An illustrated celebration of the great cat looks at thirty-seven species of cat, including tigers, leopards, jaguars, snow leopards, and bobcats, and discusses their biology, breeding habits, and main threats to survival
I liked the scientific bent in this reference book on wild cats, with emphasis on big cats. The special box articles within the chapters were especially interesting as they discussed ecological and evolutionary topics related to felids that one would not expect to see in a non-academic picture book like this. Also contains excellent hand drawn color illustrations of many species. Would be interesting to see an updated version since this book came out more than twenty years ago.
A very good reference book produced on the subject of wild cats. Plenty of photos and illustrations yet informative articles. A must for cat aficionados. I kept a copy in my personal library for years until I moved and decided to minimize my collection.
