*BONUS MATERIAL available ONLY in print version*They arrive alive. They always leave dead. But first, they give me their confessions, and this one has to everything to do with Christmas. Merry Ho-Ho and all that holiday cheer. This book has it the cozy, loving, gift-giving while chomping on cookies right before you die - type of feels you know you'll read with one of my confession books. If you think this book has all that fun, cheerful yule-tide greetings in it...you're only partially right. You know by now my name is Jack Steen, and for those who arrive on my 'death' ward at the Asylum, I'm the last face many will see before they die. I am the night nurse at an Asylum for the Criminally Insane, and most of my patients know me as their Angel of Death. I know them as mass murderers, rapists, and serial killers - among other things. Here's what they come on my floor, they give me their deathbed confession, and I help to make their death less painful. There's a catch, I want the real story, the one they haven't told anyone else. These killers are expert manipulators. I realize they could be playing with me and messing with my head. It's a chance I'm willing to take. Inside this book are 4 DeathBed Confessions all around the holiday Patient Clyde – likes to nibble on sugar cookies while watching his victim diePatient Penny – likes to replace the jam in the thumbprint cookies with bloodPatient Andrea – she's got a thing about gingerbread cookies and revengePatient Birdie Bleu - give her some candy cane shortbread cookies - after all she's been through, she deserves them. There is swearing in this book. And some stories might be a trigger for something you have a hard time handling. But, these ARE the confessions of serial killers, mass murderers and such, so what do you expect?Because it's the holidays ... my Christmas gift to you will be sharing my favorite anti-Christmas pl
The book, along with its collection of confessions, took a different turn this time, surprising us with an incredible and jaw-dropping twist. I'm eagerly looking forward to the release of the next book!
I always read each one of the Asylum Confession Files in one sitting. Merry Christmas to me! Great confessions for the Christmas season. Can't wait for book 7!
I gotta say, I was a little disappointed with this one. For starters, only two confessions technically. Then the fact that they weren’t completely Christmas type confessions bugged me a lot. Killings happened around Christmas, but that’s not what I was expecting. I was expecting something like a husband kills his wife on Christmas because of something she did on Christmas Eve. I don’t know. Just wasn’t expecting oh yeah all this happened and then it happened to be the holidays when I decided to kill them. Anyone else get what I’m saying?
It was a quick read and the twist at the end of the first confession had my jaw drop. I think these short books are great for in between reads , especially if you run into a slow burn ( like the other book I’m currently reading). I’ve purchased 2 others to keep me in line and hope that the next confessions are just as intriguing . The final one in this book, Becca’s confession made me sad . How many times do medical professionals need to discard patients’ concerns and this be their reality?
A Christmas themed one this time, and yes I’m reading it during summer 😂 was surprising to see the first three were all linked.
Clyde: Holy shit this was good. It was a fast read and I really understand why he did what he did. When protecting someone you love, you don’t really know how far you’ll go till you’re in a situation. I don’t blame him for doing what he did to protect Penny.
Andrea: Same story, so it was obviously good again. This time from Andrea’s perspective, she filled in a few gaps and told Jack what happened in her own words. I don’t blame her for what she did to protect Penny either.
Penny: I wasn’t expecting the revelation at the start at all! It was definitely a shocking twist. This wasn’t really a story, more just a revelation. Which will only make sense if you’ve read this book. You also find out who Birdie Bleu is.
Becca: A complete different confession, it’s a sad story. I can’t even imagine the pain and frustration Becca went through. The amount of anger she must have felt to be turned away, told she was crazy when she knew she was right, that her baby was ill and NO ONE helped?? It’s no wonder she snapped and did what she did.

