What an amazing ending to Gio & Beatrice’s story.
And what an incredible series!!!

I am totally hooked on this series and it’s one of those that I will read over and over again.
And what a bonus….to get a bit more about some of the characters I have come to like so much – can’t wait to get onto the Elemental World next.
This is one author’s books that I will be definitely be reading in the future.

I was very lucky to receive an ARC of this book, but I put off reading it for a few days. If I didn't start it, it wouldn't have to end. But I did start it and it did end. Though the journey was breathtaking.
Filled with the perfect blend of humor, action and emotion, A Fall of Water brought an extraordinary series to a beautiful end. From the first page I was glued to the story, only stopping when I absolutely had to. The cast of characters we know and love were as strongly written and developed as ever with a few surprises thrown in.
This series captivated me from the start and refused to let go. Elizabeth Hunter proved once more what a brilliant talent she is. Not only did she create this thrilling world with an intriguing plot, she brought to life a group of characters like no other. She makes you feel something for each of them, be it good, bad or a combination of the two. Even the bad guy has layers you don't expect to find, but when you do, you find something unexpectedly beautiful.
So while I'm sad to say goodbye, I am grateful for the time I got to spend with them. And as a very sexy, intelligent fire vampire once said: Let it be enough. It was enough and then some.

Ok. So I love, love, love this series. Going into it, I really didn't know what it was about. I stumbled upon the first novel as a free download on the Kindle and hey, free is free. I have read a lot of vampire/human paranormal romance so I wasn't expecting too much. However, I was quickly drawn into story and didn't look back. It is exactly what I wanted Twilight to be (Sorry Stephanie). Don't get me wrong. I still love Twilight as a guilty pleasure, but this is a much more grown up version which fixes all the issues I had with the story in Twilight. First, the relationship takes more than a few weeks/months to develop. The story takes place over several years. At the beginning, you aren't even sure if Giovanni is going to be the typical good guy or not. When his character is introduced, Hunter is purposefully amibiguous about his intentions. Beatrice is already on her own as a grownup (for the most part) when they meet. Secondly, when they separate she doesn't fall to pieces and sink into a deep suicidal depression. She actually moves on with her life and has real relationships and finishes grad school (the teacher in me especially loves that part). Some have complained about the brief insinuation of a love triangle in the third novel, but I though Hunter dealt with that in a tasteful manner. While she has the brief flirtation with Baojia, it never makes her doubt her feelings for Gio or does is become a major plot distration. I like the deep political machinations in all four novels and the deepening mystery which ties them all neatly together. I also enjoyed the additions to the vampire mythos which for me really worked. (Am I gushing yet?) I am very excited at the prospect of more novels, the first of which will focus on Carwyn. I kept waiting to find out who Brigid was so it seems my questions will be answered then. I really didn't think I was going to like Tenzin either, but she quickly became one of my favorites. I highly recommend all the books in this series and eagerly await more of Elizabeth Hunter's novels. Well done.

With a brief time out to allow Beatrice 'B' DeNovo to adapt to changes brought about by the events in The Force of the Wind, B and her vampire husband Giovanni Vecchio are hot on the trail of the vampire who was helping her father as their hunt leads them to Rome and the domain of Gio's 'stepmother' - and they are at last close to discovering the truth behind the secret that could change the vampire world forever...
While there are some great action packed moments, and while it was great to finally learn the truth behind the mystery, for me the real strength of the slowly unfolding story in A Fall of Water was the further development of the relationships between the members of the cast that I have grown to love over the course of the series. In addition to many intimate moments between B and Gio, as their relationship solidifies into a true happily eternal ever after, I loved seeing more of Ben - B and Gio's adopted son – who has really grown up since the last book. Ben has some good moments with Tensin – who I absolutely love – and also with Dez (B's human best friend.) I also loved the parts with Tensin and B together – including some bloody moments when they show that they are a force to be reckoned with.
One of the things that surprised me - and this is a testament to how well developed the all of characters were - was that Hunter actually managed to stir some sympathy for one of the villains of the story, one who has been nothing short of despicable from the beginning. Which is not to say that this character is redeemed, it is just that after being given glimpses of some of the losses and cruelties that shaped this character, I felt a bit sad for the person that character might have been.
So, I really liked A Fall of Water which wraps up the four book story arc for Gio and B with lots of one on one time for B and Gio, lots of action, and the answers to the mysteries that have been unfolding over the course of the Hunter's Elemental Mysteries Series. I have really enjoyed this series and will be sad to leave B and Gio behind but I am happy that Hunter is planning to continue telling stories in this world. She has a stand alone book for Carwyn, who is always fun, in the works and I am keeping my fingers crossed for more of Baojia - who I loved in the last book but who only had a whisper of screen time here.

