot points to their full potential. This book has a great plot, but there were many grammatical and spelling errors in the book. Other than that I wish that the author would have taken the story to greater heights by adding to the story line. Nathan is a Vampire & Sasha is a Mage and they do not mix, but Sasha is born with the vampire mark and when Nathan saves her , sparks fly between them.
3.5 stars. This third installment was not as good as the others so far for pretty much one reason: the plot just didn't reach its full potential. It had the potential to be the best one yet, and the author didn't develop the story enough. There was a lot of details left out, and things that could have been expanded on. I think the majority of this story was sex, sex, sex! I would have preferred a little more plot to go with all that heat. This wasn't a bad story; it just didn't fulfill the potential that the author gave it. The new characters and mages could have been so much more than what they ended up being.
Nathan is over six hundred years old, and is the oldest of the Hale brothers. Now that Ethan and Rory have found their mates, Nathan's sense of loneliness is intense. But he hides it well. He's an elder, and at the helm of the vampire coalition. Fighting the "fallen". Vampires who have succumbed to bloodlust. That's where his future lies, he has decided to put all thoughts of finding his mate from his mind.
While out patrolling he comes across two fallen attacking a young women. Killing both of them he picks up the woman and immediately realises she's a "Mage" not immortal like him, but not human either. So there's no way he can taker her to a hospital. Returning with her to his home he calls his brother Liam, who is a vampire healer. After removing her clothing, Nathan sees she's has his mark on her. This woman is his mate.
This is another great addition to the series. With a slight difference, this time instead of a human woman, Sasha is a Mage a race that uses magic. As usual we have a sexy domineering vampire, with hot and heavy sex scenes. ARC provided by the author
GOOD NOT GREAT!!, September 9, 2013 By Edwina "I Love books" "Edwina "I ... (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: NATHAN'S MATE (Book Three: The Vampire Coalition) (Kindle Edition) NATHAN'S MATE was not as good as the first two books in the series. Sasha is a Mage and holds the other half of Nathan's soul. She is his soul mate. Mage are forbidden to have anything to do with Vampires least of all mate and marry a Vampire. Sasha's parents are aristocratic Mage so they are really against the mating. So goes the the story line. Sasha says I can't Mate you and Nathan says we will Mate my love.
The story is very short and the price is to high for 37 pages. I got the box set which is the best deal. I wanted more of a story for Nathan as he is head of the Vampire Coalition and the eldest of his two brothers who were mated in the first 2 books. I just wanted more!!!
This series is really the first stories I have read about vampires. I am impressed. If all of the are like this, the vampires being good and all that, these won't be the last.
Nathan's is strong and a bit self righteous, especially after the way his brothers acted when just finding their mate. It was good to watch him stumble around as well.
I recommend this story and series NOTE: This story stands on it's own, however is greatly enhanced when series is read in order.
I love this series Nathan is the eldest of the vampire brothers he meets Sasha who is a mage and they hate vampires. Sasha was being attacked by three of the fallen vampires when Nathan is out on patrol he gets to her before they killed her after he killed them he takes her to his house as she is laying on his bed he discovers that she is his mate. This is the shortest of the story and it was a quick read. Sasha is not sure she can mate with a vampire her sister who is a healer like his brother Liam also has a secret. Sasha's parents kidnapped and beat her and were about to force her to mate with a Mage before Nathan and his brother found her. They had a quick mating ceremony which was not as hot as the other's. I look forward to read the rest of this series and find out what's going on between Liam and Regan Sasha's sister.
The oldest of the Hale brothers. He has been having dreams about his mate. She has been dreaming of him too. She is trying to deny it. She is a mage and for some reason the mage and vampires have been told they don't get along and hate each other. One night as he is walking around searching for fallen. He comes across the fallen attacking a woman. He jumps in and kills the fallen then takes her home to try to heal her. Once he has her in his arms he realizes she is his mate. Her sister comes to the house as Liam and Nathan are trying to heal her. Between Liam and the sister they heal her. She struggles with not wanting to call to him as they are supposed to be mortal enemies. Her family ends up disowning her.
The second book in the series was just as hot as the first. I loved it! I can’t wait to read more. I wish there would’ve been a clue about Nathan’s mate in the Epilogue like there was with Rory in the first book. Ahh well, I’ll just have to read it now won’t I? A Steamy Short Story About An Obsessive Alpha Vampire And His Mate. Comes With A Small Dose Of Danger And A Sense Of Family.
This is book three in The Vampire Coalition series. Each of the five books in the series is a short story, roughly forty to eighty pages long. These erotic quick reads pair paranormal and steamy scenes into a series of interconnected stories. It is best when these are read in order. There is a twenty-two page prelude to the series, The Rough Mating of a Vampire. That is Adare Connor and Kristin Sparks’ story and it introduces the mating ceremony. It is not necessary to have read that first, though Adare and Kristen are sometimes mentioned in this series and participate in some events.
In this world, vampires lack souls. They are born male, and the only way to attain their soul is to find their human-born soul-bonded mate. The human is born with a genetic mutation to allow for the mating. The female guards her mate’s soul, carrying both her own and her mate’s. During a mating ceremony, in which their identifying marks touch, the female transfers her mate’s soul. Until recently, no vampire had been bonded to his mate past the age of one hundred fifty. The urge to mate dissipates following a vampire’s one hundredth year. The female only survives until age thirty. If she has not found and bonded with her mate, she will die along with the soul of her intended mate.
Vampires live a lonely life unless they find their soul-bonded mate. Their lives include stealth and magic. They feed on blood, but their victims’ memories are wiped of the feeding, as humans are not yet ready to accept the existence of vampires. Vampire code dictates that vampires are not to kill at will, only to take blood as needed. The fallen are those vampires that have succumbed to feeding frenzies. Once that has happened, there is no going back. They must be destroyed for breaking the code.
