While you sleep, a war rages on. Spanning over two millennia and involving historical figures spread across several continents and cultures, a battle to control the world's most rich and powerful surges forward. Brian, a high-school student nearing his graduation, decides to skip school with some classmates, only to find himself running for his life. Soon, he finds himself thrust into a world in which the rich are manipulated through their dreams; politicians are constantly monitored by Psychic Spies, and the line between the dream world and the afterlife becomes indistinguishable.
Since noone has reviewed this yet...here we goes. (sorry but english is my second language)
So I've been super excited about this book since I happened to see trailer for it on youtubes last month which I found a little haunting.
So, the first few pages, I wa a little confused but until realized it was just some surreal dream. A few other chapters start out like this, but after reading the first chapter I got what was going on.
If you've read 1Q84, setup is like that because the chapters alternate between characters. But, every three or so chapters is a different historical person, like chapter three is Plato and there one with sitting bull and lincoln. At first I was unclear about their relationship to story in it but there are like hints along the way about what they have to do with the conspiracy that's going on.
It seems very layered, like I'm going to have to go back and read it again to get it all. I'm three fourths of the way through and I'm already wanting to have the second book because I can tell it's going to be an epic trilogy I bet.
I don't want to spoil to much and I've don't really review stuff like this, but I hope people get a chance to check this out because I think its epic so far.
I read the kindle version of this book. There were a lot of typing errors as far as forms of words, grammar, past/present tense and even character names being spelled differently (or in one case what I am assuming was a first draft name of a character) than before. Though the print copy of this may have seen these errors be fixed, I don't know.
The plot and the story itself was quite enjoyable. I mean, I read it in a few hours today so I can't imagine that if it had been a bad story that I would have read it so quickly.
The author is no Ray Bradbury but very interesting concept. It was a quick read, like three days, but I'm going to start reading it again tonight I think. Would defiantly recommend to others.
