The premise for this series is fun. The books are easy urban fantasy escapism. I liked the first book in this series more than this one. This one is from the POV of a different character, and I never connected with Amanda. It seemed almost as though an editor may have edited the writer's voice out of this book. The middle of the story seemed hollow. I will still read the next in the series, because it is a terrific premise and a good series.
