When Grace Daniels goes to the cemetery to visit the grave of her twin brother, she meets a soldier, there for the same reason, or at least that’s what she believes until he tells her about the blind date her brother arranged before he was killed in combat.
It’s the date of her dreams. Big band, brass and sass, Madame Eve from 1NightStand has set her up for an unforgettable night, a WWII swing dance party. Unfortunately, she’s having trouble letting go of her past and is afraid to take the chance given to her.
Sergeant Frank Winters is an Army trumpet player who travels with the Color Guard, a great dancer, and six feet four inches of eye candy that could make her an addict. He’s also a soldier and soldiers can get killed. Grace doesn’t have the heart to lose someone again, but Frank knows a good thing when he sees it, and he’s determined to show her in one night, she’s got more to lose if she walks away.

It may only be 36 pages long, but My Boogie Woogie Bugle Guy packs the wallop of a full-length novel...and then some!
Grace Daniels is still heavily grieving over the loss of her twin brother, George, on the one year anniversary of the Special Forces Soldier's death. It's clear she never expected to find love while at the cemetery!
Frank Winters is an old Army buddy of Grace's brother, but he's not your average hot-shot soldier. Frank's in the Army Band. He's at the cemetery not only to grieve for his fallen friend, but to try to find George's unknown sister; a woman he'd been set up with before tragedy struck.
What a fantastic, short tale! The writing is phenomenal, the love scenes smoking hot, and the connection between the two characters was instant and natural. I loved the unique twist of making Frank a member of the military, but in a somewhat unexpected role. George has managed to fix up this wonderful couple from beyond the grave, and it was nothing but pure pleasure to read about their supposed one night stand that you knew had to become more!
I love the concept of the 1Night Stand series, and although I find myself wishing there was more, these stories provide quick, satisfying reads. In a few precious pages the characters are established, developed, and a relationship is born. If you have limited time and want something hot to read - this would be an awesome option!
Grace Daniels loses her twin brother to combat in the Army. Unbeknownst to her before his death he set her up on a blind date with a friend. Someone perfectly suited for her, and an unsung hero in the military. Can she let her guard down to be with this man after losing her brother? My Boogie Woogie Bugle Guy is a sexy heartfelt addition to the 1NS series by DL Jackson & Decadent Publishing.
I really like the way the two of them met as it was really appropriate, given their circumstances. Grace lost her brother while Frank lost his friend. Because of her brother, Frank had to find Grace to fulfill his part of her brother's wish. Will Grace go with the one night stand that her brother had arranged for her, knowing that he might not be able to return from his deployment?
As I've mentioned, I like the idea of two people having to meet up because something happened. In this case, it was the death of Grace's brother and his letter and arrangement with Madame Eve. I was a little surprised that Grace had to meet Frank at the cemetery while he was drunk. Seriously? I was a little worried about what would happen next because of his silliness. Luckily, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the entire story and its humor portion. However, I do feel the ending was a little rushed and I was hoping for a little gossip from Grace's neighbor. That would be fun!
I have enjoyed reading this book and I feel that it is a great read for those military lovers!
Disclosure: I received a review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book started off good for me. Grace seems cute just from her POV. I think her choice assumption that Frank knew her brother and hay I'll bring him to my house even though I'm a cop was a bit strange. But I'll let it go. Frank came off as bold and fun. The idea of Grace's twin wanting to set them up was AWSOME. I like when these stories have a past and don't start off all trashy. Every second of this book make me want it to be a full length novel. I love the idea of the best friend wanting his best friend to be there to take care of his sister. If that makes any sense. It really puts major emotion into the story. I'm trying not to give any spoilers. I loved this and actually recommend the read. It had everything and then some wrapped up in a bow. Honestly I knew it was a novella and still wish it could've been longer. It even brought tears to my eyes. I know a short story and I really loved it.
Another short story in the 1Night Stand series featuring a one night stand fantasy provided from the well known Madame Eve. This time around the fantasy was set up through Grace's brother for Grace and his friend Frank. The blind date was set up months before Geordie died in combat. This was a good little story with enough erotica in it to keep it interesting (not too much over the top, although in real life I don't think anyone could perform that much in that short of a time lol). It has the foundation to make a longer story/character development.
A sweet, short romantic military themed tale. A girl loses her brother in combat and finds a year after his death that he is still looking out for her. A great read.