This was the best Jack Steen book that I've read so far! Loved the morbid holiday theme, and the fact that several of the confessions wove together.
Also really enjoyed the following quotes:
"We women…we’re a tough breed and don’t let anyone tell you differently. We know what it takes to survive, and we’ll do anything to keep from falling apart. Even if we don’t like it. Even when we know it makes us look weak. We do it because we hope one day, it will make us stronger. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it just breaks us more."
"It’s a waste of breath to offer suggestions unless the other person is ready to hear them."
"People are born good, Jack. They learn to become evil. It’s not an instantaneous decision either. For most people, it’s a gradual occurrence that most aren’t even aware of."
It's time for another round of Asylum Confessions! This time it's a Christmas edition! This time we also have a sprinkle, sprinkle of Christmas recipes in-between (actual recipes not like cannibalism shit 😂.
We have stories from: * Patient Clyde * Patient Andrea * Patient Penny * Patient Becca
The first three stories are connected and by god what a f**king twist that was! Chef's Kiss! Perfection.
I also liked Becca's story too, I can see why she did what she did.
Overall I loved them all, love the series, can't wait to read the next one! I only have two left to read 😭 hopefully more will come soon!
I’ll be honestly didn’t really feel interested in keeping tabs on this book. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best. The first three characters tell the same story because they were all together just in different perspective. The last book tells the story of a mother who lost her daughter to doctors who didn’t listen when she said something was wrong with her child and it cause the child to die. In return Becca Poona Tim of cookie with cyanide. Everyone that was in active in her daughter’s care got a tin of cookies and died.

This might honestly be my fav out of all of the confessions. Penny broke my heart, but I was so happy she found Clyde and Andrea to help her along. Her mom and dad were the worst!!!! Uuugghhhh they deserved everything that happened to them. Even the uncle. Becca! My girl! She was wild! And I don’t blame her at all. It’s horrible when you are trying to get help and is being ignored. Jack this was amazing!
Well I think this one might be my favourite one out of the 6 I've read. I want to round it to 4.5 stars. I'm a Christmas nut so that probably added to why I enjoyed this one so much but also the first 3 confessions, did not expect it to be a patient with DID. It had me on tik tok for hours watching videos and trying to educate myself on people who have DID. Adding recipes after the confessions and the playlist at the end (which I shall listen to) was a fun element as well!

3.75 I was getting a little fed up with how repetitive the first two confessions were going and wondering if it really was necessary to go through all that again when the surprise reveal happened and had my jaw on the floor. Now I kind of want to go back and read it again to see if there were clues I missed. The last confession felt a little random though. Also bonus for christmas cookie recipes!
This one is my favorite yet! Christmas themed with a twist that I didn't see coming. Jack Steen is such a great storyteller that you will gobble his books right up. What really surprised me (more than the twist), was he included some of his mother's Christmas cookie recipes. Amazing!
I read so many books they usually become a blur. Jack Steen popped up on my Kindle recommendation list one day, and I've been awed by his books ever sense. I was happy to purchase book six because the other five were free to read on Kindle. Plus I get very caught up in the confessions. By the way, Stephen King needs to read you're shit, its fabulous!!!
What a great book to read around the holidays...if you aren't looking for a happy Christmas story. I was absolutely captivated by this installment, and can't wait to try the cookie recipes included. It contains one of my favorite trio of stories, even though the fourth story broke my heart. As always, I'm left wondering if I can really blame all the inmates for their actions...
I love these confession books. I've read all six, and I will continue to read them as long as Jack Steen writes them. They are crazy amazing reads. Do yourself a favor... READ THESE BOOKS! Jack, if you read these, I CAN'T WAIT FOR #7!
I enjoy Steen’s work, but did not find this one quite as captivating as his former confession files. I do wish he would make his books longer. I enjoy his work, and the way he involves his fan-base.
Jack did another great job. I really enjoy reading all his books. And I like how the 3 of or the story's all go together this time. (Really loved how you did that) Can't wait to read your next one.
Story three threw my for a loop! Honestly impressed with it. I thought the last story was random until they brought in a cookie part. I felt like this was definitely more story based rather than individualized stories. Always a a creepy, good read.
Love every single one of them. It’s rare that I even read a series but I cannot get enough of these books! So excited about the new one coming out too! Got my husband to read these as well. Please keep ‘em coming!
This one felt special due to the overarching story told by both Clyde and Andrea. I became really invested in them, and although I obviously already knew how their story would end (DUH), I still felt concerned about them and wanted them to get away with it.
This one in the series is unique and is set up different than the others. I won't tell you why as I feel it's a bit of a spoiler, nothing major, but still, no one likes too much info before they read a book right? I think I enjoyed this one more than the last couple only for my bias of the holidays. Unlike the narrator, I love xmas and I especially love anything "horror" mixed with xmas. The stories are interesting and I liked the characters in this one (often you hate half, feel pity for the others and maybe have one that you actually kinda like) and enjoyed the xmas centered stories (again, trying to not give anything away). It's a quick easy read so I'd recommend it.
