A highly detailed combat study of Napoleon's 1805 Ulm-Austerlitz campaigns, this book is based on exhaustive use of French archival research. Sweeping battle narrative, coupled with new, detailed maps and orders of battle make Napoleon and Austerlitz a must.
This book was pilloried for its many errors. Much of the criticism is over whether he really looked into the source material he claims and I'm not qualified to argue on that score. However the book is really agenda driven and this comes out all too clearly. Great shame as the format had great prospects for setting a new standard for presenting battle histories.
This book is an excellent protrayel of Napoleon and his army. A huge amount of staggering historical research, I am a fan of this, and it's very accesible for people to read
