A great work of adaptation of the Arthurian mythos, with emphasis on events set in Britanny, such as Broceliande forest. The author succeeds in rendering the characters in very human, relatable terms. A very enjoyable read in the original French, all 231 pages of it. My copy is a 10th edition printing, produced on June 20th, 1965 by l'Edition d'Art H. Piazza. Cover art by the author.
Although not indicated on the cover, this book was meant as only the first tome of a series. The story begins with Merlin's origin and stops at Merlin's entrapment by his beloved Viviane in Broceliande forest.