Very good ending to a series! The flashbacks are done well, but used frequently. It tampered with my reading rhythm.
There's plenty character growth from book one to book four. The action sequences were fiendishly good. Their Elemental powers were on full display. The good guys entered on cue, yet not always on time.
Other characters have stories I hope will be told, such as Tenzin, Ben, Deidre, etc. I am glad I skipped this book to read Carwyn's, as this book would have been spoilery for Building from Ashes.
Recommended series for those who want something outside the PNR box.

It’s over *sniff*, I can’t believe it’s over! But OMG, what a sensational ride! There are twists, turns, and shocks along the way, and after four books, everything is wrapped up beautifully! It’s AWESOME!
I loved the way this story unfolded. Like the other books in the series, it merges fantastically from the horrific events immediately ending the last book of the series (and the emotion is still right there!), into the next stage of the journey - this time in Rome, as Gio and Beatrice continue their search for the missing book, the mystery elixir, and psycho evil guy, Lorenzo. There is, again, a lot of political strategy going on, and I loved the scheming and power plays.
And, for the first time, the entire gang is together! Gio and Beatrice are accompanied by Ben, Dez and Matt, with Carwyn and Tenzin along for the ride, as well as a few unexpected and friends popping up, and a whole raft of new characters – including the mysterious Livia.
But really, it’s all about Gio and Beatrice, and their story is incredible. They have been through so much, both together and apart, but they are so in love, there for each other through everything, they accept each other without question, and they are totally committed to each other. There’s no stupid, no unnecessary drama, they are together, they are happy, and that’s it. And it’s fantastic! And my beloved Gio is still bringing the swoon!
“Loving you has been the finest thing I have done in five hundred years … I do not tell you enough.”
She looked up and smiled. “You tell me every night.”
“It is not enough … It is never enough”
“It is enough.”
“No.” … “Never enough. It should be the unceasing prayer on my lips. The echo in every breath I take.”
*dreamy sigh*
While Gio and Beatrice have never been lacking for sexy time, it’s definitely a bit more explicit in this one. But it’s not gratuitous. It’s always very emotive, and suits the mood and the emotion that it needs to, and it fits into the story beautifully.
As a bonus, we also get some flashbacks to Gio’s youth sprinkled throughout the story, which gives us a bit more detailed background – particularly highlighting the dynamic between him, Andros and Lorenzo.
And, for the first time, there is Ben POV! This was a really welcome addition to the story. I love Ben! Watching him not only grow up, but thrive, in his unusual world has been fantastic. I love his devotion to his family, his nature, and his developing badassery, and hope we get to see more of him. He’s such a sensational little smartass.
“So, how’s school? How’s everything going?”
“Can Gio hear us?”
… “Yes”
“Oh, well then, it’s going magnificently. I’m so fortunate to have a knowledgeable and patient teacher like my uncle, who is imparting his centuries of wisdom into my eager young mind.”
I love the dynamic of his relationships too - he has a great bond with both Tenzin and Dez, and, of course, Gio and Beatrice.
There’s a whole lot of action in this one, as things all come to their exciting conclusion, and with all the gang together, and as a new (seriously evil) villain is revealed, everybody gets a chance to get their badass on. Some of these scenes are just like an action movie – the way Hunter writes them, you can see it all in front of you, and there is a touch of epicness about it with the way the scene is set, the imagery she uses, and the badass banter. And yeah, I may have been guilty of a fistpump or two.
“A guard spoke. “Stop, both of you! You may not enter the castle with weapons.”
Tenzin drew her sword in the space of a heartbeat, sliced off the head of the guard who spoke, and kept walking as the body crumbled to the ground. “Oh, really?”
“This is my hall. And I do not--”
She was cut off as a sharp spear of fire shot out of Arosh’s fingers. (She) pulled a guard in front of her, who immediately turned to ash.
“Shut up, woman. I am speaking.”
I love this series! It seems to be more of an understated PNR, but it definitely has all of the winning elements! The writing is fantastic, and the storyline is intriguing and kept me glued to my kindle the whole way through. The characters are brilliant (seriously – I have mad love for pretty much everybody), and the dialogue is sharp and witty. There is action, humour, and general vampire-powered-awesomeness, all set within a brilliantly developed, original and sophisticated paranormal world.
And while I am sad to say goodbye to Gio and Beatrice, I’m excited to continue on with the Elemental World series. Carwyn definitely has something brewing throughout this story, I can’t wait to read his book.
I highly recommend this series to any PNR lover.

