Raven Kennedy is a tea and dark chocolate kind of girl and can often be found binge-watching The Office or The Great British Baking Show.
She enjoys writing all kinds of books, because each one brings a different experience. Whatever the genre, she hopes she creates characters you can root for.
When she’s not reading or writing, she’s with her family, probably messing up a recipe or going on a hike that she thinks she can do, but in reality she can't because she remembers that all she does is sit at a computer all day and write her heart out.
You can connect with her on Facebook in Raven Kennedy's Reader Group, as well as @ravenkennedybooks on Instagram.
Having started the first book multiple times and putting it down in annoyance, I was finally so desperate for disassociation that I made it through 3.5 before my Spotify audiobook minutes ran out. It wasn’t good. The plot holes were cavernous and the smut was middling (at best). On the other hand, the themes might be cathartic for someone who has just extricated themselves from an abusive relationship, so an extra star for that!
Amazing! Gave me all the feels book 1-3 was one story line book 4 is a little slow because it sets you up for the next two story lines! Book 5 was amazing gave me chillls! Loved all of them 💛
It started very interesting, then it became boring in the third book/fourth book, but then it picks up again on the following books. In overall, it’s a good series. Sometimes the self pitying and the whole “I’m a monster” x “I’m a victim” kinda gets annoying at times. But the story is well written, it develops well and it’s easy to follow. Most of the things happening are very well explained and inserted slowly, so you don’t really get confused about what is happening during the reading. I love that it’s a big series (6 books) so it keeps you entertained for a while. The romantic partner, Slade, is nicely developed and a hottie. I don’t think the books are THAT spicy, it’s pretty balanced. I wish the side characters were a bit better developed and we could see more of their personality and story. I would definitely recommend the series to a friend.
The Plated Prisoner series starts off quite slow, the first book eases us into the world, introduces the main character (Auren) quite well, doing so mainly through showing not telling, as well as some flashbacks, which is great. We get to see the dynamics of her relationship with Midas, her inner dialogue staying true to her character. As she breaks free of her literal cage, we witness her gradually breaking out of her mental one as well.
Auren’s travels with the Fourth’s Army bring out more of her nature and display her inner conflicts. The author remains loyal to the gradual development of her personality, making Auren more believable and likeable as a character (like when she remains loyal to Midas, because it’s the only thing she’s known for years, and doesn’t immediately pine for Rip, just because he’s hot). She goes through enough struggles to make her grow as a person and make the readers root for her. She has solid relationships with multiple supporting characters, as well as Slade, which all evolve and grow throughout the series
Rip/Slade is also very likeable, he truly is the villain he claims to be (unlike some of the MMCs out there who are tortured, say that they are bad but don’t actually support any of their claims through actions). He is loyal and fierce in his love. It’s great that we have his POV, especially during the flashbacks to his childhood. We are shown how he became the person he is at present, the struggles he had to go through and the complicated relationships with his friends and family.
The relationship between Auren and Slade is solid, it was definitely a slow burn, with a mutual strong attraction towards one another, which gradually turned into passion and love. I do think that the sex scenes between them lack some tenderness and the crude and vulgar language is a bit off putting (also, every time Slade calls Auren ‘baby’ is so cringe worthy it’s distracting). Especially their first time should have been more tender and emotional, since Auren has been sexually abused and exploited in the past and hasn’t known true passion or trust. All the other couplings are so similar to one another that all seem to be following a strict scheme (enemies to reluctant allies, but with a strong sexual pull to one another, to obsessed lovers). This trope is great, but if you have it so many times in the same series, the author should have made it at the very least more nuanced, or switched the dynamic between the FCs and MCs, maybe making the female the dominant one for a change.
The side characters (like the Wrath) could have more developed stories, but their personalities are very vibrant and consistent.
The magic system isn’t very unique or interesting, but it works fine. Only, it could have been introduced in a better and more thorough way. For instance why don’t all the fay have magic? How is it passed on through generations? Auren’s gold touch is the most confusing of all the magic abilities mentioned. How does she obtain energy from food if everything she touches turns gold? Does her metabolism work differently? What happens to the food already inside of her? Does she poop gold? Why do her gold powers only work during the day? How is it that some things are turned solid gold and some (clothes especially) are plated and remain fluid (especially while she still didn’t have control over her magic)-is it just for plot convenience?