Healers are a subspecies of vampire. Their work is demanding and drains their energy. They hate taking blood and typically postpone feeding as long as possible, but they need it to keep up their energy. Vampires eat human food as well, but that is mostly for entertainment – or in the case of a healer, avoidance. It takes a little more work for a healer to find his mate, but what is meant to be will be. Healers always have the option of refusing a mate if they find the idea bothersome. They aren’t called by their mates or ruled by the same immediate obsessive tendencies of regular vampires. For them, the need develops only after an intimate act takes place between the mates.
Books one through four are about the Hale brothers – Nathan, Ethan, Rory, and Liam. They are a couple centuries older than Adare Connor had been when he mated with Kristin Sparks. They are resigned to the existence of those vampires who fail to find their mates. Though lonely, the desire to be with a woman intimately leaves after just one century, so they devote themselves to hunting down the fallen of their kind. Their parents had fallen victim to the fallen, so it is personal to them. The Hale brothers live in the Denver area. Book five is about Daric, a vampire prince.
IN NATHAN’S MATE, BOOK THREE:
Sasha Taylor, twenty-eight, is a jewelry designer and runs a successful business along with her sister. Regan has the delicate job of crafting Sasha’s designs into reality. Sasha happens to be a mage. She comes from a family of mages, and no mage wants to be mated to a barbaric vampire. She recognized the mark that appeared when she turned eighteen, indicating her status as a vampire’s soul-mate. She kept the knowledge to herself, too afraid of what her family might think of her. But ten years later her dreams are more vivid and she hears her mate calling to her through their psychic connection.
Nathan, the oldest Hale brother, is over six hundred years old and knows the chance of him finding his mate has passed. And with Ethan and Rory’s careless mistakes of late, he is glad of it. He worries one of them might yet make a fatal mistake, so he gladly patrols the streets of Denver alone. He had devoted his existence to wiping out the fallen, who were responsible for his parents’ death. One night he comes across some fallen as they viciously attack a mage. When he realizes that the mage wears his mark, everything is turned upside down – and he isn’t sure he is happy about the change.
This steamy short story about obsessive an alpha vampire and his mate has a small dose of danger and a sense of family. The story is nicely written and plot-driven. It is written in third person. The POV alternates between the vampire and his mate. I rate this book four stars.
This series is a fun little 30 minute read for when you're sitting in the doctor waiting room for 30 minutes even though you were on time for your appointment.
These brother vampires are a little different from what cannon vampires are - all vampires are born male with no soul, and the only way they can get their soul and become whole is when they find their human mate who was born "safely" holding their vampire mate soul. However, if vampire and human don't meet before she dies, the vampire will be forever alone. Of course, there are evil vampires, the Fallen, who make it their job to try and kill those who are unmated to keep the vampires alone and miserable.
Sasha and her sister Regan are mages - magic folk - who believe that vampires are filthy, dangerous, evil creatures who should be feared because they live off of blood. However, Sasha knows that her mate is a vampire - the mark of the dragon appeared on her hip the day she turned 18 and now she's been dreaming - very sexy and hot and wet dreams - of a man she hasn't seen, but knows by voice only. After being saved by Nathan from near death, she has to face that the vampires she was told about isn't all true and that while mages can't mate with vampires, her newly found mate claims otherwise.
However, a deeper unknown threat lurks in the background, one that will do whatever needs to be done to keep vampire and mage from mating and being together. Will Nathan and his brothers be able to cancel the threat before the danger takes away his one true mate?
I think Ms. Scott's story could have easily been written into a longer novel with more details and more time for the characters to discover each other (given it's a short story and one with vampires, the relationship moves a little quicker than one would probably think would happen, even in a fantasy story). But as it is, it's an interesting yet sweet quick read and I highly recommend it.
This is the third book in this series. They are better read in order as they are connected. Nate’s story is quite interesting. He is a vampire but his mate isn’t a human. They have been dreaming of each other for quite some time. He can see who she is but she can’t see his face. Nathan is the oldest of his brothers at 600 years old. He finds his mate by accident. Sasha has always known she would mate a vampire. She is a mage and they only mate with their kind. When Nathan rescues her and discovers she is his mate things get complicated. Nathan goes into the mating instinct. However, Sasha has always been told about how horrible the vampires are. Will Nathan be able to prove to her that they belong together and that not all vampire are like she has been told. Then there is the trouble that will happen if the Mages find out she is to be mated with a vampire. This story was a fantastic read. A little more trouble and angst in this one than the others. Sasha’s sister is also introduced in this book. This series gets better with each book. Great job J.S. Scott.
Nathan is the oldest of the Hale brothers. At over 400 years old he thought his chance at finding his mate was gone. So he’s an elder in the Vampire coalition who track down and kill fallen vampires. The fallen are vampires that have turned rogue and kill humans indiscriminately. Sasha makes jewelry for a living, but she is a mage, from a distinguished family of mages. While she is attacked by some fallen vamps one night, Nathan is the one that comes to her rescue. He realizes that she is his mate and there’s no way he is letting her go.
This was another quick, interesting read in this series. You can read it in about an hour.
Nathan's Mate (The Vampire Coalition #3) was a great read by J.S. Scott. Sasha is a jewelry maker who is supposed to be mated to a mage. The only thing is that she has been having dreams that she is actually mated to a vampire. She also has the mark of the vampire. She has always kept this fact a secret since mage and vampires do no mix. She meets her mate, Nathan, who saves her life when she is attacked by fallen vampires. I loved reading Sasha and Nathan's story and can't wait to read more by J.S. Scott.