I have really enjoyed the Elemental Mysteries series –and this final installment completely satisfied. I’ve read some reviews that liken these books to a more grown-up Twilight, and in some intangible way, I can see the comparison. There is something about the tone… the need these two characters have for each other that’s similar. How this immortal man’s life changes utterly in loving this human woman and how she becomes even greater as she joins his world. There are other parallels, too, with vampire families and dangerous, political ancients. But this is very much its own story. And Beatrice is such a force as a heroine, no one could ever mistake her for an awkward teenager.
If you are a new reader, by the way, this book is no place to start the series. Go back to the beginning. You’ll be glad you did.
Anyway, we pick up here with our characters trying to move forward from the tragedy of the last installment. They’re still trying to solve the mystery of the elixir and who is helping Lorenzo with his push to make it a reality. That means taking a trip to Rome, where Gio was built into the immortal he is today. It means meeting his sire’s wife. And looking into the past to see the future.
There are a ton of flashbacks here, and with them, we get to know the vampire who turned our hero and the means in which he shaped him into his ideal son. These looks back also give us a chance to see another side of Lorenzo. You could almost feel sorry for him when you learn what drove him to his hate.
There is also a lot happening in the present. Political manipulations. Betrayals. Plenty of action. But it’s all a backdrop for the character stuff you care about. The epic love between Gio and B. Big changes and questions for Carwyn. Some quality time spent with Ben –who is growing up to be an interesting character in his own right. Plus, some fascinating new vampires with answers to the questions we’ve been asking since the beginning. I did miss some of the supporting characters who couldn’t come along for the international trip, but I hold out hope we’ll see more of them in the series spinoff.
It really is a great ride. And a satisfying ending. I would recommend for fans of PNR who don’t mind a slow burn when it pays off big in the end.

What can you say about a story that includes the hunt for an ancient manuscript, a 500 year old vampire, a treasure hunt, a spunky, kick-ass librarian, political intrigue and an enduring love story. Can you say fantastic?
We get to travel to beautiful locations around the world from the US to Europe to Asia and exploring the powers of each of the elements: Fire, Earth, Wind, and Water. Beatrice and Giovanni chase after an ancient formula that could spell the end of the vampire world. Supported by very strong secondary characters, this mystery is exciting and heart pounding.
I have a new favorite male fictional character. His name is Giovanni Vecchio. He's a little alpha, a little self-sacrificing, a lotta possessive, a lotta charismatic, and a LOTTA loving! There is something about him that resonates with me. Maybe it's the way he sacrificed to be with Beatrice, maybe it's the way he cares for her - it is consuming. Oh, did I mention he is also a LOVER OF BOOKS?!
I've decided that anything that Elizabeth Hunter writes, I'm going to read. She really knows how to unwind a story with perfect timing and as they say in the music world - perfect pitch.
IN A NUTSHELL: Beautiful love story, beautiful friendships, intense mystery and drama. I give this book a five star rating!

This book was an excellent end to Giovanni and Beatrice's story. I loved this series for its fresh take on the vampire trope and for the entire cast of unique and loveable characters. I will definitely re-read the whole series one day!

A Fall of Water by Elizabeth HunterMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have been quietly reading A Fall of Water that Elizabeth Hunter shared with me and kept me awake late last night to finish it and still has me thinking about it this morning. It is another 5 Star bittersweet ending to a series that far exceeded my expectations when I spent 99 cents to buy A Hidden Fire: Elemental Mysteries Book 1 and could not get my mouse out fast enough to 1-Click This Same Earth: Elemental Mysteries Book 2 and then had to wait for her to finish The Force of Wind: Elemental Mysteries Book 3 which she also graciously allowed me to read an ARC as well. In trying to craft a review for A Fall of Water that will not be a bit of a spoiler it became obvious that might be impossible since all the books build upon each other. This last book does indeed wrap up some old questions and introduce some new characters that you feel like you already knew and her skills at building to a crescendo of the ending is done with skill and while feeding the readers need to enjoy the moments with the main couple that is needed to take what could have been a lackluster story in the hands of a less talented writer and craft it into an enticing and addictive epic. I think I will limit myself to not talking about the story too much since these books are so dependant on each other and to say too much might ruin it for others since if you have not read the others you don’t need to be reading this review and if you have then I don’t have to sell you on this final chapter of this epic romance and mystery. Thankfully even though the journey we have taken with B and Gio has ended, there will be further excursions into this world in the near future.

