A gorgeously illustrated herbal from the witchy experts at Tamed Wild, this handy guidebook introduces readers to the most common and powerful healing herbs and the wisdom gained over centuries of use. Ideal for green witches and budding herbalists!
Inspired by Tamed Wild’s best-selling herb decks , this handbook covers more than 60 magickal herbs--a must-have for anyone interested in the power of herbal healing.
A lovely hand-painted watercolor introduces each herb, offering an artist’s look at the identifying characteristics. The accompanying text offers the key information every herbalist needs to
Beautifully produced, this charming and informative guide is a must for everyone interested in the healing and magickal properties of herbs.
Beautiful illustrations with good information that's great for beginners but I would have liked more information on how to medicinally use the herbs and how to collect the parts of each plant respectfully and effectively
Very very shallow information on the herbs that were “spotlighted”. I would not call this a “guide” by any means. The cover is cute, so may be best as a decorative piece than for actual use.
Is hygge a reading category? If not, it should be.
“Wild Medicine” is a cute grab and peruse guide with over 60 herbs to learn from and experiment with. I appreciated the detailed instructions for creating an infusion versus a tincture/glycerite, elixir (almost the same as a tincture but with sweetness added, like honey), infused oil, salve (starts with an infused oil), decoction (tea that is simmered), and of course a syrup, or infused honey.
This is definitely a coffee table/bar cart type of read, and anyone looking for extended knowledge or more detailed instructions/uses would benefit with further reading elsewhere, of course. This is primarily meant to give a high level understanding of common herbs, their lore, uses, how they can nourish beyond the day to day, and help inspire you to get out there and try spinning something different (and magical!) up for yourself.
An intro book to herbs less than a guide. Learned some cultural history but really not deep in herbal information. More an introduction to some herbs and quick simple ways to work with them. A visually beautiful book and a start to a collection for me.
The illustrations in this book were really pretty, but not super realistic, so I didn't find them all that helpful. This was a good intro to many different herbs, but I think I have all this information in other herbalist books so I probably won't keep it on my personal shelf.
