Dear Author, I had been a drifter all of my life until I came to his ranch. He didn't know that I was watching his strong and raw movements from the porch of his ranch house. Everyone in town said he was a mystery but I knew, in that moment when he was locked in this powerful dance with the big sorrel, that I had come home.

I'm fairly new to this writing lark. Stolen Summer is my first published book, there's another, 'Orion Rising' which will be released in March 2012, by Total E Bound and my latest novel, an m/m contemporary, 'Mourning Jack' will be released by Total E Bound in May 2012. Stay tuned!
I love to write and my characters never leave me alone until their story is told.
To those of you who've taken the time to read Stolen Summer and review and/or rank it, thank you so much. I'm glad I've written a book that you like.
NOTE: If you are an author who (a) does not appear to read books in my genre and (b) is attempting to friend me just for the purpose of spamming, I suggest you look elsewhere. Thank you.
When his tire blown, and Bryn is stranded in on a long stretch of road somewhere in the White Mountains of Arizona, Will Riley comes offers him a place to stay. Will has a ranch and he is thinking of running it as a Bed and Breakfast too, like his mother used to do.
Bryn used to run a small hotel with his lover for five years, before that partnership ended because his partner found somebody else. Since is looking for a job anyway, Bryn decides to accept Will's offer. But he gives Will one condition; to give him time until Thanksgiving, since Bryn has always been a drifter at heart.
Only after staying there for awhile, Bryn realizes that this time, he might have another reason to stay ...

While I'm not big on cowboy stories, but I always love a setting of a ranch in a middle of nowhere. It has this sort of quietness that I love in a story. Oh, I'm a city girl at heart, I cannot live without seeing tall buildings, but when I read, I always love that setting when you're quite far away from other people. It adds that intensity between the characters because it will be just the two of them (or a small group of people).
I love the slow built-up between Bryn and Will. Although it's a short story, everything is paced perfectly. Not too fast, not too short. AND, it's not boring too. I mean, right at the time when Bryn realizes he falls for Will, Will's ex comes back after 6 years (WARNING: Will's reaction to Terry's return might piss off some readers, especially if you dislike indecisiveness). That gives a wonderful climax and a scene that just squeezes my heart tight, when Will asks Bryn to stay.
FABULOUS story that just right for my taste. One of personal favorites from this event, that's for sure.
1 star. Extra half for being free. Rounded up by GR system.
Among the qualities of damsel in distress are she cannot save herself and she wants someone else come and help her. If there are two 'saviors' pinning for her, she wouldn't decide with whom she would like to be. She let them fight and sort it out for her. Just exactly what the character in this story does.
The two knights in shining armor were fighting with each other. At the corner, the fair maiden stood by herself. Crying softly. Trembling.
"Oh no... what am I gonna do? Please... please... stop fighting. I'll take whoever won... oh no... I don't know whom I want...Let me think..." Short breathed. "Oh God...Oh God... I cannot... just stop fighting please..."
And she wiped the tears running down her pink cheek with her white handkerchief. Through her fingers, she peeked at the fight.
The writing is standard, nothing particularly worth nothing, and there's subsequently nothing to draw attention away from the really weak plot. MC #1, Bryn, breaks down and is rescued by MC #2, Will, a tall, dark, and handsome cowboy. They dance uncertainly around each other for a bit and then Will's ex, who left him six year ago out of unhappiness at the small-town life they were living, returns, and it's here the story falls apart. After six years, and considering how the relationship ended, one would think Will would tell his ex to get lost right away, especially considering he's in a tentative relationship with a new guy, but he doesn't. The ex sticks around and Will waffles egregiously, despite the fact that there's never any justification for this indecision on his part. He doesn't seem to like his ex or anything; he just doesn't have the willpower to tell him to leave. Bryn frankly isn't much better. Everything is resolved at the end, of course, because the happily-ever-after is paramount, but the resolution is flimsy and the damage has already been done.
This one is hard to rate. I liked the plot idea but in the end it was kinda boring. I didn't really understand the emotions between the MCs especially why Bryn thought about leaving. There was nothing that could explain his motivation. And then that thing with Will's ex. I don't even know what to say about that. It felt like there needed to be some drama in that story but the whole situation was just odd. Probably it was not the right kind if story for me or maybe it was the wrong time for it.
Ehh this just did not work out for me. It moved too fast, I did not feel atatched to either of the MCs. I really liked the last book I read by this author so I think I'll just forget I read this one.
This was an okayread. I found the writing style a bit stiff and didn't quite feel the chemistry between the characters. There were a few holes in the plot and everything happened a bit too fast for my taste. Also I didn't quite get the Point of the ex.
I love the strong, silent, cowboy types and Will was no exception! There was no “major” angst or drama to contend with, just a gentle build of emotions as Will and Bryn went from the stage of getting to know each other and moved beyond as feelings of desire built for more. The only real angst that came into play was when Will’s ex came back into the picture and I wished he would have handled things a bit more decisively. Regardless, by the end, I loved that Will became the gentle anchor that rooted his tumbleweed (Bryn) to someplace where he felt at home. Very nice!
I liked the slow moving romance in this story. Bryn and Will make a great couple. What didn´t make this a 5 star read for me was that I didn´t really understad the way Will was acting when his ex came back. I really liked the dialogue. It felt real that neither of the guys talked a lot and in long and complicated sentences. They still managed to communicate through words and touches and closeness. A story that worked very well in short form.
A well-written story about 2 men finding a second chance at love when they least expect it. The story builds slowly yet it has a warmth to it, especially as the two men realize that they might have found a home for their heart in the other man.
Pretty good, nice writing style. Lost a couple of stars for Will being indecisive when Terry came back - Bryn deserves someone who knows without a doubt he wants to be with him, especially given that Terry was an asshole. How is there even a question for Will?