...AND ALL GREAT THINGS MUST COME TO AN END**SIGH**
The fourth and final installment in the Elemental Mysteries series has ended, finished, wrapped up, completed....And I'm mourning the loss of Gio and B.
This series was fantastic! it had everything a great PR series is made of: Love, mystery, suspense, angst, fabulous characters and the best story! A Fall of Water begins with B adjusting to finally turning. She has to conquer bloodlust, cravings, being over sensitive to all stimuli and....the loss of her human father and sire.
She is locked away from her family for a year and the isolation is killing her. She has Gio and without him she would have perished. Gio is the MAN throughout her period of lonliness. He is caring, thoughtful, sensitive, loving and endlessly understanding. He is her ROCK and she is his.
Finally, FINALLY when B pays her dues, she heads back to L.A to be re-united with her family and friends. Things are good, but Lorenzo is out there and he is heavily backed by a mystery person financing the production of the so called elixir-of-life. Once again, Gio, B, Carwyn and Tenzin must travel to Rome and stop the inevitable.
But this time, Ben, Matt and Dez are coming and the stakes are higher.
SOOOO much happens in this book it's crazy! I could write another book just describing what and who is involved but honestly, READ THE SERIES! it is phenomenal!
B really comes into her own and becomes the vampire she was destined to be. Gio is as always, there to defend his family and friends and most importantly find the ally so entrenched in Lorenzo's plan.
There are many battles, tragic deaths, betrayal's and reunions. There is love and understanding, faith and belief in what's meant to be, patience and plotting...the list goes on and on, but what is constant is Gio and B's eternal love and devotion.
This was truly the best possible ending from so many aspects and I am so glad I finally read this series! Beautiful story, powerful love and great characters abound! I only mourn the end of sexy Gio and beautiful and strong B, but hey, ALL GREAT THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.

The last and final installment of Beatrice and Gio was the best one of the series but sadly also the end. I would give this at least 7 Stars well if it is an option anyway. So 7 “A Fall of Water Stars” Spoiler alarm.
Gio and the family are back in Los Angeles that is until they get a summons from Italy, Livia is stepmother has the whole weird Greek thing going on there. They still haven’t had any news on the elixir of life or Lorenzo. But they keep their training up. Tenzin and Ben are at their bickering again. The first time that I read this book I wanted a book about Ben and Tenzin. I have read
which is fantastic although it was a novella and too short for my liking. There will be 5 books altogether. I really want to see Tenzin and Ben have a HEA. Swaying a bit off the topic here. The banter between Tenzin and Ben is really funny.

Livia has reigned in the Italian court for the past five hundred years. Livia’s mate was Gio’s sire. She is most certainly certifiable. She wants Gio in her court and most likely in her bed. Ick! Beatrice is introduced to Livia the hatred is mutual. At one of Livia’s parties, Lorenzo turns up and Livia’s hand is forced to arrest Gio of the crime of murdering his sire. No one needs to know the truth though. Geo is taken as a political prison. Giovanni has learnt the art of silence.
“Nothing will inflame your enemies more than silence. Nothing to accuse you with. Nothing to condemn you”
Gio manages to escape with some breaking and entering from Gavin, Jean and Deidre.
Meanwhile, the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. The four vampires from Geber’s research have been identified. Ziri the Numidian (air), Saba the Aethiop (earth), Arosh the Persian (fire) and Kato the Greek (water). Ziri helped Stephan De Novo just like he is helping Beatrice. Tenzin arrives in Rome with Lucien Thrax who took the elixir without realizing that there are side effects.
Tenzin is in Rome and has found out that Gio has been taken prisoner. Neither Carwyn or Tenzin like Livia and the feeling is mutual.
”Always a pleasure, Livia.” Carwyn stepped forward, snagging a passing glass of champagne. “I do love spending time in your incredibly ancient and imperial presence.” – Carwyn-
“We’ll fly up there, scare her. It we’re lucky, some of the guards will attack us and we’ll get to kill some.”-Tenzin-
Dez and Ben finding information and being attacked. Livia is on the warpath and she doesn’t care if humans are hurt. They have followed the connections for the production back to Livia and the cosmetics company that she owns in Bulgaria. It is a matter of building alliances. Gio and Beatrice don’t want to rule Rome so they need Emil di Conti.
Even with Lucien it is hard to prove that the elixir is more poison than cure. There Is no proof so they try and get proof by visiting and finding Arosh and Kato somewhere in current day Georgia. But there is a cure if your sire is alive.
Ms. Hunter has a way with words and the ending was epic. Just what one needs to end a series. This series is one of the few that I can reread without getting bored.
Livia was burnt and Lorenzo was killed. It is a long time to hold a vendetta against someone but I guess if you are immortal you have more than enough time.

