Here, Ursula Buchan shares with the reader her own experiences and her dislike of herb gardens and timid planting, her battles with plastic netting and problems with doing the church flowers. As well as a gold-mine of practical information, "Good in a Bed" is an intriguing picture of the development of gardening during the 1980s and 1990s.
1/3/26 My review pertains to the 2001 hardcover edition. I own six books authored or edited by Ursula Buchan. Her writing style holds my attention. Finished reading this title today and thoroughly enjoyed it. In one article, Ursula Buchan creates a fictitious situation where readers write in to her newspaper column. The questions and responses are subtly humorous. The variety of topics in the book lend themselves to leaving a smile on the reader's face after each one.
yes, enjoyed it - because these articles are written for a newspaper the format gets a bit tedious, but Buchan is very witty and certainly knows her gardening, although a little Torygraph for me, and obviously a hunt supporter,
