Author Jason Martell wrote in the Introduction to this 2012 book, “The word ‘apocalypse,’ so often associated with endings and with disaster, contains within itself a very different meaning---one that speaks of knowledge and vision, or freedom from illusion. It is a word that speaks of construction, rather than destruction… In this book, I will be concerned with this meaning of apocalypse---and, above all, with beginnings. I will be discussing our beginnings as Homo sapiens… How did we get here? Where did we begin? Who created us? Throughout human history, our religious traditions have asserted many---often conflicting---explanations for these questions. Similarly, scientists and historians have put forth countless theories… of antiquity. All too often, religion and science come into direct conflict on these questions… But how can we ever expect to change as a race if we don’t accept our place in the universe? Can we lift that veil that covers our eyes? The ancient astronaut theory allows us to do just that. In this book, I will provide an easy and understandable gateway for introducing newcomers to the ancient astronaut theory and the true nature of our human history…
“All ancient cultures speak of a time when they had connections with beings not from Earth that were both spiritually and technologically more advanced than us. Yet in modern times, we have still not managed to make contact with extraterrestrial life… I wonder how their existence can be discounted in the face of the evidence they have left of themselves and their culture in literally every corner of our planet… A visit by an extraterrestrial race would show all humanity that we are not alone and never have been… It is my sincere hope that… we can make enough change and progress to be welcomed into the galactic inner circle as respected members.” (Pg. 3-4)
Of the so-called ‘Face On Mars,’ he states, “Over the last 30 years, NASA has captured several images of the Face. For this test, I chose some of the more recent images shot in the ‘90s. It is interesting to note that the Face actually looks worse in more recent images. You would think that with improved camera technology, NASA would be able to produce clearer images of the Face over time. Yet, for some reason, the clearest images of the Face are from the ‘70s. Is NASA trying to hide something?” (Pg. 17)
He argues, “If you ask an Egyptologist, ‘Who built the Pyramids?’ they will answer that ancient Egyptian workers devoted to their pharaohs built them. They base this theory on wall carvings and hieroglyphs depicting workers moving large blocks of stone. But the real question should be ‘Where are the tools they used?’… It is not enough to say that 20,000 people working 80 years straight could have built all of this WITHOUT the use of large quarry sites or tools to excavate the stones used.” (Pg. 21)
Later, he adds, “What tools did these ancient peoples use to carve out these enormous slabs of rock? Not only that, the quarry from which the rocks must have come is over a mile away… What tools could have been used to transport them over a mile’s distance? And where is the evidence of those remarkable tools now?” (Pg. 33)
He notes, “The mind-bending puzzle of Puma Punku hardly stops with the seemingly impossible size of the construction blocks themselves… it is the technology and engineering that clearly went into its highly complex construction. The ruins at Puma Punku… are remarkably constructed as an interlocking puzzle. The engineering and mathematics that went into the design boggles the mind. Each of the blocks has been carefully cut to interlock with its neighbor, and the whole thing fits together like a complicated puzzle---without the use of mortar… The uniformity of the blocks suggests prefabrication and mass production, a high level of technology and organization. Yet, those who built this wonder have left behind absolutely no written record.” (Pg. 44)
Of Sacsahuaman, he observes, “it is even more of a mystery how they had the mathematics and technology to assemble walls like this. The andesite rock was supposedly cut in these elaborate ways by bronze or stone tools, but this is impossible. No one has yet been able to chip or cut andesite with any implement, much less bronze. There is nothing in the world that rivals the brilliance of how these walls were built. And the truth is, though this is assumed to be an Incan site, no one really knows how long it has been there.” (Pg. 63-64)
He comments, “Notice in this image… the two entwined snakes and the ladder like ribbons between the serpents bodies… does it remind you of anything?... The discovery by modern science of the double helix structure of DNA offer the answer: The entwined serpents emulated the structure of the genetic code… If the Sumerians were conducting genetic experiments and had the capacity to create human life with test tubes several thousand years ago---where did they get their knowledge?... why were they developing their knowledge of genetic engineering? What was the purpose of such experimentation?” (Pg. 82)
He summarizes, “So much evidence is emerging to challenge the traditional theory of time that we simply cannot ignore it. In this book alone, we have already covered so many technological and archaeological enigmas it boggles the mind. We cannot fail to notice also that in so many cases, the advanced civilizations responsible for these enigmas suddenly, rapidly declined or completely disappeared all at once---leaving absolutely no sign of what caused their demise. How can so many civilized cultures of antiquity be so shrouded in mystery? Why did so may advance[d] peoples suddenly cease to exist or to decline slowly and steadily over a period of years?” (Pg. 117)
He concludes, “Today, of course, we still suffer from wars and disease---it is far from a Golden Age yet. But still, there is a movement happening, a growing number of people who believe that they have a profound connection to the Universe on the whole. Consciousness is already shifting and expanding. The more we are willing [to] explore and to accept the reality of our past as a species on this planet, the more bravely we can move forward into our future. We cannot do this blindly. We must pull the veil from our eyes and accept what we see.” (Pg. 124)
This book will appeal to those interested in ‘Ancient Astronaut’ theories.