A Fall of Water is the final instalment of the Elemental Mysteries quartet by Elizabeth Hunter. This story was certainly an improvement over the last two and it definitely brings the Gio and B's story to a satisfying and appropriate end. Why only the three star rating? I guess this could have easily been a 3.5 or four star books for some but it's just a case of it's not you, it's me..
The overall story arc leads a lot of the major players to Rome and culminates in a final battle that has been long coming. The plot and story are servicable but nothing super special but I do feel that the series ended on a high note. I really appreciated the role reversal of , it was like coming full circle after this happend to Beatrice as a puny human. I also liked a lot of the side characters and was especially fond of Ben and Tenzin's connection BUT - and this is the main reason I did not give this book four stars - I have grown somewhat tired of Beatrice and Giovanni. I find it hard to pinpoint exactly why, because this story is very well written and edited but I do feel that Beatrice just slipped into Mary Sue territory. She was already pretty close in The Force of Wind but now with all her being so ~amazing and cool~ and openly rebelling against Livia and fighting and being such a super in-control vampire despite being so young and so blahhhhhghhhhhh... no. Such a shame, because I actually liked B as a person and I could see why they author implemented certain things so her development did not come from nowhere (her sire's blood being very powerful due to the connection to Tenzin, the years of training etc) but in the end, I really did not like how things worked out.. a handful of years of training as a human and some strong sire do not make a fighter equal or better than immortals who have literally been doing this for centuries. NOPE.
Same goes for her perfect relationship with Gio and their constant (admittedly tastefully written and not trashy or over the top) sex anytime and anywhere. Look, I get it - you are in love. I am also a total sap with my partner in private but reading about their ~intimacy~ all the time was just a bit too much, ESPECIALLY because Gio as a romantic character still left me somewhat cold. I don't know why this did not workd for me because I usually love romance, I also dig series with a slow burn and/or a long-term couple (Magic Bites, for example) but this got a bit boring and eye-roll inducing after a while, especially during their mutual exclamations of their feelings for each other. Gio on the road with Carwyn? Wohoo! Gio being a stepdad to Ben? Awesome! Gio being all awesome fire vampire and kicking ass left and right? YAAAAAAAS. Gio being all sensual and loving and having an emotional connection with his wife whom he loves and respects deeply? Nope. WTF BRAIN, WHYYYYY? I don't know but it was really frustrating for me as this is usually stuff I totally adore.
Either way, I did like the inclusion of the Elder Immortals, even if the ending had a touch of deus ex machina to me. I might check out some of the side stories that do not include our main couple but I am in no rush. Goodbye, Gio and B. Say hi to Tenzin to me.

If you've read my previous reviews of the Elemental Mystery Series, then you know that I've always had a hard time making up my mind with how I wanted to rate these books. The first novel, I gave 3 stars; 2nd-4; 3rd-4; but unfortunately for the final installment, I'm going to have to give it 3 1/2 stars! While this one was better than the first, I didn't think it was as good as the previous 2. It just didn't live up to my expectations..
Things I liked:
-Lorenzo: As a villain, I always hated Lorenzo, and while I never started liking him in this one, I at least understood him a bit more. In fact, given the insight into his background, the reader was left wondering,"what if things had been different?"
-Ben: I LOVE Ben. I think his character is very well-rounded! I'm very excited to read the spin-off series that Elizabeth Hunter has planned for him and Tenzin.
-Answers: Elizabeth Hunter did a very good job of concluding everything, and giving us all the answers we have been striving towards for awhile now.
Things I didn't like:
-Story-line: I didn't enjoy the story-line in this one. The Elixir of Life really wasn't what I expected, and I felt that it was a story-filler. I felt that the story really dragged on, especially since Gio and Beatrice weren't together for a good portion of it. I felt like too much time was spent on the Ancients, side character story-lines, and introducing characters who amount to nothing in the end.
This wasn't an in-depth review, because my thoughts for this one are so iffy. I did enjoy it though, it kept me reading into the night, it made me cry..yet again, and I really do love the side characters, as well as Gio and Beatrice's beautiful love story. I guess it just wasn't the epic conclusion that I was waiting for. I know a lot of people would disagree with me on that point though, so definitely give this one a shot!

I've been praising Elizabeth's writing since I was introduced to her Elemental Mysteries series in 2011. If you look at my reviews of A Hidden Fire, This Same Earth and The Force of Wind you would see why I'm so enamoured with her work.
First of all, she writes vampires like Anne Rice would have written them - cunning, cautious, extremely political, clever and very, very dangerous. They might act like spoiled children sometimes but there are always multiple layers and reasons to their motivation.
Secondly, the world-building is exquisite. The research which must have gone into this series is enormous - from ancient Persia and Italian Renaissance to the power of elements and Asian mythology. The main characters travel all over the world in search of answers, and each location is carefully represented.
At last, the characters themselves, be that the main couple Giovanni Vecchio and Beatrice De Novo, or the cast of multiple secondary characters, Tenzin, Ben, Carwyn, Lorenzo, Matt and Dez, Baojia, etc. and many others are not just figureheads. They are complex, warm, and alive.
The conclusion of Elemental Mysteries was phenomenal. Not only I received the answers to my questions, I was forced to reevaluate the main villain, Lorenzo, in lieu of new revelations about his and Gio's past, and I actually felt for him. I felt for Lorenzo, and I haven't thought it would ever be possible.
The ending is deep, revenge is bitter and heart-wrenching, and it's all very philosophical.
Both Gio and Beatrice absolutely kick-ass in this book, B with her shit-kickers and hooked swords and Gio with his fire starter powers. Tenzin is wickedly scary and fun, and Carwyn stays true to his element with Hawaiian shirts, beer and wrestling.
Ben grows up considerably, and dare I guess that there will be something between him and Tenzin in a future spin-off, perhaps?
All in all, it was an amazing experience, and I really hope Elizabeth will write more books be that in the same world or anything else for that matter. To me she proved how talented she really is.

