Short stories are a perfect way to get your lit fix even if you are "too busy" to read a book! Or enjoy yourself and read more! Small bites or a feast, this book is delicious.

Chesapeake Crimes series is an anthology published by Wildside Press. The anthology was edited by Donna Andrews, Barb Goffman and Marcia Talley. The theme for this anthology is the world of work, where twists and turns bring satisfaction. As always the setting for the stories is centered on the Chesapeake Bay region. Contributors to his edition include Shari Randall, C. Ellett Logan, Karen Cantwell, E. B. Davis, Jill Breslau, David Autry, Harriette Sackler, Barb Goffman, Ellen Herbert, Smita Harish Jain, Leone Ciporin, Cathy Wiley, Donna Andrews, and Art Taylor. The foreword is by
Elaine Viets.

There is a little something for each reader. Many of the contributors are award winning authors. Varying in length and style, each tale provides a good reading experience. The works are not reprints. Why 3 stars? Short stories tend to have a very short shelf life. Some included in this volume have become dated.
However, quick reads are always good things. This volume worked for me.

A nice collection of short stories from the Chesapeake Bay Sisters in Crime. It runs the gamut - hardboiled, softboiled, cozy. This one is all job-based - bad bosses and coworkers face the music. Sometimes it's nice to dip in and out of short story collections when you don't have time to sit for a long period.

I don’t often read short stories, but maybe I have been making a mistake. This compendium of short stories written by the Chesapeake Chapter of the Sisters in Crime is terrific. I found it was nice to be able to read a story or two while I was waiting in line at the bank or between loads of clothes. Since, I’m always looking for new authors to read, this was an excellent way to sample a variety of new authors. There are 14 stories in total.

I was a First Read Winner of this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a wonderful collection of short stories that do not disappoint. Each highly entertaining and not easily forgotten, and each story can easily be read in one sitting. If you ever had a bad day at work, or just dreamed about maybe getting even, then this is a good book to read.

I'm not sure why I re-read this book. I gave it two stars the first go round which means I didn't like it. Didn't like it any better this time, either. There are a few good stories but the rest are poorly written or had outright ridiculous plots.
