War and thriller novelist, science fiction short stories, indie publisher, Civil War historian, hungry traveler, Vietnam vet '68-69 still trying to figure things out. Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite fanatic! Big fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald - I think him the greatest stylist in American English.

An SH. Jungle War Engagement (GS) (ANOTVW)

An SH. Fictional account of actual combat assignments in Viet Nam. SH. has introduced a young man who is placed in a combat arena with the training to survive in the jungle with it without weapons. It is an introduction to the phrase, "Black Ops", or those classified missions which were, generally, VOC, ( Verbal Order of the Commander)and one to six men in the team. This novel gives the reader the insight to determine their own beliefs about the war in Viet Nam. This is an excellent read for the genre.....the writer has presented the facts and the reader must make up his or her on mind the context of the material.....War is Hell.....DEHS

A good fictional but realistic war story.

This was a good fictional but realistic Vietnam war story. After reading many war stories written by actual Vietnam war vets I can see much of what is written here to be sadly possible and not fictional exaserations. Read it for yourself and see. War is not a game to be played by those not willing to participate.

Vietnam War Horrors

Sad and depressing weaved with truths about a political war being fought by kids many 18 and 19 years old. I lost too many Brothers in Arms, high school classmates and friends.

Human

A good account of a soldiers wrangling with the horrors of war, and what it means. Well written and looking forward to the test of the series.

Excellent book! Admittedly I am a noncombattant but I do believe that the author described the Vietnam situation with accuracy and what went wrong there having read the books by Bernard Fall. I ordered Hardesty's follow-ups immediately after having read the Ghost Soldiers

A complete and utter waste of time. A turgid, overblown, and formulaic recapitulation of the old mantra 'war is hell'