I don't know what to say except that I'm so sad that this series is completed. I've fallen so in love with all of the characters in this story, that I was in mourning over the ending of this fantastic series. Good news is, it looks like there will be a spin off! WOOT!
It's difficult to write a review of this book without revealing spoilers, so I will be to the point with how it made me feel instead. Because of my attachment to these characters, I was deeply pulled in to the story. Thinking about when I opened the first page, I think I said out loud, "Aaaahhhh....welcome back love." That was to Gio by the way. *winks* The reader knows going in to this book that there is the potential for mass chaos and major heart ache to ensue, because of the pretty huge changes that happened at the end of book three. Did chaos and heartbreak occur? Yes, yes they did. I was near tears on more than one occasion. That Gio really pulls at my heart and my patience. LOL
I felt like the ending was superb. The story was drawn to a close nicely. Again, I was near tears, but it wouldn't be a good book otherwise, right? Even though Gio and B's adventures have come to a close, EH has left us with the exciting thrill of what may come in the future with the supporting characters from this series. I CAN'T WAIT! The development of these characters has left me wanting more, more, more!!!
If you haven't read this series, please go check it out. Not only is the story truly spectacular, but there is a sophistication to the writing that I've truly enjoyed. I look forward to any book Elizabeth Hunter brings my way.

Secrets are unveiled and mistakes are righted as an incredible journey spanning continents and time comes to a thrilling and dramatic conclusion... I felt myself fully engaged and enthralled by this story and these unique and fascinating characters; loved every word:)

Started off a bit slow, but ended up being my fave of the series. We really get to feel the connection between these two in a new way. Loved the time in Rome and searching for the ancients.

EHunter couldn't have given me a better ending and wrap-up to this series than she did with
A Fall of Water
. I've loved every minute of this series and I'm grateful to Sophia Rose (who buddy read book 1 with me) and Lenore (who read the WHOLE series with me)!

A Fall of Water was the perfect ending to B & Gio's story, as well as the Elemental Mysteries series. EHunter brought things to a very satisfying conclusion without it being trite. Everything has been leading up to this final book. The culmination of it all was exhilarating, gut-wrenching, and riveting. B and Gio spend much time apart as they deal with politics and locating allies required in order to prevent a war as well as the release of a devastating secret. The majority of the story takes place in Rome and I adored the descriptions of everything from the cobbled back streets to Livia's home. All the major players are present and I was delighted to have Carwyn, Ben, Tenzin and others all present. A few new characters are introduced, which was enlightening and at times, heartbreaking. As per usual, EHunter didn't shy away from the violence required and I appreciated it.
With this series, EHunter has placed herself firmly on my Favorite Authors list and I look forward to reading more from her. A Fall of Water kept me on the edge of my seat and I was loathe to put down my kindle even if I wasn't ready to say goodbye to B and Gio. I can't explain how happy I was as I read the final sentences. That's how gratifying this final book was. So I'll just *sigh* in pleasure.

This is a such a bittersweet blog tour. Elizabeth Hunter's "Elemental Mysteries" series kicks butt like no other but this is the end of the line for books dominated by B and Gio. Book 4, "A Fall Of Water" is the highly anticipated final book in the series and Ms. Hunter does not disappoint.
As much as I love this series, I didn't start reading "A Fall Of Water" the same day I received my ARC from Elizabeth Hunter. I would open it up in my eReader then I would close it. Finally, I sat down last weekend and started my last adventure with Beatrice and Gio. I thought that if I delayed reading Book 4 long enough, Ms. Hunter would decide we needed a Book 5.....What element she would write about didn't matter to me; what did matter was that I wouldn't have to say goodbye to what quickly became one of my most favorite book series' and the cast of characters within the pages. But, alas, here I am writing a review for the last book in the Elemental Mysteries series.
"A Fall Of Water" was a perfectly balanced book of humor, passion, and adventure with anger and deception thrown in for good measure. I laughed a lot; I cried in at least 3 places; and I clenched my fists in anger (good thing I didn't have to hold an actual book). As with the first 3 books in the series, I was pulled along from place to place as each scene unfolded.
Each story is dependent on the one prior so I won't dwell too much on the details of the story. The synopsis provided above is enough of an explanation. Ms. Hunter does an excellent job answering the questions woven into books 1-3. She shows us just how deep the love is between B and Gio and that they are willing to go to desperate lengths to protect not just one another but others in their small family. I love the interaction between Tenzin and Ben and if the epilogue is any indication, we may be seeing more of them in a spin-off . Carwyn doesn't disappoint and spews one liners that had me rolling. I know his spin-off book is currently in the line-up.
There is also a twist at the end that brings to light the mystery surrounding one of the lead villains of the series. The picture that has been painted of this character throughout the series is finally unveiled and there is a sort of sympathy that you can't help but feel. The villain's explanations, motives, and events of the past were expertly written and clearly explained.
"A Fall Of Water" is a fantastic final book in one of the greatest series' I have ever read.
So, as sad as I am that the series is ending, I can revisit my favorite "Elemental Mysteries" vamps and humans anytime by just opening up the books. I look forward to any addition books based on characters from within the Elemental Mysteries series.

