Zaria is caught in the middle of an ancient battle between the neuri and vampyre of Belgrade .
She is hopelessly drawn to Darise but then the neuri Zauran kidnaps her, changing everything. It couldn't be more complicated. Darise offers unconditional love, Zauran offers rabid passion, throw in the rest of the family and you have mayhem. Then betrayal catapults Zaria into Zauran's life just when a king returns to cause anarchy.
Božena is a poisoned thorn in Zaria's side and her world comes crashing down as violence, betrayal and death, threaten to rip her from love. A king's key is the bridge between Zaria and happiness, but for some the rescue comes too late.
So, with every book in this series, set around Pravus, there is much going on. Long story short - It is now the Neuri series, and this book is about Sveta's love for Zena. Sveta is amazingly long on compassion and tolerance....for Zena. Zena has had an appallingly dysfunctional upbringing, impacting her core beliefs about love and life, she is a mass of insecurities and passive/aggressive behaviour. Zena's inability to understand love, as opposed to lust, pain as opposed to pleasure is fully on display. She also believes that pain is just and fair for her, expecting no better, shutting down anyone in her life that is kind or caring; as history has shown caring or love equals waiting for the bullshit, or the other shoe to drop. Yet she craves love, belonging and acceptance like a drug, but doesn't know how to reach it. It started in Zauran and comes to a head in Neuri book 1, Sveta. The romance between Sveta and Zena is very angsty, but beautiful. At the heart of it is this deep, sure, love and devotion from Sveta, with some understandable moments of pain and worry; and also a spiritual awakening of what love means and entails.
Sveta also continues the Neuri and the Vampyre's tenuous relationships with one another; how that's going. Reading about these paranormals is a buzz, and shows Poppet's paranormal's are a delicious study in deep love, strong reactions, and stark contradictions. These paranormal's change their minds like the wind, have agendas, shift the goal posts, and love is a powerful tool - for good or bad - Sveta take a bow for good, Jowendrhan stand up for bad, maybe, perhaps; it isn't so clear cut, it's how you interpret it. Having said that, Darise just stays on my shit-list. Plus, someone/something is murdering humans/beings, making the Neuri, Vampyres and demons edgy, trying to frame others. Who is involved, and why? Once again suspicions surface, powering prejudices. The who/what shows up later in the book which leads the readers into Ryan. There are also a new group of paranormals introduced in Sveta, the more the merrier for me. I will also cryptically add - A is for ahh, yes please, and A is also for arsehole.
The Neuri Series is a continuation into the magical and emotional world of Pravus. The world envisioned and portrayed takes you to the heart of the Neuri - to their emotional and at times dysfunctional relationships. This book is the story of Sveta and Zena. Sveta is completely and utterly in love with Zena. His capacity for what he feels for Zena has no limits. But Zena has the remnants of scarring emotional baggage. That baggage - truly caused me to ache and feel for her. I will admit - that up until this book I did not care for Sveta as a character. But WOWZA did my feelings change for him in this book. He is the type of man every woman craves. And he wants nothing more than to heal his Zena and make her whole again. Can he do it? And at what price will he pay for it. Jo is again the character I love to hate - but I have a feeling he will grow on me... like poison ivy.... The moment when Sveta believes he has been betrayed tore my heart from my chest and left me in tears.. my heart ached for the entire rest of the story - until I knew what was meant to be. A complete blindside hit me when I fell completely and lustfully in love with Zarak! He is the bad boy with the slight sadistic side - and holy hot Zarak - I want more of him... I highly recommend Poppets works and can not stress enough that this womans imagination knows no bounds. Each word; each sentence; each paragraph and page is an intricately woven tale of pure deliciousness!!
Favorite line from the book: Swirling tangerine iridescence they clear to flint for a moment, the seduction brimming in them is so dark and elicit I can already hear myself screaming his name!!! (Can you say YUM!!)
I reviewed this book once and was so into the story I was at a loss for words on what to write.. So I am going to try again. I absolutely love Sveta he is a total alpha male but he is so sweet and caring and willing to do whatever it takes for the one he loves. Zena is damaged woman and that damage goes back way farther than what happened to her in Zauran. She is needy but standoffish clingy but pushes Sveta away emotionally. Poppet takes you on a wild ride through a romance that seems doomed from the start. Your favorite characters are still here from the Pravus series however in light of recent events. I will leave it up to you to judge wether or not they are still your favorites. Murders are on the loose and some of these men can't get their ego's in check long enough to work together to catch the killer/killers and the very woman they long to protect are in imminant danger. This book is amazing along with all of Poppet's other works and this series is starting out to be one wild and imaginative ride. You dont want to miss the continuation of the Pravus series. This is a must read.