The political intrigue is quite simple, but keeps the tension going. The threats are not as powerfully felt due to Slade’s immense power, but are enough to keep the reader on edge. There is definite room for improvement and more complexities.
Overall, the books are written well, there are not many spelling mistakes or stylistic errors I could detect, the flow of the books is easy to follow and keeps the reader thoroughly engaged. The above-mentioned issues are quite minor and it is easy to ignore them during the read, they are by no means distracting and don’t disrupt the reading flow too much. A solid 4,5 stars from me, can’t wait for book 6!

**I’ve read books 1-5** Overall: 4.25/5⭐️ Why?: In my opinion, unlike most books, the series gets better as you continue to read. The first book is a bit slow and redundant, but the second book really starts to take the stage when it comes to setting the series up for success. The plot is good, it takes some time to piece everything together, but once you do then it’s unique in its own ways. I do love me a dark mysterious enemies to lovers.
I absolutely adore these books! Such a great story line, with just the right amount of spice. The character are so well built up through the story and the twists and then are truly surprising. I usually can pick what's going to happen in romantacy stories, but not this one. I didn't see THAT twist coming. The MMC is great, which the right balance of being unexpected and exactly what you're hoping for. Love, love, loved it
4.5⭐️. Honestly I read the first 3 books so fast! I was gripped by the characters, the story, & I didn’t see the twists coming! I love a book that keeps me on my toes. The only reason I gave it less stars was because I personally didn’t enjoy the last book in the series (Gold). It felt a little rushed in the story, some loose ends, & some characters that weren’t fully explored (others were really explored & written so well!). Definitely a must read series though.

I loved the series so much, I think its the next games of thrones (although I didn't read or watch it ;) we see auren growth and how she broke off her not only physical cage but also psychological one. the words, politics and side characters and stories (especially rissa and more so malina ) I felt the love story between the main characters and rissa's love story sometimes it's a bit...I don't know like out od no where to string too fast especially rissa's
This whole series (5 books including Goldfinch) had me on my toes from the beginning to the end. Raven Kennedys characters and plot twists were otherworldly! I read these books within a 3 weeks and a half. From Imprisonment to Empowerment the Female main Character Auren grows tremendously! I also love the Main Male Character and his many layers! Definitely a must read! I would dare to say I would re read it again that’s how good this series is!
This series is not for the sqeemish but persist and be rewarded with an amazing character development journey that will give you a rollercoaster of a ride. There are a lot of triggers in this series so reader beware. I absolutely loved the journey Auren goes through and the strength she finds within herself which is very inspiring. I loved every book.
Just the most boring series I’ve ever read! U can literally skip chapter after chapter and not miss any part of the actual plot! I found myself skipping page after page of just pointless writing. It is such an unbelievablly slow story that has way tooooo many books that are completely unneeded! Could have finished this series with 2-3 books tbh.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!! OMG. The first chapter makes it sound like it’s going to be absolute Utz 24 seven but it actually isn’t bad whatsoever. There was barely any spice until later books.
I DEVOURED the first four weeks in a week or two then had to wait for the last one to come out on audible.
I have read this series twice now and it was just as good if not better the second time around. Picked up on so many more nuances. The story telling by Raven Kennedy is so phenomenal.
found the first book slow, really enjoyed the the male lead and the books improved as i continued. the female lead grew in character from a struggled young lady to a power character.
Unique perspective on King Midas. I just hate it that now I have to wait for the final book in the series, I'm not a patient person. Ready for some Rot!
Had so fun read listening on audible, tore through this series. Book 4 slightly slower with 2 story lines going but truly just a joy to read. A fantastic romantasy series.
Had to read each book back to back. Well written, captivating and a reminder of the beauty of male/female loving, authentic relationships as well as unity vs separation and greed. Truly a good read!
I did love the story, the main couple get a bit exhausting by the end. But the world build is good. I wanted to know more about the sub characters stories.
I absolutely LOVED this series! I felt all the emotions and had my heart ripped out many times, but what a BEAUTIFUL story ✨ Definitely going into my top 5 EVER!