This last book in the series was really, really good... but it also dragged a bit for me. There are a lot more politics involved in this book, and a lot of what seems to be esoteric side-trips that don't always make sense until virtually the end of the book. I'm not complaining. As a whole, I'd give this series a 3.75-4 star rating.
The characters stay true to themselves. The story and the mystery does unfold, albeit very slowly; this is the culmination book, though, so you have to go with it and try to savor the build up to the final climax.
Now that we've survived the trip to China and the aftermath of that, including losing a someone dear to the group, we're whisked away to Rome to finally meet Livia. My only real problem with this book is that the set-up we've had with Livia is far different from the real vampire/female. Now, twists and turns are always welcome, but somehow, it felt to me as if the writer changed her mind about Livia and her role in this epic and reflected those changes about 1/3rd of the way through this book. I have nothing to go on other than my gut... and it all works out in the end, but still... I completely understand when characters and situations change in an author's mind; but I'd have appreciated a bit more heads-up on this one.
Regardless, Lorenzo makes a few irritating cameo appearances, and I wondered if anything would truly be resolved by the end of this book. And I was going to be supremely upset if I had to start another series (that's not done yet) by the author to get my closure. But no, Ms. Hunter is much smarter and savvier than that, thank goodness!
I'm not sure that the ending is as satisfying as I'd expected. Ms. Hunter reminds us that few people or vampires are strictly black or white. But it's almost disturbing... and again, I wonder if I have to delve into her 2nd series for that to make any sense at all. It's rather strange, but very cool when I step back from it all.
We also receive introductions to the oldest four vampires still living, which is quite a trip in and of itself.
A (small) nit is that Isadora (grandma) and Casper are once again non-existent except for a phone call or two. Ben, though, takes a more dominant role, which seems appropriate, given that he's quickly becoming a man.
Seems a shame that vampires can't create children the old-fashioned way... and the author never really explains why that is. I guess being undead and all has something to do with it - LOL!

My Thoughts:
A brilliant series finale for Ms. Hunter. I love the complexity, mystery, and subterfuge woven throughout the story. The cast of characters was as strong as ever. Gio and B visit Rome and the behest of Livia, the "queen" of the Roman court. While there, they uncover one mystery after another in their pursuit of the elixir's manuscript. Alliances are formed and hidden...and not so hidden...enemies are revealed. I loved this story because, in it, we see the strength of love, family, and friendship that allow Gio and B to survive insurmountable odds.
There were several points in the story when I got a bit teary-eyed and one of them occurred at the end of chapter 9 . Another occurred during the finale fight when Gio was . This story was filled with so many powerful moments. I enjoyed the fact that we got to see Ben in his burgeoning manhood. He definitely has the makings of an alpha male. I see a book in his future.....please. And it was wonderful seeing traces of the old Carwyn. His sarcasm and humor always add a light-heartedness to the story. I am really looking forward to his story in Building from Ashes.
Ms. Hunter is definitely become one of my favorite authors because of her facility to create engaging stories that are infused with history but are also very romantic and exciting. Bravo!!!

I'm at a loss, what a wonderful book. I adore how Elizabeth Hunter completed this series and set up for the next one. Her secondary characters have always been wonderful. They build your you need to learn who they are. They are also major parts of the story line...secondary in some ways but major plot movers. I can't wait to find out more about them in Elemental Worlds. Elemental Mysteries ties all the continuing strings together into one big intricate knot. It didn't leave you wanting in any way. This wonderfully crafted tale and well rounded, fully developed characters are stars the genre and should cross over into the world of mystery and action/drama. I forecast Elizabeth Hunter will find herself at home on the NYT bestsellers list and it will be well deserved!
5 golden stars for this book and series which is sitting on my favorites shelf. A must read for you all... Don't miss out..you will be sorry.