After the last I didn't know how long it would be until I started the next series. But I put a band-aid over my heart and started reading Sveta this morning. I don't care much for Sveta but I had to know what was next! Jowendrahan? I don't know why but I still like him. He's an egotistical idiot but I just can't help but like him. He just had to get in trouble Again! ... Darise can turn mortal, burn in hell while watching everybody with their mates happy and full of joy!! Bozena really got on my damn nerves especially when she tried to "escape" everything and everyone. Ellindt is still a bitch that I don't like! And every book reveals new characters, its like gahh there's more of them!? Arelstin better not touch Phoebe!!! I still like Venix, though I'm not sure what's up with him and Zauran is cool with me I guess... I have a very bad feeling I'm not gonna like the next book. I just don't want them together! I want our man back!!!! I need him and so does she!! Uggh the heart breaking torture!! <3
OMG, OMG, OMG...only briefly describes how I feel about Sveta, given you multiply that by ten thousand times. Author Poppet is truly amazing in the way she can make you fall in love with everything she writes. 'Sveta' took me through a range of emotions I didn't know were humanly possible, not all at the same time, which is incredibly amazing. I felt love, confusion, guilt, intrigue, compassion and at times flat out wanted to grab a butcher knife, while wanting to hug the character and tell them it would be okay-all at the same time. At times, I wanted to jump the characters bones, but instead opted for taking a cold shower, with ice cubes. I won't give spoilers, but if you want to be taken on a complete whirlwind affair with the different characters, you HAVE GOT to read this, it's INCREDIBLE.I've honestly never been more impressed by such a read. Poppet is a unique, one of a kind author.
Sveta, jumps straight into action as we read about a horrendous attack on a human and the description almost lets you hear the ribcage snap. There is a rogue vampire group wanting to frame the Neuri for the attacks but there is something deeper behind their reasons. In amongst all this violence is the love between Sveta who is neuri and Zena a human.
As I am new to this author, it took me some time to get use to the style of writing. The book is written all in 1st person but rather than staying on one character, it constantly switches from one point of view to another by simply putting the person’s name at the top of the page. Rather than swapping all the time it might have been easier to write the whole thing in 3rd person.
This is an unusual story with a love theme interwoven in its layers. If you can get passed the writing style, it is well worth a read.
Sveta Is Zauran's younger brother and even though he is a middle brother he doesn't let that stop him from going after what he wants and that is Bozena. This book the first of the Neuri series continues the journey of the Vampyre,Neuri,Slakax and demons and brings you closer to seeing the big picture in this supernatural world. This is an adventure you dont want to miss.Adventure, intrigue, romance, this book has it all!!For those of you who love a good read then this is definitely for you.I have read all of the Pravus and Neuri series 4 times and I still don't want it to end when I reach the last page.
review to come ......just so u know ....THIS WAS AMAZING !!!
Just like the pravus series , This series (that follows Pravus) was set up but this book SVETA to be just incredible !!!.....it actually ruined me for any other book for a few days ! i just couldnt get into anything else . it all just seemed soo....hmmm BLAHH & lifeless compaired to this
ok back soon with a full review ..i will not write a rushed review for poppets work . She deserves so much more than that :)
I absolutely loved this book. I can say It has become one of my all time favorites. The book displays raw emotions. A conflict of the soul. learning to love and trust and breaking down walls that have been built for so many years. I recommend this book I could not put it down. Poppet did great I am a fan already but this book spoke volumes to me. thank you.
This book is a nice slow seduction by the Neuri. The youngest Sveta is a wild young being full of love and willing to take a beating for his woman. Zena had no idea how truly wild this Neuri was when she met him. He took good care of her and showed her his loving side. I'm so glad we got to see his rebellious wild side in this book. I may just have a new favorite in this series!
4.5 Stars - Poppet is awesome as usual! I wish I would have read all of these books one after the other though. I had to keep going back to the other books to make sure I had the characters straight. This is my issue of course=) Can't wait to read Ryan next!
