Saundra grew up in Cleveland, Mississippi, and now resides in Indiana with her husband and children. She started writing screenplays at the age of twelve and as an adult her need to create intensified. Saundra’s stories highlight fearless females who hustle to get what they deserve. Her debut novel, Her Sweetest Revenge, began the series that won praise for being a “roller-coaster ride” and “drama at its best.” Saundra is currently at writer at Kensington Publishing and loves to hear from readers.
I enjoyed Author Saundra’s debut novel “Her Sweetest Revenge“. This book was a good street fiction read. She was able to bring life into each of the characters in that you weren’t playing the guessing game about who they were and what they were about. The book kept me reading to see what would happen next. The main character “Mya” did what she had to do for her and her siblings to survive in the streets of Detroit at the same time trying to make sure her siblings didn’t get caught up. After visiting her father, who was locked up but gave her a message of survival during her visit…she got it real quick and went to work on her mission. Although she was young, the girl learned how to handle her business. I was impressed with her courage. Lots of family and street drama as well as suspense filled the pages and it really had me going towards the end. I’m so hoping for a sequel because that ending left me saying…”Oh come on now”, lol … I definitely want more. Author Saundra did a great job for her debut. I look forward to reading more of her work.
Yesssssssssss gawd. Miss Saundra showed out on this book. In all honesty I didn't think I would enjoy this but this ended up being a definite page turner! Mya was a trip! I liked her character for being a strong independent young lady willing to do what she had to do for her family. This had sad moments and it's sad that many young people live the life the characters in the book lead (violence, drug addiction). I will have to recommend this book to people who enjoy a good urban lit novel. My hats off to Saundra!
There better be a sequel cause you know you were dead wrong for that ending Miss Saundra lol.
Mya is a young girl with her back against the wall, but like a pitbull she fights her way out. Growing up she was the spoiled girl with money, being that her father was the biggest drug dealer in Detroit. But when he gets knocked everything crumbles right along with the kingdom he built. Mya's mother couldn't take the stress of raising three kids so she turned to the streets. Mya had no choice but to raise herself and her brother and sister. Poor and in the projects, Mya sought out a way to get revenge on those whom brought harm to her family and yes revenge is sweet but it also is costly!!!
Mya Bedford has to grow up early in the projects of Detroit because her mother is in no condition to take care of Mya or her siblings. When her mother is attacked, Mya finds who is behind it and decides it’s time for them to fight back. Mya with the help of her father’s advice develops a plan to take care of the people responsible for hurting her family. Mya doesn’t realize what she is getting herself into and the consequences involved. She is determined to make things better for her family and will if she stays on course and doesn’t get sidetracked.
This was a very entertaining book with drama, twist and turns, frustration and cheering as Mya handles her business. She is a character you can’t help root for throughout the book. It is well-written with dynamic characters and just enough hood that will keep you interested and turning pages. The author does a wonderful not over dramatizing the street life or the thugs involved, which makes me want to read the other books in this series. If you are looking for a fast past story that will take you on a journey, Her Sweetest Revenge will not disappoint.
I received this book from the publisher for review purpose only.
Saundra’s Her Sweetest Revenge is an unflinching, gritty, and unforgettable coming of age story set against the harsh realities of Detroit’s streets. Through Mya Bedford, a young woman forced to grow up too soon, Saundra captures the raw intersection of pain, power, and survival with cinematic intensity.
What makes this novel stand out is its fearless emotional depth. Mya’s transformation from a loyal daughter and protector to a woman driven by vengeance feels both tragic and empowering. The tension between love and loyalty, survival and morality, gives the story a pulse that never fades. Saundra’s prose is electric fast paced, vivid, and alive with the rhythm of real struggle and hard earned strength.
Her Sweetest Revenge is more than a tale of retribution it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the fierce determination to rise above circumstances that were never meant to break you.
I would have gave this book more stars but, I didn't like the ending and I think one book would have been enough! I probably will read part 2 and I hope it has a better ending!

I really enjoyed this story! It was filled with unexpected twist and turns. The author did a great job of developing the characters. Their situations were realistic. I really like how the author allowed me to feel every emotion expressed by Mya, Monica, Lil'Bo, and Hood. I especially like a book that allows me to feel more than one emotion. I laughed, cried, and got angry!I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway as part of the Firstreads program. I have never read a "street fiction" book before so getting used to the language was a bit difficult for me, and therefore I feel as though I couldn't relate to the characters as well as I would liked to have, but I did enjoy it. It's incredibly sad that Mya and her siblings were put into the situation, and I know she was young and she was doing the best job she could do in a bad situation, but I definitely didn't always agree with her choices. Overall, it was a decent book.
Wow! I didn't see that coming at all. I figured Lil Bo was gonna end up in the game regardless of what Mya wanted. Monica getting pregnant was a mind blower tho. & their mom becoming clean after his death was really cool. I loved this book and can't wait to start the second part. Who knows what's gonna happen. Did Luscious actually kill her or did he at least shoot her. Or did someone come in and kill him?
My first time reading anything by this author. I really enjoyed it. You can't help but to admire Mya for her strength throughout the book. Taking care of her two younger siblings after her dad goes to prison on a life sentence and her mom become a crack head, she does what she needs to do to make ends meet. Good read! Waiting for more from this author
The Struggle and pain this family went through.was so sad. The Father.going to jail, A cracked for a Mother, The death of Lil Bo. Charlene was a Dog and got what she deserved with her money hungry self.Mya was a very strong woman. can't wait for Part 2.