I finished reading this about ten minutes ago, I'm sure there is going to be TONS of typos when I'm done writing this post but I have to write this down now before I forget all these feels. I have so much love for this book right now it's simply indescribable!
A Fall Of Water, is final installment of the Elemental Mysteries series. I have been sticking with this series from the very beginning and I am really glad that I stuck to it till the end. I still remember reading about Beatrice and Giovanni meeting for the first time in A Hidden Fire. Tenjin, Carwyn, Dez every one throughout these books have grown on me. And in A Fall Of Water, Ben has been one of my favorite character to read about. He is just a big sweetheart and I want more about this Vecchio.
The last book goes into a bit deeper in the vampire myth than the previous books. Revealing more about the elements of the vampires and the power to manipulate it. One of the main thing that was fascinating to me was Giovanni's vampire bloodline, at the end I felt like learning more of the ancient vampires history. But hats off to Miss Hunter for bringing this awesome characters to life and thank you so much for introducing me to them.
It breaks my heart to say goodbye to the characters and this story but this was really one of the perfect ending for a series. If you are a fan of paranormal vampire novels, Elemental Mysteries is a MUST read.

I can't believe it's over, no, no I can't. The emotional roller coaster I search for in every book came through with shuddering effect throughout this series - from elation, to abject fear, absolute sorrow, knuckle biting suspense, to sobs of "Why?! Why, oh why!" all the way to the sated peace that I've yet to find in so many other promising stories.
I don't say this lightly, but the Elemental Mysteries is going to linger in my head for a very, very long time.
This book in particular - I fell in love all over again with the deep connection between Beatrice and Gio, a connection that went beyond simple "love", "trust" and "contentment".
I would absolutely go crazy if a spin-off series was written about Ben. Like, batshit crazy.
I was intrigued by the introduction of Ziri, Arosh, Kato and Saba but I felt that their presence was too fleeting - too convenient to tie up loose ends. Perhaps a short story about Saba? That would quell my curiosity for who Elizabeth Hunter introduces as "the first of their kind".
The final scene with Gio and Lorenzo really put me at peace. It happened exactly how I imagined, how I thought Gio would handle it and Beatrice was absolutely on point. I know that a book is well written when the characterization of each persona echoes exactly in my head - there is no OOC incidences and I'm not sitting here thinking its a load of garbage.
I can't blab enough praise for this series! Unconditional 5/5 stars.

A superb conclusion to a 5 star series!
A Fall of Water, the fourth and final book of Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Mysteries series starts off with the characters dealing with the aftermath of the events in The Force of Wind. After regrouping and some seclusion time for B, the team sets out to find the vampire supporting Lorenzo as well as Lorenzo himself. The conclusion to Beatrice & Gio’s story does not falter. The story never feels rushed or contrived as mysteries are solved, loose ends wrapped up or a certain character’s motivation revealed.
At the end of the last book I decided that I needed an action figure of Beatrice, A Fall of Water did not change that, but now I must have a Tenzin figure as well. The action scenes featuring the two women were incredible and heart stopping. As it was the last book in the series (not counting the highly anticipated spin off books set in the same universe) I wasn’t positive that Ms. Hunter wouldn’t kill off some of her heroes before the end of the story.
The books are also a fantastic value, for less than $15 you can purchase all 4 books in the series. Lots of bang for your buck, you won’t be disappointed. I look forward to reading more about her vampires in Carwyn’s book.

What can I say I haven't already said in my previous reviews regarding this series - it is one of the best I have ever read and one I WILL read again.
In book four - the finale one in this series - Gio and B have to go through another set of dangerous problems , till they are finally able to solve the mystery. The reading, was as always, so engaging and captivating, that I had to pace myself to slow down, because I did not want to be done too soon.
The enemies are getting more volatile, the friends are getting stronger, the love between the hero and the heroine is growing .
This book is another notch up the previous ones ( if that is even possible - and it seemed , it was ). I truly appreciate Ms Hunters writing and I hope , she will continue to write ( esp. the many stories left in the world of Elements ) I can wait , Ms Hunter, but I would love to read, Carwyns, Tenzins ,Bens and all the other characters in the world you created.

The enemies are getting more volatile, the friends are getting stronger, the love between the hero and the heroine is growing .
This book is another notch up the previous ones ( if that is even possible - and it seemed , it was ). I truly appreciate Ms Hunters writing and I hope , she will continue to write ( esp. the many stories left in the world of Elements ) I can wait , Ms Hunter, but I would love to read, Carwyns, Tenzins ,Bens and all the other characters in the world you created.

Ms Hunter has done it again. This last book in the Elemental Mysteries series has everything.....Romance, Action, Humor, Great Characters, History.....What a wonderful read. Book 4 reunites us with Bea & Gio, who IMO are such a sweet, sexy couple. Just having the two of them on the page together is steamy....must be the fire/water combination. All of our favorite supporting characters are back: Carwyn, Tenzin, Ben, Dez & Matt. Some new characters have been added and I will admit to getting attached to most of them as well. .The storyline that was begun in A Hidden Fire comes to an excellent, satisfying conclusion. This is a well written series that has a lot of meat to the story. I am looking forward to reading more on the side characters.
