Third Day

Rate this book
On the third day, he rose again.

In The Third Living the Resurrection , Tom Berlin uses his gifts of storytelling and understanding the Scriptures to connect the reader to the experiences of several individuals around Jesus in his final days, focusing on new life and redemption rather than loss.

Join Peter, Mary Magdalene, and Thomas as they feel the despair of losing Jesus and the surprise and joy that awaits them in the resurrection. This study traces events around these characters, along with Paul and the disciples at Emmaus, and how the resurrection transforms their lives.

The book can be read alone or used for a six-week group study and church-wide Lenten program. Components include a comprehensive Leader Guide and video teaching sessions featuring Tom (with closed captioning).

Through the perspective of those who experienced it first hand, this book examines the power and impact of the central pillar of the Christian faith, Christ’s resurrection. Whether read separately or as part of a 6 week study, each hope-filled chapter offers insight into the transformative effect of resurrection, both then and now.

This book covers the stories of the people mentioned in the bible who were affected by Jesus's resurrection - Mary Magdalene, Peter, Thomas, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and Paul - and ends with a chapter about Jesus himself. I appreciated the opportunity to think more about the resurrection itself rather than focusing so much on the events leading up to it, as we usually do during Lent. The videos that are available to accompany book studies add quite a bit of understanding to the short book as well.

A great book for small groups. I especially like the choice of biblical figures and how their encounters with the Risen Christ transformed their lives.

Excellent study of how the resurrection impacted those close to Jesus. Did this as a small group study w/video sessions too. Sparked good conversations.

Loved Berlin's insights into the resurrection and its implications for everyday living, including the tangible ways we can apply these lessons to our own lives.

Encouraged my interest and learning. I disagreed with some sections and points of view that seemed biased and forced unnecessarily.

Pretty good book for looking at Lent in a new way compared to how it is usually preached about. The opening pages of the book lay out a good template of what will follow and why thinking of the resurrection is so important.

Some of the supporting stories did not resonate with me very well.
